I'm something of the reverse, the Lilith part of the mod is something I've got little to no interest in, while the werewolf and vampire part is what actually got me here /shrug probably because I don't play female characters and the Lilith content is heavily tilted towards such, the Monster Hunters and other races are also intresting, sadly the other races are locked behind the Lilith content which makes them something I'm unlikely to see /shrug oh well, if you end up droping the wolf and vampire parts of the mod I'll be sad but you've got to do whats best for you in the end, it's not like we are paying you for this after all

Yea more or less what he said but if you do end up dropping the werewolf/vampire part will you be ok having some one make a fork of your mod that still has that part?

Just a heads up, CKII's latest expansion, Conclave, finally received a release date (Feb 2nd). I don't suspect its new features would break my portraits, but it's inclusion of more women's rights would probably break DW, Sexual Crusaders, or other woman mods, like Crusader Queens.

While I can't speak for him, Dewguru has always said he'd like to get more people interested in modding CK2, and has always been happy to work on compatibility stuff with others, so I imagine he'll likely be cool if you ask him. :)

I've tried to marry my female ruler on the another female. Both girls were Lilithian, but I can't choose her as a possible wife. WAIDW?

Don't use the standard marriage interface. You have to select the special option from that character's decision/etc menu.

It works, thank You!

similar opinions here but I don't mind running a female ruler every now and then, just havent gotten around to it.

with the ducal council, I expect pretty much every mod that does anything significant will break. :/ Which sux we just got Arglwydd back to working and updated a bit... and damn does it make a beautiful combo with dark world!!

edit:

that upcoming 2.5 patch looks mod breaking too

Is religion tab supposed to make the game crash when I'm playing with a Lilithian?

Nop. Which varirety of the religion do you have? I.e. what was your starting capital province?

Posted

It subdivides by culture, but no, that shouldn't happen for any of the three (hidden) versions.

Tried when playing with Estonia, France and Lombardy... That should be Estonian, Frankish and Lombardian(?)...

Got base game, all DLCs, Dark Worlds and some courtiers join mercenaries mod, which doesn't include anything related to cultures, provinces or religions, so doubt it's from incompatibility, but gonna try just in case anyways

Just to verify, but are you running CK2 2.4.5 and Dark World 1.25?

Yup, and I kind of might have figured out why it crashed...

I updated to 1.25 by overwriting old files instead of deleting old ones completely... Haven't played on laptop in a long time so most likely was pre 1.20

Yeah, in general it is always advisable to delete the previous version when updating a mod, and starting new games.

My apologies for not having been around the past few days. I went cold turkey for a bit and reacquainted myself with some Dragons Dogma now that it's been released for the PC. I'm feeling revived enough that I cracked open the content again this evening and resumed some updates.

After pondering I'm going to press forward. If I change anything, it may be splitting some things off into separate mods. We'll see how it goes though.

The only real issue now though is the upcoming patch. I'll be hitting both the public patch and getting the new DLC. I don't expect the new DLC will become a requirement. I will take time though to focus on making the mod compatible with the public patch, and if it's as game changing as they're indicating, then it may change the mod enough to where everyone else will need to upgrade as well.

I most likely won't be releasing a update before this. So you're looking at most likely two more weeks before you get an update.

Glad to here you'll keep working on this!

As for the patch, I bet you only have to update job_titles andsuccession_laws.

Oh, would you consider adding a version of the mod's buildings to the nomads? I was doing a werewolf run as the Uygurs, and it would have been glorious to have been able to enslave and sell all those dozens of prisoners!

Looking forward to the next update.

For anyone looking for WW content, I *will* be releasing a Male oriented WW series of hunts that occur bi-annually.  This will be a 'drag and drop' addition to dew's mod as it alters nothing in the base mod - although it *does* alter the graphics file to include the new images I created for the events.  Thus the base Dark World mod is a requirement but will *not* have any changes to its mechanics, events, etc.

That said, it may be closer to two or 3 weeks before it's ready for release.  I'm 4 random events out of a planned ten, and that took me basically all of this weekend to complete. Next week I have work that I know will eat any free time M-F, and Saturday is a project that will eat that day as well so I will probably not be able to pick this up until next Sunday at the earliest.  I *hope* to finish events 5-6 and maybe 7 tonight, but that may be unrealistic.

 - these hunts are triggered every two years if the player is male and has the werewolf trait. Unless you modify the trigger in my mod they will not fire otherwise. Female-oriented content is not actually difficult at all, and at some point I will probably add it for OCD's sake. It's just time consuming to alter each written event description and create the "is_female = yes" triggers within every event to point to the new description. Lots of copy + paste + slight tweaks that I'm just not going to do now.  Release first, alteration to include female player character later.

- an additional portrait file and accompanying on-adulthood script addition will also be included. Other than changing 1 male WW portrait (the one that looks like a rat) this will be another drag-and drop that does not alter any of the base Dark World mod. It will simply expand portraiture assignment for WWs, Orcs, and Elves.  mentioned it earlier, and it's basically ready for release as soon as I remove the 'cheaty' traits I've assigned to various portraits.  Female Elves will all have the 'fair' or attractive trait though.

Side note to Dew - were you aware you could basically fit two or more events/outcomes in one?  For example, the below script modifies the description you receive (in this instance getting your ass kicked if you're not strong or brave) so that instead of creating 2 events each dealing with the separate consequences and descriptions from a prior event, you can pack that into one.  Same for the options, which I did not include.  Adding the appropriate trigger block, your description of the event + the option itself can be set to 1 of multiple 'outcomes'

character_event = {
id = WWHunt.324
desc = {
trigger = {
OR = {
trait = strong
trait = brave
}
}
text = WWHunt324
}
desc = {
trigger = {
NOT = {
OR = {
trait = strong
trait = brave
}
}
}
text = WWHunt324B
}

If you weren't aware of the ability, it's pretty damn sweet.  I haven't figured out if it's possible to do the same for pictures but I *think* it is because there's a religion/culture picture variable I was reading about on one of the wiki pages; I just haven't been able to find an example in the base game's mod to figure out how it's done.  You'll notice that in the split description above, the designation goes to 'text =' where normally when you're operating off of just the one description it's 'desc ='.  If I figure that out I'll definitely post an example because then you could not only have a 'variable' event but the picture itself could change.

I'm aware of it. Just haven't found where it'd really be beneficial enough for me to use. As having one event cover both a description and subsequent options and effects based on success and failure really provides no benefit in game mechanics and only serves to muddy things behind the scenes for what I like to do in organizing things.

Regarding the images, it's not possible to alter them the same way you can do descriptions or options. If it was, I'd use it heavily as it'd allow me to swap male and female imagery.

What the vanilla game is doing when you see some different pictures for the same event - is inside the cultures graphics file, you can have a culture override certain images and serve up it's own version. So it's not the event itself that's controlling the picture swapping. When I discovered that, I saw it as too large a pain in the ass to mess with.

Pre-Post Edit: I just realized before posting that this is a wall-of text rant. I'll keep it here, but it's just a monologue on the pros and cons of splitting off features into sub-mods. I put it into a spoiler so you don't have to read it if you don't want to:

  Splitting mods into separate, smaller mods (I call them 'modules', no redundancy intended) is surprisingly easy lately. I myself have been maintaining a fan-version of a semi-dead mod, and recently found the wonders of modular modding (my own term...I think) in making certain features easily separable from the main mod. If you're looking to go that way, though, it would likely require moving a lot of events out of the compiled event files they are in now, and any future sub-mods would need to have dependencies so certain events could be overwritten, etc. etc.

   With a mod this big, the things you split off into their own mods would have to be relatively small, at least at first, so you can properly restructure the necessary events around the changes to the main mod. For example, if you're splitting vampires from the mod, an event that previously had flavor text referencing vampires or checked for if a character had the Vampire trait would have to be re-written without the vampire content, then the original version would have to be added to the sub-mod, identical to the original file but for those few changes, just so you can properly overwrite those events for players who want to use the sub-mod. And then, in any future versions of the mod not only would you be updating your main mod with new content, you would be adding that content into the sub-mods as well, so that the events work properly.

   I'm probably not telling you anything you don't already know, and you probably have some kind of workaround in place for this, but then again this is more of a FYI kind of post, and somewhat of a wall of text now that I'm looking at it. Wow.

Something of actual relevance:

As for the new DLC, just do what feels right to you. It's your mod, we're the ones getting to enjoy it; so if you think the mod would be more fun to you if it had Conclave content, I'm sure none of us (except the especially stubborn ones among us) would argue with your decision. As you've said, your mod should have what you want in a mod; otherwise it's no fun to develop, right? ^_^

Posted

Can i request a targeted decision? as somebody before mentioned, a targeted decision to have sex with your wife/lovers. this will be quite cool. You can then work upon this one decision to have different flavor texts/options for different situations. Like werewolf/vampire specific flavor texts or kinky event options if player has lustful or hedonist traits.

Am I doing something wrong?

My ruler is an incubus and I get get my sons to be incubi from time to time as well.

But no daughter ever got the succubus trait.

I than killed of all the sons and my ruler so the non-succubus daughter would become the ruler.

Waited around 2-3 years game time thinking Lilith would show up to corrupt my female ruler but no go.

If you have the Exotic Emporium you can go shopping and have a chance of finding a book on a Lilith ritual.  That will "awaken" your blood and start you down the path.
