Apropos - Feature Request and Descriptions Submission

I guess nobody has written anything for them yet, or they're just not widely used enough. I think the standard db only covers the animations included with SexLab, so anything from a SLAL pack or another animation set you'll have to write yourself. There's no generic (i.e., not for a specific animation) threesome description set like there is for anal, oral, etc. so Apropos can't pull from the generic descriptions, though a generic description set probably wouldn't be a bad idea.

 

As I said, Vauria's Apropos Edit support thread has a guide on how to get the internal animation names, and by looking at the file and folder structure you should have a clear idea of how the naming conventions go:

 

 

You need to create a new set based off the name of the animation. Easiest way to do that is:

  • Check the debugging options in the Apropos MCM
  • Use a mod like Sexlab Tools to make it easier to look for and start the animation you want
  • Play the animation (Be careful about using Defeat or SLTools to switch to the animation, it doesn't seem to send all the Animation Change events that Apropos looks for, so chose the one before it then press O to switch to your desired animation
  • Open the console and look below "[Apropos] ---- AnimationStart----" or "[Apropos] ---- AnimationChange ----" for a line that looks like:
    • [Apropos] Animation: 'FunnyBizness Molag Hard Miss' ('FB_MolagHardMiss') (MF,Missionary,Aggressive,Vaginal,Rape,forced,Dirty,sex,FunnyBizness,FM)
    • [Apropos] Animation: 'FunnyBizness Necro Doggy' ('FB_NecroDoggy') (MF,AggressiveDefault,Aggressive,Dirty,DoggyStyle,Doggy,Vaginal,sex,BBP,forced,Necro,FunnyBizness,FM)
  • The quoted part in brackets, like FB_MolagHardMiss or FB_NecroDoggy, is the internal animation name, so you need new files under FemaleActor_FB_NecroDoggy
  • Load up the Apropos Editor and pick a position that might have some good base lines, like FemaleActor_Male Vaginal Rape, then click Copy to New Position.
  • Enter "FemaleActor_" followed by the animation name, and particularly if you're looking at FunnyBiz's stuff, add _Rape at the end.
  • The editor will make new files based on that name and insert the animation's name into Apropos' unique animations list.
  • You can add or remove stages to match the number of stages in the animation, and then add or remove any lines.
  • Save your work, then re-launch the game if you're using MO (and maybe with the newer NMM) so the new files are added to the virtual directory.
  • Play the animation and your new lines should play along side.

I look at the animation files themselves to work out how many stages an animation 'officially' has, but you don't need to fill out every stage if some of them are just transitions or not significantly different. (Some animations I have installed have 7-8 stages in their files, but some of them are hard to tell apart so I just write descriptions for the stages that actually look different.)

 

Vauria's Apropos Edit is probably the best tool for actually writing the descriptions so far, since it doesn't mess up the JSON validity or formatting requirements, it'll automatically add animations to UniqueAnimations.txt (not that you can't do that by hand but it speeds things up) plus you can simulate a scene to see how well your word choices worked.

 

(As for references, Leito definitely has preview GIFs for all (or at least most) of his animations on his blogs, and FunnyBizness is the same. For more obscure packs you may need to DIY it or make reference videos. I find FRAPS is the best tool for that; I run FRAPS videos through Handbrake afterwards to reduce their filesize as well.)

I saw this thread, not knowing it existed, and thought I'd suggest a few things, mention an issue, and I see that a lot of folks are writing their own scripts for this mod! That's really impressive by the way.

 

Okay. So I just recently discovered Apropos (I know, right? :blush: ) And I absolutely love it. I was playing last night and noticed that several times my male PC would say to the girl he was shagging, "You are much better than my man..." or something like that. I know it's him because it says his name in parenthesis before the comment and after he cums. In the MCMs for all the SexLab mods I have installed and in SexLab they recognize him as male and heterosexual, and other mods have Female as his preferred gender of choice. So, is that a bug?

 

Secondly, I know nothing about script writing so I was going to suggest if it was possible for consensual, love making, or sex with a PC's spouse, that the freaky comments could be changed to something more suitable for the situation or person the PC is with? My guy hasn't gotten married yet but, is going to propose soon and I don't like the idea of him calling his wife a "cum slut" when they are in bed. :P I have Spouses Enhanced and have used it on previous plays and like the dirty options for having sex and role playing however, I haven't tried using both Apropos and said mod at the same time. I would have no idea how it would work in terms of what lines are used when certain things are proposed sexually.

 

And if I'm to understand this correctly, in terms of the do-it-yourself script writing, the lines a person writes are associated with a position (animation)?

Right now there isn't any situational or controllable method for certain kinds of dialog. You can't have loving dialog in one location and slut bashing in another.

 

You can write lines for animations and use mods to select which anim to play with a lover vs a whore if you want, or use the themes system and switch (out of game) which ones are used (set one to 100% and the others to 0) for different playthroughs.

 

Next, check the lines for the animations you were using, and see if they were using the male on female lines and not the female on male. I think the maleactor lines should not have "better than my man" lines, but you might want to check.

Which I did. There are some animations that lack the proper messages with stages and what-not. I already filled 4 of these and hoping to do more in fact.

 

These are all creature animations so far;

1 Deer/Elk (Anubs_Nature)

1 Horker (HorkerSex)

I have checked my files and found that Horker animation is added through MNC (More Nasty Critters), also went on ahead and searched the MNC thread, it would seem it was submitted by llabsky. Both the nude model and the animation.

 

Here are the files I picked through ".../meshes/actors/horker"

 

It goes to the destination I have given above, check the attachments for the rar file.

 

You also might need to update the SLanims as well, the json file I mean. Although I dont seem to have any json file related to MNC, so I assume Sexlab just handles integrally without needing SLAL.

 

I should have put my request here instead of the main:  If someone has made realistic rape comments for female PC as victim, could you post it here?  Or if you already have, give me a link.  Thanks.

 

You know It would be a fun adventure for me to write a "rape" message series. Although I might need some specific details. Could you PM me with a few lines you had in mind? So that I can understand the intensity and severity of the rape theme for the animation messages.

Yes, MNC, I found it. All your descriptions are unique animations - two for skeevers, but there are more than two skeever animations, so any other animations that are played are not going to show anything. What we need are tag-based, non-unique animations for the skeever tag. 

 

Horkers and Deer not so much since there are very few animations for those.

Maybe so, although the detailed depictions are much higher quality with the unique animation listing. A skeever tagged animation may not have written the lines about the position of the female actor (lying on back, on top, sideways etc.) accurately and immersively. The messages would be too broad and not-so-specialistic. Perhaps a daring ambition but I am planning on listing messages for all the animations without any message support so far. I am sure you can imagine how sharply it would affect the harmony of the message and the animation.

 

Time consuming, yes, but very rewarding for the users as well. The real gem here is to have other people's creativity and feedback as well.

 

If you really are open for suggestions, I actually had an idea.

 

The animations are currently loading the messages based on the actors and their partners, followed by stage numbers with additional synonym support for SexLab Arousal. How about an optional feature that checks the arousal of the primary actor to display messages from a separate list.

 

Just like the "..._rape_stage1" tag, we could have 2 variations. "..._Higharousal_Stage1" and "..._Lowarousal_stage1" and so on. In fact we can even extend it with "..._Higharousal_rape_Stage1"... for multiple variations. I am aware that some of these would require additional brainstorming as to add more messages, but in fact some of the messages are more aroused-looking than others, so we can just divide accordingly? And again, could be an optional feature that adds sexual immersion.

LOL. Yes, of course I agree. But keep in mind that unique animation support is a recent thing in Apropos. People loved Apropos even with just tagged animation support for over a year. I think the winning combo is to have good nominal support per race for tagged animations, and on top of that unique animations. The reason is that new animations are written all the time (just look at FunnyBiz's output), so the tagged animations provide a very important role.

While the complexity might not result in added benefit, a dual tag system might lend itself toward those positioning comments Vae brought up.

 

Pair vaginal/anal/oral with facing, cowgirl or some other limited set for vaginal_facing_stage or anal_cowgirl_rape_stage system.

But as much as I am intrigued about these ideas, I am currently focusing on long-standing issues with Apropos, as well as preparing for the release of a family of Apropos-related mods (Apropos Track, Apropos Achievements, Apropos Trends and others). As far as core Apropos is concerned I am rebuilding the logic around a new set of file naming and formats discussed in the past. Full support for MM, FF, FemDom, Pegging, etc. are all part of the central concerns for me now.

Can I make a request as well?

 

Hopefully it will be fairly easy.

 

Can you significantly drop the lower limit on 'Maximum Wear Tear Value' please?

I use quite agressive wear and tear settings because I enjoy a lot of the tension that comes from things like 'Oh dear, I need to speak to this person whilst still wearing a slave collar...is it all going to go wrong?'.

A lot of that tension comes from wear and tear settings, but I am finding the ones in Apropos are coming in too slowly for my prefence.

 

Which is a bit of a pity, as they are both more detailed than the effects in Sexlab Wear and Tear, but there should also be the Slave Tats support - when my character get's gang banged by bandits, I might even be able to see the after effects!

Any possibility of future apropos releases being compatible with Estelles Apropos Utility? The text to speech feature from that one is pretty cool when combined with your apropos mod. I use the Apropos_Beta_2014_10_21_01 version since that's the one that still works with that utility. If you're not ever planning to though that's understandable. Estelle said that it would be a lot of work to make it compatible with the newer versions of apropos. Here's the last thing he ever posted about it from the support topic:

I will not support the new (2015) version of apropos, It's quite a lot of work and, I'm not actually playing skyrim anymore.
The source code is in the download, so if some autohotkey experienced person wants to try fixing it they're welcome. (but some warning. it's code is pretty messy and undocumented,  :) ) best way to go about it would be to rewrite the whole logfile-parsing part of the program.. and remove the female-female scene part because thats in the new version anyway.

So that's it, I probably will not be back on LL for some time. It was fun maintaining the mod and I'm glad lots of people liked it.

Not a request, but a suggestion.

 

In my personal apropos utility, I have manually added other syntax options.

Such as;

 

VCUM (Verb-Cum)

 

as it stands, the variables are limited, there are [CUM] - [CUMMING] - [CUMS] and so on. By adding [VCUM] and proper lines (like Cum, Ejaculate, Release, Unload and so on) it is possible to greatly enhance the diversity and originality.
