Mailamea Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 Or we just dont know it but fo4 has been on development secretly for years now. Lol
BruceWayne Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 Well, there you go: https://twitter.com/DCDeacon/status/468016132084207616 No FO4 at E3.
Chaos63 Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 Knowing them, the next Fallout will most likely use the same engine we got in the last two games. If there was ever a series that was spoiled by it's modding community, this is it.

I actually think a long time means a long time, probably not for a year or so for just the announcement. Fallout 3 was announced in 2004 and released in 2008.
RitualClarity Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 Pete Hines @DCDeacon May 18 @iTz_Reaper good for them. Different teams, different types of games. It will take as long as it takes. I am fine with that so long as they make a good product. Maybe now the gaming companies are learning to not rush out a product before it is ready.. sits hopefully.
KomradePavlov Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 I concur, Honestly, I just want to know that a new fallout game is coming. Worrying about weather or not its gonna be good is for when its a few weeks before release.

Other modders can play guinea pig preordering or buying at launch, I'm not buying another one until after the CK is released.

Though you do have a point with most people, I honestly have never had any of the issues and gripes people report on release days. Then again, with Fallout (or even Skyrim) I'm usually just exploring and doing quests like the devs kinda expect people to do when they play the games, not dicking around with things that to me just don't make sense to do. I also usually don't start looking for mods or 3rd party fixes until after I've played the game though once or twice. That's not my personal rule mind you, just how things tend to pan out. Not trying to be argumentative or accuse anyone of things, just trying to explain my thoughts.

I had no problems with the game itself (other than it being boring), I only bought it to mod it, and a month or two before release they had said that the CK would be out "immediately" following release. It took a few weeks IIRC, then we all discovered it was incomplete, and a bunch of people were involved in figuring out how to create the animations. Personally I've found the 4 gamebryo games I've played (obv, skyrim, fo3, fonv) to be fairly boring as RPGs and, at this point, only open them up to mod or play mods. I won't be buying the next one in either series until after the CK is out, and we know we can make it do what we want. obv: never really even 'played'. Bought only to help with inspiration for sexout stuff. skyrim: play on and off. never completed or even come close. boring. fo3: played through 2-3 times before using or making any mods. fonv: never completed. story doesn't "do it" for me.

Maybe they are using the same management ideology as AMC with Walking Dead series, releasing DVD sets only 12monthly like Lord of the Rings, but with everyone other than US receiving it near 12 months after them, Australia is just watching Season 2 on Free to Air TV and doesn't get the Season 4 DVD release till August and Season 5 on Fox till March 2015 so it seems Season 5 for Australia DVD release will be August 2015 and they wonder why DVD piracy is rampant and it won't sell at $69
BruceWayne Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Buying Beth games on release, is beta participation. Nowadays, people even pay full-price for the privilege of playing actual alpha/beta versions of games. But I don't know, I've never had any major problems with Beth games on release. Admittedly all of their games are better when modded, though I've never been really into modding until a couple of years ago. I've played Oblivion and FO3 on Xbox 360 initially, for crying out loud. That didn't really stood in the way of my enjoyment of those games, though they do get more dull, more quickly, without mods. I'm obviously not trying to convince anyone of the contrary, but it would be very difficult for me to find motivation to mod a game, if I don't really enjoy playing it. I mean I can download and make mods to change/include almost every aspect of a game, but if I find the game itself is shit, this becomes the proverbial polishing of a turd. Exceptions are total conversions (like Project Brazil, Nehrim, etc.), which change all aspects like quests/gameplay/progression in a major way.
prideslayer Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Hah Bruce.. I'm at the point that I don't enjoy *any* of these games without the sex mods. There are exceptions with other games of course; like you, I play some on xbox. Mass effect series, dragon age, etc. If I did buy those for the PC and got involved in some sex modding stuff, I'd probably lose interest in the vanilla aspect of them two. Now I won't buy an RPG for the PC unless it looks like it's going to be "easy" to mod for sex *OR* the RPG itself just looks really awesome. ME1 was "really awesome", I'd buy that for PC if it was just come out today in a heartbeat, even with no modding capability. TES and Fallout? No sexmods = no interest.
BoozeJunky Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 I also usually don't start looking for mods or 3rd party fixes until after I've played the game though once or twice. That's not my personal rule mind you, just how things tend to pan out. I started Morr, Obliv, FO3, NV, Skyrim on consoles, so that's how it worked out for me as well. The next ES or FO game I'll get for PC first, and I've already adopted a kind of rule like that. After all, it seems like a good idea to be fairly familiar with what already works in the game (and what doesn't) before I start searching for mods that change it's function. Plus, the really good mods probably won't be out for a while after the launch of the CK/GECK. Anyhow, I'm kind of hoping to see a change in location. Boston has already been eluded to, but after hearing Randall's description of Louisiana in NV Bounties, I think that the New Orleans/Gulf Coast area would be a great place to explore as well and really give Bethesda some creative license to do some interesting stuff with the unique atmosphere down there.
