Policy, people! You can hate the person with every fiber of your being - so long as the policies they support make sense to you, THAT is who you should vote for! You are voting for a POLICY, not a PERSON!!! Wrong. Politicians are also supposed to be diplomats. If they aren't liked then they suck at being a politician. Period.

Well, no, given the fact that, like any other rational human, they understand that they come first, and literally everyone else comes second at best by default. As my training years ago pointed out (paraphrase): 'You can't help anyone else if you don't look out for yourself first and thus get yourself in trouble and thus end up in need of the very resources you are supposed to be bringing to aid others.' It's not 'evil' on the surface, but it is absolutely reality. The problem is that most of them, regardless of what they say, are very clearly out for themselves and stupidly far removed from the reality of the various people they are supposedly representing.

You haven't addressed what I said at all. I intentionally said "supposed to be" and that is exactly what I meant. Speaking of things I am sick of people saying. People would say "I didn't vote for this" and I would say "Yes. Yes you did vote for this." Just because one doesn't pay attention doesn't mean one can feign ignorance now that the bullshit is happening. Admitting you made a mistake is what leads to growth as a person or at the very least learning from your mistake. Otherwise you're fucked in this world. Kindness actually fucking matters and if you think otherwise then you don't deserve kindness. It doesn't matter what military you have. If you manage to piss off enough people you're fucked as a politician and individuals have died for less.

The problem with "I didn't vote for this!" is, again, the fact that you only get two options. Bad and worse. The only question is 'Which do you believe is which?' The fact is, the general population will never step back far enough to look at the big picture and realize that it really is the commoners (ALL of them) against the elites. The elites are using the system THEY created to fuck the rest of us over. ALL of us. And they laugh at how stupid we are for believing that they would actually give us any choice in the matter. The whole 'political party' thing is nothing more than giving us something to get us arguing with each other about while the elites and their corporations - OH! I mean "people", because apparently businesses are legally considered 'people' now by the system - fuck us over. Don't believe me? Look at 2020. Look at the decisions these people make that they will never, ever pay the consequences for. The problem is that the commoners think the elites actually care about them. They don't. But, again, the elites work very hard at getting the commoners to believe that other people with no power and no money, and subsequently no control are the source of the problems. It's amazing that anyone would actually believe that, but they absolutely do. Solution: Don't bother. Let it all collapse. Fuck it. If you live outside a major population center, you vote, your "say" doesn't matter anyway because there will always be more of them than there are of you. And don't worry. Those in power know how to keep their power, while stripping you of yours by making you believe that you have no power. Mr. Carlin on the subject: Spoiler

Mr. Carlin on the subject: Reveal hidden contents Once again you are failing to address my point. While policy does matter statistically people who are kind are more likely to hold up to their end of the deal. Both policy and kindness are important. Mind you this is a statistic. This is not true 100% of the time. Despite the fact that you skipped over parts of my post I did read yours. The video you sent brings up some interesting points. Carlin says a lot of things. Many I agree with and many I don't. He both addresses why people are the idiots who vote for shitty politicians while spouting out how people in power control everything so why bother voting? Contradictory I know but all his points are understandable but not always true if that makes any sense. That and he is funny as hell. One of the points he makes seems to run counter to yours. The one that suggests voting is pointless. Why worry about telling people to vote based on policy if voting is pointless? Now I am not agreeing with Carlin. Voting is important but fuck does it feel pointless. Between the ever increasing population of the United States and the weird point system it often feels like people have no choice in the matter. Was 2020 when Hunter was pardoned for doing the drugs?
Count Chocula Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Appending "-wise" to words, as in something like "entertainment-wise, which do you prefer, soccer or ice hockey?"
Wandering_Mania Posted April 22 Posted April 22 There's a few things I'm sick of hearing: "Don't lose hope." Even if I once had a little 'hope', it has long since been lost. And anyone who says that to me can just FTFO. Another is, "There's someone for everyone.". Yeah, well, if that was true, odds are, that 'someone' for me, has long since been terminated. And the final one (for now) is: "All men are...". Doesn't really matter what comes after that, because it's usually said by some man hating female, and it's usually bad. And 'NOT all men are' whatever they say we are.
Count Chocula Posted April 27 Posted April 27 (edited) Using the word "hack" to describe an alternative or (purportedly) novel way of performing a task or using an item. Journalists (or, worse, self-styled "influencers") use it way too much. It's even worse if it's described as a "life hack." I find its use more annoying than listening to an 8-year old kid constantly chant "six SE-ven as he trailed behind his mother at the grocery store (which I witnessed just a few days ago). Wandering_Mania Posted April 27 Posted April 27 (edited) Another thing I'm sick of... Non-modders, and game companies calling "all mods cheats". Not all 'cheats' are mods, and not all mods include 'cheats'. In fact, some mods even increase the difficulty of the game. As I'm sure everyone on this thread knows. But the people who say that stuff, are speaking from a place of pure ignorance. They don't understand, thus they automatically start throwing the accusations. I HATE those freakin' morons! And that false accusation. Edited April 27 by Wandering_Mania 2

RedHeadAngel Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Here’s one that nearly made me vomit. Someone in my family said my grandmother is “66 years young.” Are you fucking kidding me? No, asshole. She’s 66 years old, and she’s proud of it. Hell, she wears her age like a badge of honor. 1
Grey Cloud Posted May 2 Posted May 2 I'm old enough to remember when everything was 'egregious'. You couldn't step through your front door without tripping over something egregious. Now you can't buy it for love nor money. How long will it be before we are looking back at 'moving forward'? 1

porkybork Posted May 5 Posted May 5 “You’re not mad enough about (insert thing)” and “you don’t hate (insert another thing) enough”. There’s so much going on in my own neck of the woods, not to mention the whole world, that makes me angry. There are also systems in place that make fighting against them virtually impossible unless you have a literal army on your side to take those things on. Also, there phrases are overwhelmingly—in my experience—spoken by people who would never be willing to put their own necks on the line for whatever cause they’re talking about, and would rather be provocateurs sitting on the sidelines while shit kicks off. Are there terrible things happening in the world? Yes, there always is. Are people not doing enough to stop them? Who’s to judge? You can’t expect people that are just trying to make ends meet risk their entire lives for something they’re not even remotely prepared to tackle. Kinda rambling, but yeah, I’m tired of hearing these phrases from people whose idea of activism begins and ends with being mad on the internet.

It just describes cases where causality doesn’t give a single predictable outcome. It’s a mathematical tool, not something outside science. With that perspective it doesn't violate anything. Science, math, and concepts like randomness are human frameworks for describing reality. They’re not absolute truth itself, but models that help us interpret and predict what we observe. If you ask for my personal view however, I think we are only seeing a tiny drop while missing the ocean. It serves our purpose and therefore we don't think bigger.
Omnishade Posted June 8 Posted June 8 (edited) When people take things out of context and claim you mean something you didn't, or don't ever bother trying to understand what you actually said. Also words like fam, dude, ambiguous acrynums like TTYL, NGL, IYKYK, or phrasing that require knowledge of common internet slang like "Ate and left no crumbs". We don't have to create a new language because we are on the internet. (I probably sound old now, lol) Edited June 8 by Omnishade
