My vague recollection of the first image said the Reach and I think the second image confirms it.  No idea of the name of the place, I can't see anything on the interactive map. Is it something to do with dragon worshippers or similar?

The Reach ist correct, but none of the places I've shown have any relevance. They're just there to fill the landscape, you won't be able to find it on the interactive map (not unless they've invented Skyrim Mountain View or whatever the equivalent of Google Street View would be)

Is there some sort of note or something which mentions something something about what the place is?

If it hasn't got a name may I suggest the grave of legendary Reachman Clive "Snake-hips" Tompkins, winner of the All Skyrim Bossa Nova Cup three years on the run in the early Third Era. Not 100% lore-friendly but close enough for me.

Here we go

No, here we leave Lost Valkygg. There should be a dead Draugr Lord in the picture somewhere...

I thought it would either be too easy or too difficult. That's the first time in years that I've been in there and I can see why - complete waste of time.

Yes, that's just a ruin without any story attached, not even the lone prisoner is his cell has anything that would make it interesting.

Back to that mountain crease with the dead sabre cat - you're not giving up, do you? On top of that mountain is another unmarked structure, of Dwemer origin this time.

Sorry, I thought we'd done that one. I haven't got a clue.

Oh well, I thought anyone could participate. Don't inhale the fumes on your way uphill, "I believe I can kill!"

Something easy in between:

You know, if memory serves (a big if) the location in question was posted by @Grey Cloud several years ago. I distinctly remember saying that there was no such place in unmodded Skyrim. He and @worik insisted that it was real. It's location was never described and I have never found it in my many trips through the Reach (which is where I was told that it could be found). So, no, I don't have a guess.

Unmodded Skyrim, both the pillar and the dead sabre cat. It's been there in LE and still is on AE.

When you follow the marker from Karthwasten to the Shrine of Peryite in a more or less straight line, jump-climbing the direct route as to avoid the bear on the normal approach, you should come across this pillar, and further uphill (a wee bit to the left) is the dead cat.

I haven't been near there so I still can not confirm it's existence. In the meantime, an easy one:

yup, easy. Didn't recognise it right away (I hate trolls and rarely go there) but had one idea and confirmed my first guess. Not solving, because other people shall have their fun, too.

No idea here, I fear.

Back in the day, when you were collecting trolls for your mob, I recommended this location to you as a good place to find some.

And, although it may not seem like it, it's in Falkreath Hold.

By marriage, I guess. "You take my ugly daughter out of my hands and I'll give you this even uglier cave as dowry."

Oh, and keep the broken furniture, it's not that I'd have any use for it.

Follower: "Oh look, the entrance to a cave. They can be quite the adventure if you know what you are doing".

Me: "And a friggin' death-trap if you don't".

Pretty bland as cave entrances go.

One of those Falmer infested places I only visit when some radiant quest sends me there. And I was never able to reach Morrowind...

In the meantime, we can pray to Lady Mara that we don't even meet Tolvald.

It was certainly that. It was like I had stumbled on some sort of falmer convention with all sort of weird and wonderful delegates from different mods all somewhat miffed at my intrusion.

Slightly NW of Volunruud?

I mean this place

The only other outdoor shrine is the 'Dead Lovers' which is not snowy.

I'm very well aware which place you meant - but do you see that prominent arch in my picture?

(I'm not even aware of the dead lovers shrine)

This is to the far east and might be affected by the cicil war (just like a some of shrines in the forts)

Given the picture (which appears to be a shrine of Arkay and not Mara) and the clue about the Civil War, I suspect that this shrine is just north of the Winterhold Stormcloak Camp (when the Imperials control Winterhold).
