Aki K Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 Most other sites load very quickly for me, including mod sites. Lately every time I navigate to a new page, this site seems very slow. I just want to see if its something on my end or if other people are experiencing this.
Varithina Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 It seems to be very on and off, sometimes it takes forever to open pages or change areas, or open notifications up, other times it is blinding fast, and it does not appear to be time of day based either, I have very vague memories of it being stated that they were having dos attacks at one point, maybe they are still getting them on of off still?

Psalam Posted February 5, 2024 Posted February 5, 2024 I note that everyone who has posted on this Thread so far is a Member - not one Supporter (at least until me). It reminds me of something. Hmmmm. Something about a Little Red Hen perhaps? 3
pinky6225 Posted February 5, 2024 Posted February 5, 2024 Seems based on load/time of day to me, earlier on today it was instant but now it takes a few seconds to load and later on tonight it will prolly take about 10 seconds

Next time someone reports an issue with one of my mods I´m just gonna go like: "you aren't paying me money on subscribestar, everything you say is invalid, shut up peasant" Seriously though. basic website functionality should be a given. At the very least it is on nexus, arca, and every russian clone of LL which is also based on Invision... And I´m not paying money to either of those as well. 8
Vexing Vixen Posted February 12, 2024 Posted February 12, 2024 I mean sometimes. Been re-building my mod list and loverslab has been a very good site for those "mods" but it's fast enough for me to go through 50+ mods here just fine. Maybe it depends on the time of day as the site might be busy. (maybe?)
Devinaz Posted February 22, 2024 Posted February 22, 2024 It is, however it's quicker on Edge. But still slow..
Guest Posted February 22, 2024 Posted February 22, 2024 Can't it be both? But yeah, seems slow recently (emphasis on "seems").
violisa Posted February 25, 2024 Posted February 25, 2024 It feels really slow maybe i sign up at the wrong time
Wandering_Mania Posted February 25, 2024 Posted February 25, 2024 Yes, I have noticed this happening as well. "But it's nice to see you Mr. Classicism; Say, have you seen a Staff member around?..." Yes, that line is pulled from 'Tommy Boy'. But you know it's real nice to be told that 'just because we don't pay, we must be full of shit'.

I'm still not sure whether those who have been espousing this are deflecting or whether they really believe that I think so little of them. My point was, is, and shall remain, that those who don't pay are in no position to complain about those things that require money to provide. The site's speed is a reflection of its hardware and software. Those things cost money. When there is more money coming in to the site we will be able to provide better hardware and software and, therefore, faster service. So, you see, I don't think that Members are "full of shit" but some do appear to be that cheap. 😉 1

When even that isn't supplied, even though we are not 'thoughst holiest of paying members', our complaints are valid. And if you want to cite me for being ornery about this, all it says to me is that this site is starting to show the same 'warning signs' of 'testing the waters', that that other modding site has already 'dove head first' into, by outright removing mods and banning people for creating them. 1

I was a supporter, until you ditched patreon, simply too much hassle to set up for the new place, mostly finding out which sites and scripts have to be allowed for it to work, so never bothered, and I am not around as much as I used to be previously.

I completely understand. I am not fond of third party work of any sort either. Sadly, it was necessary when Patreon decided that it didn't want us. Even more unfortunately, that decision of theirs cut significantly into the Site's income. 1

Just an idea: According to the LL page on Subscribe Star: 45.1% income, to cover the monthly costs. Hmmmmm, maybe LL needs a second leg to walk properly?maybe LL needs a second leg? What about a Fundraiser? If some people don't want to pay monthly, mabe the pay once a year, in a fundraiser? Found this Introductory Guide to Crowdfunding for Adult Filmmakers = if they can make it ... Adult-Friendly is a MUST. Review a crowdfunding platform’s Terms of Service before launching a campaign. Long time mod authors such as myself (since 2015) who have always used adblock are the ones driving traffic to your site in the first place and have every right to complain about site performance, especially when some of us feel that LL is one of the few actually safe places for us to post our mods without constant harassment from the larger mod community. 4 hours ago, User39042 said: Another thing I'd like to offer for consideration is a script that runs during server maintenance, which cleans up 5-year-old media and user-attachments and stores it in a compressed archive, removing it from LL's static registry. It could replace the hyperlink with alt text like: "Asset has been archived and is no longer accessible." or whatever. LL shouldn't be used by users as long-term file storage, which requires corporation levels of infrastructure to maintain. Tape drives would be a sound investment. They're inexpensive and tapes can still store massive amounts of data. Stuff that is infrequently accessed, like the middle of large threads such as the "show yourself" threads, should have its content offloaded to tape drives. Even a tape raid array would work. Prompting users to load this old media ("Archived media. Click to view. Please wait...") would be a better option than outright removing it. As I said, I've been here since 2015 and recently transitioned to this account. Site performance has always been inconsistent. Weekends rarely have much to do with server load. One of the biggest contributors to server load is the massive amount of image sharing. This website has an asinine amount of images for a site that is not an image board. Forcing users to compress their images, or using a script/program/applet/plugin to compress uploaded media like other image boards already do would help significantly. Websites like Reddit and Imgur actually analyze uploaded media and see if it matches pre-existing media. File size, dimensions, color palette, file headers, etc are all parsed and if an uploaded image has a certain match, it's actually deleted and replaced with a pre-existing image. Your advice consists of about 120 words. The average speech tempo is about 150 words per minute. You're breathing about 8 litres of air per minute, which weighs about 10,4g. Current price per gramm of gold is 60,37€ (64,90 USD) times 10,4 = 627,84 € (678,14 USD). Yes. I am bored. 4

To account for the stark difference between the Actual value of the advice and its PERCIEVED value by its author, I would recommend we use Brass instead of Gold. Using the same math lands us at an approximate value of 7 cents. I think that's more accurate. 1
