Minor Bug: The event where Lucifer shows up to convert you to Messalian fires even if you are already Messalian. (I mean if you become messalian before the event! Such as picking it in ruler designer or normal game mechanics.)

Aren't custom portraits fun!? :D And some wonder why my custom static portrait release had to accompany a college thesis worth of text :D. I can't figure out why Paradox couldn't have made its implementation more simpler.

I think the most impressive part about it is the patience and focus you must have executed. It's quite impressive and your work on making it as functional as it is, is greatly appreciated.

I probably loaded CKII over 200 times wracking my mind around those four property slots, missing DLC, etc. I had to teach myself most of it, because everyone on Paradox kept thinking I was trying a cultural approach, and many would describe parts of the process, but they wouldn't provide any files or samples. I think a lot of people at Paradox pretend to know more than they let on.

 

What's disappointing is it's not exactly a mod I can release on Steam due to the complexity of it. It's one of those mods that either a mod author has to add to an existing mod (like you did), or a user has to invest the time to get the most out of it. Most people on Steam don't have that kind of patience. Most will be lucky if they know how to install a mod, considering the Steam subscribe button does it for them! The mod's also reliant on art software to edit and save .dds files, so that eliminates most of the user-base.

Assassination update

 

Here's the changes in a nutshell.

 

Assassins Guild building - no change

Hiring an assassin - just an adjustment in the sex of your assassin. It used to be 75% chance for a male, 25% for a female. Now I just made it 50-50 since I've had shit luck getting a female assassin. :)

 

Assassination targeting 

  • You can only target someone within your diplomatic range, so someone in Iceland should be able to target someone in east asia
  • The ai has modifiers that vastly influence their odds of using an assassin should they make an assassins guild. For example, someone who is cruel is more likely, someone who is just won't use them at all.
  • The assassination result is no longer calculated at the time the decision is selected. It now kicks off a series of events.

Assassination event summary

  • Three stages, first two stages the target has a chance to discover that they're being set-up for an assassination. They in turn (if they're a ruler with a spymaster), may attempt to thwart the assassin before the final stage, go into hiding, or do other external actions (such as making a slave bodyguard) to help reduce the chances of the assassin's success should it reach the third stage.
  • Final stage is the assassination attempt. In order to address some of the "What the fuck just happened to me?" type deaths that folks experienced, the target will receive the dreaded assassination attempted event - letting them know who is trying to off them, and they may be able to see the percentage chance of their death, injury, or turning the tables on the assassin if they hover over the option associated with the event. This way, if you've bodyguard, are in hiding, or have done something else to try and protect yourself - yet the chances for your death are still high (greater than 50%), then I may have an error somewhere - but now we'll have information and you'll at least be able to know who did you in for certain.
  • If the assassin dies before the event - you won't still die (like it could previously), and if the target dies before the event, then the assassin will call it off and return home - notifying their liege (previously I believe it got hung up if this occurred).

Heh, I appreciate the best wishes, but I'm married - although lucky still comes into play as it's not easy finding the time with a house full of kids sometimes.

 

Saturday evenings is occasionally when a group of us nerds gather around a table to partake of the old school tradition of playing a role-playing game that involves paper, pencil, and imagination. We've just been having some trouble lately with schedules (vacations, flu, wife aggro for one poor soul, etc.)

They probably can. I noticed it when I played just this last time myself when I put myself in the hole. There is a minimum check that ensures someone has at least 75 gp to go shopping, which usually is enough to purchase at least something. But after that initial check, I don't have a trigger check on the actual purchase option. It is something I noticed and plan on fixing here in the near future.

I just realized I haven't posted here, which is a real shame, because this mod is absolutely great. I've been playing it with After the End, and it's given me some really great moments (favorite one: finally got an attractive looking heir portrait-wise, on her 16th get the event to sleep with her, then a week later, my character dies and I take over as her. Little bit after that, surprise, she's pregnant! Then she gets pneumonia, gets the Lunatic trait when she heals, and has a genius, strong child. It was amazing).

 

So basically thanks a heap for the graet work, dewguru.

 

I do have a question: With the custom portraits, do those only show with vanilla cultures, then? And they're a regular picture, not a specific in-game style portrat? That's kind of what it seemed like from reading earlier in the thread. I was wondering, because I have all the non-music DLCs, and I'm definitely getting generic portraits for the vampires, Selene, and Harley. But I'm also a new culture from the After the End mod, so if that messes things up, there you have it.

I figured as much, thanks for the explanation! I'll just keep going for now with the regular portraits, I really like playing After the End as well, and it's a small sacrifice.

Might I suggest reducing (or ideally eliminating) the chance of nothing happening on the decade pulse? It's already possible to have to wait more than a full generation if you're looking for a specific event; going multiple decades in a row without getting any event is flat-out infuriating.

 

...Especially for those of us who get awful performance and average 4 minutes to get through a year (and that's assuming nothing needs attention) T_T

 

EDIT: For that matter, can we put the futa merchant event back on MTTH? It used to be so nice having the possibility of having 2 or 3 badass futa councillors at once (uncommon, but possible)... now I've gotten the merchant exactly once in the 80 years I've played this save

It's really, really late (early) and I'm off to bed.

 

I've got the release ready to roll out. I just want to get some sleep and take a final look before posting it, since I can feel my brain power isn't reliable at the moment.

Hrm. What version are you using. I removed the chance for nothing to happen with the last update I'm pretty certain (I just commented it out).

 

The four random events, and the only things that can trigger from my mod on decade pulse are:

  • Semen Wine Fad
  • Feral Werewolf
  • Vampire Ball
  • Futa Merchant

If it's not in the last update, then I just did it for this one, because I'm looking at it right now, so something should be happening every 10 years.

 

I tried it on the 5 year pulse, but then it seemed almost like it was spamming it after a couple generations.

 

The Monster Hunters are also triggered on the decade pulse, but it's not a random event. It'll fire every time, select a hunter if there is already a 'monster' in your court, and then if the hunter was already created, it aborts. Since there are only three hunters presently, and I've only plans for three more, I didn't want all six hunters being out within the first sixty years.

Playing a male ruler I impregnated my futa whore about 20 times in one pause 

 

I was spammed by the option to rape imprisoned woman and for some reason even after doing it multiple times none of them became pregnant.

 

is their a plan for the whores to decide not to be whore anymore? I have some 70 year old whores still pumping out babies.

 

With the fix to female werewolfs becoming bitches they are like baby factories pumping out more babies than the whores. Its has became a werewolf epidemic.

The prisoner rape thing is part of the nadamod that is incorporated in this. It could definitely use some tuning for that part of it, which I would like to do at some point.

 

What version of the mod are you using? Are you using this with any other mods? There is a check in mine that any whore who is 50 or older, not immortal, and not controlled by the player, should NOT choose to work as a whore.

 

Regarding the werewolf bitches - it is supposed to be an epidemic. That's the point of the werewolves. It's not meant to be a fun loving furry fest. It's supposed to be the elimination of mankind via replacing it with werewolves. Your only option to stop it is to kill the werewolves. By allowing them into your court, you basically are supporting their goals, and their goals trump your desires if you become a bitch. You go from being ruler to being a tool in their plans.

 

The next update after v0.80 will have the mechanism to begin fighting back against the epidemic if you choose. The monster hunters that are introduced don't hunt anything (save one who can double as an extra assassin), but they will in the following update. I just didn't include it this time as it seems better for me to churn out small updates instead of large ones.

Found a bug with incubus inheritance: If you marry the incubus Lilith gives you, all of your children will gain the succubus or incubus trait. Regardless of their real father.
