Kaz Aanh Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 I hate forced american holidays in my country. Keep this away.
Slammer64 Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 It's one of the 4 Fire Festivals we Pagan's celebrate, but to us it's Samhain, NOT Halloween.
Killing Joke Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 They tried to import it in my country like 15 years ago, but it didn't work much. Now each year you may have one or 2 lost kids (barely disguised) knocking at the door for candy but that's about it. I despise most celebrations anyway like christmas, valentine's day and so on...
LaEspada Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Yea, I agree. I'd rather not fork over some cash just so the spoiled little brats in my neigherbood (not all of them obviously, just most of them ) can have some candy from a complete stranger.
Guest Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 It's heavily raining outside here. I can almost hear the collective disappointment of the children who shall cry into their empty candy buckets tonight. HEHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHHEEHHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHH *coughs*
Cynical Misanthrope Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Same here. Or any other holiday really.
UtherLabDragon Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Ehh... As far as cheap reasons to get wasted go halloween is kinda alright.
Chaos63 Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Pagan rituals? I'm a shitty enough Christian as it is, thanks.
Rayblue Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Halloween is for kids, so let them have their fun and as adults let's not take that away from them and keep things/beliefs to ourselves. And fuck political correctness, because it divides a nation more than it makes it tolerant. That's why we can't have nice things. https://ca.news.yahoo.com/blogs/dailybrew/happy-orange-and-black-day-canadian-schools-turn-122333329.html As far as cheap reasons to get wasted go halloween is kinda alright. THIS. I love a good brew and fucking cases of it whenever there's a holiday.
fizzybutt Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Candy goes on sale day after halloween, pumpkins get cheap so you can buy a crapton of them to roast seeds. I let other people buy into the commercialism that holidays have become so I get to enjoy the cheap prices as stores lose their heads trying to get rid of the excess while they scramble to put up the next high priced stuff.
Captain Cobra Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 No trick or treaters this Halloween either. Guess I'll have to eat this whole bowl of candy by myself.
Rayblue Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 No trick or treaters this Halloween either. Guess I'll have to eat this whole bowl of candy by myself. Considering your username, man...
Guest mercury11 Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I found it very strange, there was an abundant amount of hookers on the street, then I realized it was Halloween. But then again, I do live in the city.
Dr. Thang Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I love it, it's fun, and I find it kinda hard to complain about people having fun, you know? Besides, I started a tradition where every year I make this pasta with grilled chicken and sundried tomatoes in a marsala parmesan cream sauce, it's unbelievably epic.
Chbaakal Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 (sigh) It used to be fun, even into my adult years. Way back when I was 17 I hung motionless about 12 feet above a porch wearing a concealed harness tied to a chimney, low enough for all the kids to see but not poke with toy weapons. I had a noose around my neck, and my clothes and cloak were dirty and torn. When kids would get to the door, my friends would hand out the goods. As the kids were leaving, I would start to sway and moan, then twitch violently to scare the little buggers. One parent actually looked up, screamed and ran, leaving her 7-year old daughter staring at me in surprise. The little faerie princess even waved her wand at me, laughing, while her cowardly mom called to her from the street. Later that night five of us went out about midnight to TP houses and cars. Fun times. Now, the streets are deserted for the most part. Only saw three kids all night, and since no one seems to trust anyone anymore, the only places for a good All Hallows Eve for the kids are private parties held indoors by close, reliable neighbors and friends. Damn sad to live in an age of paranoia and mistrust. How will our children ward off evil spirits when they do not wander the streets in costume?
Brigade Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 What a load of heretics. Any form of celebration should be encouraged, unless it's at someone else's expense.

Kamen Rider Kuuga Posted November 1, 2014 Author Posted November 1, 2014 Thankfully none of the little bastards came to my place expecting free shit. This pleases me to no end.
xartom Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 I like eating a tenth of my weight in candy and pranks (candied onion anyone?), other stuff not so much. It rained, so it was really dead around here.
ButchDiavolo Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Halloween seems to be becoming more popular here in the Netherlands, but not for kids. It seems to be an opportunity for adults to dress up (usually as zombies *yawn*) and have a party. Of course we have a similar yet different tradition here. On Nov. 11th we "celebrate" St. Martin's Eve, where kids go from door to door carrying chinese lanterns and singing songs in praise of St. Martin's generousity. In return they get candy or another treat. In villages it is still wildly popular (cos CANDY!), but in cities it seems to have declined. As a kid I loved it (cos CANDY!), but as an adult not so much. I don't like children and especially singing children. So I am the resident "Kikkerbil die niets geven wil" (frog ass who doesn't share, which is a song they sing when you don't give a treat). But I am fine with that.
Darkening Demise Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Best part of Halloween? CHEAP candy afterwards! Time to build those cavities and chances of diabetes. We never get trick or treaters here....then again we live on the main road so it'd be a game of Frogger for them to get anything really. > There's also horror movies on for a change. Love the old school slasher flicks. If anything all holidays are bullshit and just for corporations to milk more out of you. Not to mention unless you're religious Christmas is pointless and probably the most greediest time of the year for humans. What was supposed to be a gathering of friends and family turned into a greedy who's got the most expensive gift. Kids man, half the shit seems meant for them too. Once you get older, these once so called special times of the year feel like complete bull.
ratrace Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 After having moved houses in july, I'm now happily living in a student quarter in my hometown. Almost no kids around here. And if someone of the female students want to trick or treat me, she may do so. But apart from this, I like kids, and if they want to have their fun on Halloween, it's fine with me.
Derethor Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Any holiday I know of I use as an excuse to get together with my group of friends, enjoy a brew, and do generally stupid things together. Halloween is no exception. I've taken an interested in the pagan side of holidays recently though, would definitely like to learn more about Samhain.
