Jexsam Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 So I can spawn Shoggoths just fine with placeatme. No Conjuration spell, but that's whatever. So I did what I normally do - I attached the erect dick mesh to the Shoggoth mesh. Having creatures constantly "at attention" make screenshots easier, you see. But, the thing is, when I did that and tried to spawn the Shoggoth, immediate CTD. Removed the meshes in nifskope, spawned fine again. Is this something I can fix on my end, or am I just going to have to go without?
Bad Dog Posted April 10, 2015 Author Posted April 10, 2015 Sounds like you somehow attached the erect junk improperly. Lots of ways to do that, I've tried most of them. But you don't need to do that. Just load up Aroused Redux and use puppet master to jack up their arousal ("exposure"). They'll stay hard all day long.

I'm slogging my way through the draugr, of which there are a billion and they're implemented different ways and each set has its own challenges. The problem is, it's not clear where to stop. He's got about 4 basic skin types and at some level I could just make 4 nude aroused draugr and point them all at that. But some of them have different headgear or armor, so it's hard to decide not to make the aroused guys distinct. I'm doing a bunch now with texture sets. I got started with this guy: His problem is that he's got a skirt which is part of the same mesh and texture as that cool necklace of hand bones, which I didn't want to lose. So I made him some clothes where the skirt is transparent and put that in a texture set--so I'm using the regular SIC nif file but swapping in new clothes and an erection. He says thank you: There are a bunch of other guys with similar problems and they all get new clothes swapped in with texture sets and one of the 4 peens for each different skin texture. I also dealt with Red Eagle, whose clothes were complicated enough that they just all had to come off. I'm now stuck on some liches, where lifestorock threw a real curveball. There's three, each a different draugr race, and they all use the same skin, which has different addons for each different race, and the addons are naked with no armor equipped. So he seems to have gotten the thing working where one skin chooses different addons based on race. The armor seems to come from an outfit equipped by the NPC, which chooses the right variant based on the race of the NPC. Right now, the guys show up right but SLNC strips the body armor off as soon as they show up. I've marked the armor "normal" in CF; removing the normal keyword means they don't get stripped but they also don't put their clothes back on after sex. I dunno what I'm going to do about that. It may not be fixable with the current setup--I may need to put their armor on using another mechanism. But he's got this whole thing going where the outfit equips a leveled cuirass, which points to one of several variants, which choose several addons. I think this is more complicated than one draugr deserves and maybe I'll just have CF equip a standard cuirass and we'll leave it at that. If I get these guys sorted I'll post a draugr update. But this is getting routine. I've got a long weekend coming up and maybe I'll use it to come up to speed on blender... give the skeletons real boners maybe.

SLNC is pulling the armor off them as soon as they appear leaving them naked and neutered and I cannot figure out how it's even happening. I put the CFNormal keyword on the armor which should leave it on, but it comes off with the keyword and stays on without it. I can't figure out what model is showing up when the armor comes off--I spent half the evening chasing my tail thinking the armor was going on in pieces, but no, when I followed the chain properly (I think) I ended up with a nif containing both armor and body, just like all the other draugr. In which case, how is SLNC pulling the armor off? OK, SIC is taking the base nif with body armor and adding helmet, guantlets, and boots, because those aren't in the nif but are in the game. And when SLNC gets the armor off those remain on the nude version. So SLNC could be swapping out the body armor and leaving the addons. But where is SLNC finding a body to swap with, and why only when I make the SIC body CFNormal? The NPC comes with a skin that has a nude body. It's not used because the NPC has an outfit that includes the nif with the body. Could SLNC be assuming that skin should be the CFNormal skin and not realizing there's an outfit? Then if I mark the skin as not being CFNormal, SLNC should ignore it, yes? Hmmm. Edit: Crap. The skin didn't have CFNormal and adding CFNormal made no difference. The only anomaly I can find now is that CF says there is no normal armor for my overlord, yet I defined a normal armor for it explicitly (to try to force the clothes to stay on). Tomorrow I'll start with looking again to see why this armor isn't being found. If I can make that work I'll quit, tho it's a hack--SLNC strips the SIC armor and then equips its own normal armor. But it's better than nothing. Here are the guys I'm working on:

I've been wanting to give the skeletons real boners, so I pulled apart a skeleton in blender and repurposed a femur. It was a minor pain, because there are a dozen steps and a dozen ways to do each one wrong, but I did get there. The equipment: He looks kind a proud of it. And it works just fine. So THAT's all right. I'll go through the skeletons at some point and make sure they're all behaving right. But right now, I'm putting wolf junk on werewolves. It's close to there but the blender-back-to-Skyrim leg is screwing up somehow. More soon.

Got the wolf equipment working on the werewolf body: I could be convinced the flaccid version is a bit too small. I think it's realistic, but who wants realism in a fantasy monster creature? I checked him out to see how he looked in action. Oops. Who would have thought he'd like it like that? I have him rigged so that he can still use the human junk I had working before. It's set up so you can use CF to chose which of the two you want--or any of the other existing options, of course. Wrapping up with some gratuitous sex. Gonna play with blender some more tomorrow.

I just wasn't happy with the aroused mesh so I took the mesh from the real wolves and put that on the werewolves: I don't like the color match, but it's as good as I can do. I don't know where the blue shading comes from... the texture is exactly the texture from the leg, and I've got all the rendering settings I can find set the same. If anyone knows about how skyrim displays textures and wants to make suggestions, I'd like to hear it. Last shot for today, all the werewolves:

As for SOS, it works for the people (and argonians and khajiit and dwemer ghosts provided by SIC). But it doesn't work for creatures.

Bad Dog Posted April 21, 2015 Author Posted April 21, 2015 Heh, thanks. Not sure it really turns my crank, but they definitely needed it. Today, tried to get the chaurus crawlers to work. They're on the spider skeleton but their abdomen is too high for the spider prick. I tried to curl the abdomen around in blender, which worked fine, but I can't get the export back to a nif to work. I keep getting an extra layer of NiNodes and Skyrim barfs on it. Tried getting rid of the extra layer in nifskope, with no luck, tried everything I could think of in blender, no luck. I don't know why they are a problem when the werewolf and skeleton boners weren't. I have a question out on the interwebz, and I'll take another run at it another day.

I went google surfing "blender" and "export" and "skyrim" and found http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/15690/?where they blithely comment that if your root node in the nif is not named "Scene Root", blender will create a Scene Root and make everything a child of it. Fuck fuck fuck fuckity fuck fuck. They also say you can remove the extra node with "crop to branch" but I bet that doesn't work for me. I've tried getting rid of that node a bunch of other ways and they've all failed. I also found a bunch of guys who are exporting to Morrowind format and then using NifUtilities to convert to skyrim. So now I have a bunch of stuff to try and no time to try it. Maybe over the weekend.

I would recommend getting the import/export filters for 3DS und use that. Not that those are perfect.. far from it... but the software itself is much more solid.

The vanilla skeletons will get it through this mod but anyone not running SIC will be out of luck. It wouldn't be hard to pull them out. Or they could go in SLNC, but if Lord-Escobar-of-the-beast wants them he's gotta answer my question about the draugr.

Having said that considering the learning curve for 3D creation nowadays it does make sense for Autodesk to get as many people to learn their programs as possible. The way I see it if you are willing to devote the time to learn 3dsMax and help others create mods then it does fit the definition of a student/instructor. It's win-win. EDIT: My post got bumped, I was referring to Autodesk's free license program for education.

I did try the various fixes and they all pretty much work, except for NifUtils, which crapped out with a "code 4" and who the hell writes code like that? There's no documentation easily available so I abandoned trying to make that work. Too bad, anybody who can figure out the nif format and do a converter has serious skillz, but I'm not sure the tools are worth the time investment. Except... that I finally figured out that the problem wasn't with the nif structure, it was because I had failed to set the dismember body part code from BP_TORSO to the Skyrim equivalent. When I did that, everything started working. Maybe the utils would have found it for me and saved me some grief. Getting the right structure on export turned out not to be hard. The last step is to import the skeleton from the nif and parent it to the mesh... I renamed the top level to "Scene Root" before doing the import and it worked. I didn't have to redo the whole mesh. I think deleting the top-level node directly also worked--it was the body part problem that was getting in the way before. This is the guy I've been working on: At first I was going to give him chaurus equipment, but it looked stupid and he has that enormous spike to work with... so I just flexed him around a bit in blender. Now that's a sight to give a girl pause. And he knows how to use it. So, good. There's a some tweaking of the bone weights to do but it basically works. I think I've gone from "don't know nuthin bout no blender" to "knows enough to be dangerous." There's also some odd shading problems... the colors aren't quite right. No idea what's up with that. I need to learn more about texture effects in skyrim. In celebration, some more gratuitous sex from when I was running around Skyrim instead of beating my head against the blender wall.
