Baldurs gate 3?

If these kinds of fixes and additions continue, no one will be able to pretend that the game launched in a perfect status. Of course, it might also make it a lot more worthwhile for anyone who decided to wait to see what the game shapes up into (such as myself).

What's BG3's mod potential? I read that Larian will release a mod kit eventually. I was never a fan of Larian's Divinity games so not sure of what the mod community have done with Divinity Engine in the past. Kinda surprise at this thread given the reviews that BG3 is the best RPG since or even better than DA:O.

Not much from what little I've read. The editor didn't allow much and the games just weren't popular enough to garner much interest. For one thing, I don't see any morphs to work with for some BS equivalent in this game like we do with Beth games. So it'll be straight model replacement and textures mostly at first unless somebody can "build" something allowing morphs I guess. Next is scripting and either edited or new animations- which as far as I know- is wholly dependent on the editor they give us and game design. We just have to wait and see what they give us, but the game is good enough in my estimation to warrant a lot of attention from the community.

Don't think there is any way to fix that shitty camera though. But watch the community prove me wrong yet again. :classic_tongue:

This is what I use:

Native Mod Loader

https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/944

Native Camera Tweaks

https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/945

Much better for moving the camera around but it does still require hitting one of the WASD keys to unstick it and return focus to the active party member. Simple enough to install and uninstall - just drag n drop. Doesn't touch game files so no problems with saves etc if you remove it.

There's a companion mod:

WASD Character Movement

https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/781?tab=files&file_id=10603

I've not installed this yet (forgot about it ?) but same deal installing and uninstalling.

Currently over 1700 mods on Nexus - mostly kiddies doing get items/spells without meeting the prerequisites but it's still early days.

I guess most of you weren't Bioware fans? Because this is pretty much their style to a tee. I'm certainly not complaining since some of my fondest gaming memories are the rich characters and branching story arcs that they did so well imo. The gameplay core mechanics are done well enough to build on and expand.

BTW- large file size is because of the huge amount of unique models and textures/scripted events & outcomes they put into this. What needs a lot of work is the animations and general lack of graphical optimization.

Have you left Act 1 yet? I'm half-way(-ish) through Act 2 and have probably given up after last night.

Bummer on the cooler front.

I've about given up on the game. I've just been looking a mod for increasing the party size so I might give that a go tomorrow (midnight here) and go daft for the rest of the game.

I've missed a lot of dialogue since I prefer using the same followers all the time. The battles are mostly about drawing you into a prepared battlefield. So I try to tactical withdraw when I can to draw them out instead. Odd that they didn't include an escape option.

There is a 'flee combat' option. Never used it myself but I think it pops up if you try to leave the map or go to camp when in combat.

That's the one. Do you use it?

Yeah, it's pretty good. There's a few occasional bugs that you have to work around. Gyrmforge is the big one. But overall, really nice.

Game do have bugs. But compared to to other releases its most complete game in existence of modern gaming. Their Vulkan implementation is ass tho. I literally did it better with Vulkan SDK and one sleepless night( can run game 60 fps 1080p with ultra on mobile rx 560)

Still don`t know what  shader caused the OG game Vulkan crashed tho

I know about the Grymforge boat glitch but I'm in Act 2.

Interesting thing with Vulkan.

Never had any of the problems with the game or saves not loading. Never had any problems with any of the hotfixes or patches either. Larian's BG3 forum is full of complaints.

I've used various reshaders since EA and from day one with the full release.

Anyway, the other night I had a sneaky thought about using a reshade. So I decide to do a little experiment.

I always run games directly from the exe.

Currently using reshade with DX11 so I switched over to Vulkan and reshade. Save loaded without a problem.

Removed the reshade, still on Vulkan - game hung on loading.

Switched over to no reshade and DX11 - game and save loaded without problem.

I posted this on the BG3 forum and asked people to give it a go and post results. I even offered to help people install the reshade. Last time I looked (last night) around 150 people had viewed the post yet not one posted anything at all. Today there are still people posting and whinging about the game crashing. Some of them don't even know that patch was released right around the time their game broke.

Worse than Skyrim SE users. :classic_ph34r:

Fuck ton of cut content in this game that Larian probably won't patch back in. Wonder what modder will restore it? And there's at least half a dozen good characters I would like to "romance" and/or have as companions.

If/when it goes on sale, I'll buy it for sure. If I'm duly impressed, then I might try to do a few things mostly with models and textures if I can.

I can get it for you, if your interested.

Hotfix #5 dropped earlier.

no prob, anything else your looking for?

Not right now. I want to finish the game and then figure out what I might be able to do. Need to see what some others are planning as well.  Already some decent mods available.

Have to disagree. Great game, but Act 3 had so much content cut, including Upper City (Larian was talking about UC weeks before release, so this is not a case of 'development plan changed'). There were a lot of quests with trigger tied to Upper City too, including apparently Karlach's original 'good ending'. You were also suppose to fight Banites in UC too, instead of just Gortash, etc, etc.

I'd argue ToTK and AC6 were more complete.

Oh good. Hopefully they finally fixed Minthara.

Seems to be the meat of the hotfix.

I've not bothered as it will mean messing about updating mods.
