ChianasGeek Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 I for one, am not remotely interested in TES - so I neither like nor dislike it (I was bullied into playing Oblivion, which lasted a couple of days compared to well over 1000 arns for each of FO3 and FNV). Â Not to say, that I wouldn't be interested in improvements to levelling system or other such things which might come from Skyrim, for ex. (The state of the art is a moving target, after all.) Â One thought I had, however unrealistic in expectation, was how cool it'd be to be able to climb stuff like you can in Assassin's Creed games...
maybenexttime Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 I heard rumors it won't show at this E3. Than I heard rumors it is 100% for sure showing up at E3. Seems like people are getting information and quoting sources from each other which leads back to the first person, who probably is either trolling or wanted attention.
Loogie Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 If there is anything that I wish differently it would be the level system. I think leaning in the direction of Skyrim's seems more reasonable to me in the sense that instead of gaining a level and boosting up both in your HP and AP you now have a choice and that choice depends on perhaps a typical class you pick. Maybe a sneaky sniper or a renegade gun machine or even a sneak melee fighter. And then you have perks paths similar to smithing for Skyrim, but instead for modern weapons in Fallout. I think restrictions for being able to modify armor and weapons should be placed as well. Just make it work ranking up mechanic perks or armor and weapon so you can customize your armor, harnesses and holsters for your guns. This type of approach would be something worth looking at, and I think it's the sense of direction they might be going if Fallout delays any longer. A bigger game world as Skyrims would definitely be nice too. Â An example as a sniper would be if I chose to be a sniper, I would lean more towards boosting my AP rather than HP since I would stand far back snipping bodies one at a time. The AP would focus on draining when I zoom in. Â Absolutely a bad idea. This would make as much sense as replacing Elder Scrolls leveling with with Fallout leveling. It has been the way it is since Fallout 1.
prideslayer Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Not all change is bad, brother! Â I don't now about that idea in particular, but I hate the idea of 'leveling' in general. Just let me spend whatever XP I have on whatever I want, whenever I want. Not sure how to handle SPECIAL points and perks, but haven't put more than 5 second thought into this.
Loogie Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 The original 3 Fallouts functioned that way; it irks me Fallout 3 and NV force you to spend your points.
prideslayer Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 The original 3 Fallouts functioned that way; it irks me Fallout 3 and NV force you to spend your points. Well that's annoying, but so is leveling to begin with. I'd like to see XP as just a sort of bank account. You accumulate it through direct experience and questing, and can spend it whenever you want in the character screen to raise skills. Â Just shouting at the wind though, there's no way such a drastic change will make it into either franchise any time soon.
Loogie Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 I misunderstood you. In the first 3 games you still leveled, but it was incumbent on you to go into the screen and do something about it. This let you bank perk and skillpoints.
Mailamea Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 One thing i know for sure is fo4 will be in a diff engine, specially ps4 and xbone computability. Lets home its not gamebyro 2 slapled in with a rename. Cough cough* creation engine.
ElectricSheep Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 One thing i know for sure is fo4 will be in a diff engine, specially ps4 and xbone computability. You believe in Santa Claus, too?
prideslayer Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014  One thing i know for sure is fo4 will be in a diff engine, specially ps4 and xbone computability. You believe in Santa Claus, too? Heh. It will almost certainly be the same engine as Skyrim, maybe the *graphics* engine modified to be more portable to consoles, but the game engine, CK, etc. I doubt we'll see many significant changes.
BruceWayne Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 I wouldn't be so sure, they'll probably do something to accomodate the next-gen consoles. But there will be most likely a lot of legacy stuff engine-wise that we all know and hate "love". Â It certainly would explain, why they take their sweet time with the announcement.Â
Mailamea Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 I belive it will be a new engine with the same style as gamebyro/creation. Since beth is a tripple a compqny and todd will be handling it when it is really official. I bet they will make it as aaa as posible, but i fear this will be dumbed down like tes and fo has been. Well lets just see what happens. 2016 is best bet for results. And to derail the thread check out new mmo borderlands warframe love child destiny.
zippy57 Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 I belive it will be a new engine with the same style as gamebyro/creation. Since beth is a tripple a compqnyI'll believe they're a Triple A company the next first time they release a game they actually bothered to put through QA.
ElectricSheep Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 I wouldn't be so sure, they'll probably do something to accomodate the next-gen consoles. But there will be most likely a lot of legacy stuff engine-wise that we all know and hate "love". There's almost a decade between TESIII and TESV, yet the games barely feel any different aside from the graphics. Anything they improved since 2002 is still lackluster and/or obsolete.
zippy57 Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 They may feel the same, but that's intentional and probably desired. Too much change and people will complain it's not TES anymore. Better to stick close to the formula.
ElectricSheep Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 I didn't mean the formula, but those lackluster things like AI, animations, collisions, physics etc. combined. Non linear quest also wouldn't hurt.
RitualClarity Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 I don't believe in anything anymore. They will announce when it's time.  Although I think it be real funny (and sad) if they announce Elder Scrolls 6 instead. Imagine the rage... There was two Fallouts between the time Oblivion and Skyrim... They might be working primarily on another Skyrim.. However I don't see any more land for them to work on..that is without returning to a previous land.  I for one will wait until it is released. I will play other games until then. If they don't want my money.. don't release the games I want... simple as that. Skyrim and Oblivion both were bought with deep discounts. (Skyrim not as much but still on a pretty good sale considering it is still popular) If they release another TES I will wait until it is at 50% or less sale before buying it unless they seriously fix these modding issues.
Halstrom Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 It's also possible the current bean counters don't want to do any development of anything because they think the Skyrim Cash Cow will survive long enough to see their contracts out and they bail, then await a 3rd party analyst company to confirm it's dead before realising they need to start a new project.
RitualClarity Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 I dont think that is the way it works. They have people being paid. They dam well will be making them do something. If something happens and they can use those assets in the future for a game great if not at least if they shut down they can say they have x% of work done on a game that will be the next block buster and use that as a barging chip for sales of the company or even parts of the company (rights) like Skyrim dev, Fallout dev etc. Â I think they will be better off with allowing those that helped develop Fallout and grow the game the chance to build the next version. It will help keep the franchise more coherent and give a better flow. Who else has the vision of the game world than those that developed the game in the first place?
maybenexttime Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Are you suggesting there might be two elder scolls before the next fallout?  My god...Â
RitualClarity Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Are you suggesting there might be two elder scolls before the next fallout?  My god...  Yes. If memory serves me correctly there were two fallout one right after the other, and before those several Elder-scrolls. Now if they follow the pattern, there will be another one. Now does the online version count?
zippy57 Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 FO3 and FNV came out right after each other because there were practically no changes to the engine between them, especially compared to the difference between Morrowind and Oblivion or Oblivion and Skyrim.
prideslayer Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 The gap between FO3 and FONV is actually the same as between Obv and FO3. ~2 years.
Loogie Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Yeah, but Bethesda didn't make NV. Also, Fallout 3 had been in development since 2004.
