Dark Anchors Ruins and Dolmens

The link to this mod is broken. It has been broken for a few days now at least. Not sure if/when the mod author will make it public again.

@h8rt3rmin8r

1. Rephrased the link and the description. Done

2. Fixed the link. Done

3. Got no issue or error message with this one... (just reinstalled it)

4. There's nothing we can do except to wait for the new release. Hopefully i won't have to drop the mod later. Flagged it as unavailable atm.

Ryn's Mistwatch Folly is great. It really improves the area.

Night Mother Coffin vanished. No idea why it was removed.

RedBag's Falkreath looks very interesting and even includes the Half-Moon Mill. But it will need patchesPeople report CTD - so maybe later.

Markarth Fixed is a very good addition for the interior of the city.

Faster HDT-SMP - Ultra Perfomance Config does nothing (and i have an average CPU).

1- I was testing the new update and found a problem with the texture of the "Frost skimmer and golden Skimmer" the wings where the usual missing texture, to solve it I download the mod "Improved Dragonfly" - Improved Dragonfly at Skyrim Special Edition Nexus - Mods and Community (nexusmods.com) - no further testing, however reading the description of "Upgraded Dragonflies for CACO" seems that use textures of the "Improved Dragonfly".

2- Not also there a little problem with the CACO and survival the food does not restore hunger install "kryptopyr's Patch Hub" - kryptopyr's Patch Hub at Skyrim Special Edition Nexus - Mods and Community (nexusmods.com) - in order to solve it but just the ones for CACO minus the patch for Ordinator and CACO.

Hello, thank you so much for making this guide.

I just finished today and give it a try. Everything worked fine except for one thing OStim NG. Well, it works, the animations and sounds "seems" to work fine. The thing is I can't see anything lol the game turns "dark" when OStim launch, but the game doesn't crash I can keep playing when it's over but everything stays dark. It stays like this even if I load a save. Closing the game and restarting is the only way for things to get back to normal.

Well, that's it. If anyone has an idea I'm all ears. I tried a couple of things like uninstalling and reinstalling Ostim ng, and checked if I have the good version of Osa... No clue

Hello all, first time commenting. Thanks for the list and directions!

I'm having a lot of issues with combat though, originally I encountered a couple of slow attacks, but now combat suddenly seems to be entirely broken. Third person camera and trying to block doesn't work, and all enemy melee attacks are in slow motion. I installed the Ordinator - No Timed Block patch, but that doesn't seem to fix it.

I also tried uninstalling Valhalla Combat, which I'm confused why it's in here, and if it works for anyone at all. It has a hard requirement of TrueHud, which I don't see listed in the mod list. It wasn't working for me anyways, and I'm curious if it did for anyone else.

Either way, combat is broken for me, and I'm unsure how to fix it. I also have general questions about the load order of all the mods listed. I'm at a bit of a loss with conflicting guidance on whether or not to use LOOT to fix the load order, and WyreBash constantly gives me missing Missing Master errors.

If anyone can give me advice on any of these issues, that'd be greatly appreciated!

regarding the problem with the speed of attack, no idea how to fix it, I use a stat editor to fix mine when it appear.

As for loot DO NOT USE IT to order your plugins, you can use to see if a patch is missing or to see "SOME" conflict that mods may have.

As for WyreBash warning of missing master appear when you install mods that have more than one Plugin, and MO put the master at the end when it should be at the top, to fix it you can launch Wyrebash and when give you the warning of missing master, expand that window, it show u which   plugin have problems in their order, take a screen shot of them and later go to the plug in tab look for them and change the order the master MUST BE ON TOP, also when installing mods MO gives you a warning that more than one plugin has been installed in that moment go to check the plugins and make sure that the master is at the top.

as for the order of the plugins if there no instructions on the guide, it must follow the order of the installation, the only exceptions are the ones in "BOLD LETTER" those must be move to the top of the list, respecting they're order of installation.

Take care and feel better Aylis.  Knees and concrete don't mix well...  May your pains fade soon.

For others who may still be fighting LOD unloading issues, there is an updated version of DyndoLOD, resources, and scripts.  Hopefully they will clear things up.  I gave up and went seasonless as my solution, but perhaps the updates help.

(Optional) DynDOLOD TexGen Fixes

?Check the modpage if you need this

The finish line is in view - this is the home stretch. (Only took about a week to get here ?). I see this item (shown above) and don't know how to handle it. How do I know if I need "TexGen Fixes"? What is a TexGen? (Pretty sure this is addressed in the DynDOLOD part of the guide but I've not gotten that far yet).

Looking at the mod page (as instructed) I see what appears to be a modder sharing his quick fixes to a number of errors that he encountered during the LOD generation process (perhaps?). But I've never generated any LOD files before and have no way of knowing what errors I may or may not encounter.

A little more guidance here would be most useful.

UPDATE

Okay so the mod list is essentially complete. Now comes the preparations phase. Currently I'm sitting on:

  • 1,163 installed mods
  • 760 ESL plugins
  • 242 ESM+ESP plugins
  • 7,476 active animations
  • 50 ESL capable plugins
  • 16 requiring SSEEdit cleaning
  • 4 old header form versions
  • 14 delinquent masters
  • 7 missing masters
  • 8 deleted navmeshes
  • 4 deleted base records

Each of the above items in RED have a high probability of causing CTD. I had hoped for better results after having invested an entire week on this but ... obviously I have much to learn. Below is some relevant information for interested parties.

NEMESIS

Nemesis compiled animations without any problems. I ran the bug checking function out of curiosity which resulted in 16 warnings (see them below).

* __mcgDwarvenDeviousCuirass.esp__
* __SexLab_DibellaCult.esp__
* __SexLab_DibellaCult_Sisters.esp__
* __ZedUnlimitedWeaponEnchant.esp__

=== Cleaning With SSEEdit Needed
The following plugins have deleted references or other issues that can and should be fixed with SSEEdit. Visit the Tome of xEdit for more information.
* __AHZBetterDGEntranceSE.esp:__  Contains dirty edits, needs cleaning.
* __AlftandFix.esp:__  2 deleted references

* __DetailedCarriages.esp:__  4 deleted references
* __DIS_Heavy_Legion.esp:__  Contains dirty edits, needs cleaning.
* __DT_Hjertesten Hall.esp:__  2 deleted references
* __Hidden Hideouts of Skyrim - Merged NavMeshed.esp:__  Contains dirty edits, needs cleaning.
* __Lux - The Great City of Falkreath patch.esp:__  8 deleted references

* __SexLab_DibellaCult.esp:__  67 deleted references
* __The Great Town of Ivarstead.esp:__  Contains dirty edits, needs cleaning.
* __Watchtowers of Skyrim.esp:__  Contains dirty edits, needs cleaning.

=== Deleted Navmeshes
The following plugins have deleted navmeshes. They will cause a CTD if another plugin references the deleted navmesh or a nearby navmesh. They can only be fixed manually, which should usually be done by the mod author. Failing that, the safest course of action is to uninstall the plugin.
* __ELAF POI.esl:__  3 deleted navmeshes
* __Eli_Breezehome.esp:__  2 deleted navmeshes
* __HLIORemi.esp:__  1 deleted navmesh
* __Lux - Eli Breezehome patch.esp:__  1 deleted navmesh
* __riverwoodhouse.esp:__  1 deleted navmesh

=== Deleted Base Records
The following plugins have deleted base records. If another plugin references the deleted record, the resulting behavior is undefined. It may CTD, fail to delete the record or do any number of other things. They can only be fixed manually, which should usually be done by the mod author. Failing that, the safest course of action is to uninstall the plugin.
* __Dplay_Block_SparksN.esp:__  1 deleted base record
* __NITHI NPCs - The Companions - Women.esp:__  1 deleted base record
* __OneWithNature.esp:__  1 deleted base record
* __Skyrim - Argonian Survival Balance.esp:__  1 deleted base record

=== HITMEs
The following plugins have HITMEs (__H__igher __I__ndex __T__han __M__asterlist __E__ntries), which most commonly occur when the Creation Kit or an advanced mode of SSEEdit were used to improperly remove a master. The behavior of these plugins is undefined and may lead to them not working correctly or causing CTDs. Such a plugin is usually beyond saving and mod authors should revert to a backup from before the HITMEs corrupted the plugin. The safest course of action for a user is to uninstall it.
* __AMatterOfTime.esp:__  8 HITMEs
* __MoonlightTalesMCM.esp:__  1 HITME
* __Oddities From Morrowind.esp:__  2 HITMEs

=== Probable Injected Collisions
The following injected records override each other, but have different Editor IDs (EDIDs). This probably means that two different injected records have collided, but have the same record signature. The resulting behavior depends on what the injecting plugins are trying to do with the record, but they will most likely not work as intended. Such conflicts can only be fixed manually, which should usually be done by the mod author. Failing that, the safest course of action is to uninstall the plugin
* 01CC0E0A injected into Update.esm, colliding versions:
  * CampfireHeatsourceOverrideWarm [b'STAT':01CC0E0A] from LegacyoftheDragonborn.esm
  * XMarkerDUPLICATE001 [b'STAT':01CC0E0A] from LKVM Main House.esp

I'm struggling to not get discouraged at this point - I'm left wondering if all this effort is really worth it. The NUMBER ONE challenge that I am facing across the board (over on Nexus, Redit, and even in this beginners guide) is everyone makes so many assumptions that I already know far more than I do about how this whole system works. I'm literally having to google acronyms in relation to Skyrim to decode half of what's said. And there's so much missing information in general. The FOMOD installer instructions in this guide are nice - but they don't state what question they are answering (only numbers, like 1.1, 1.2, etc). So when a mod is updated before this guide, I'm left guessing which field "none" is referring to (as an example). And that one single thing could easily account for some of these critical missing masters errors I'm seeing. But I lack the experience and patience at this point to back track and reverse engineer the thinking behind suggested FOMOD instructions for prior versions on hundreds of plugins.

Okay. I'm good. I think I'll go have some tea.

(Optional) Sisterhood of Dibella

It needs to be made clear that, in order to use this mod (and the several related mods), users must open Pandora's Box and install SexLab - as these require SexLab.esm, ZaZ animations, among other things. None of that is stated here. However, as stated in the "sex mods" section of the guide, SexLab is not supported. Therefore it is perhaps unintuitive to list Sisterhood of Dibella (and related mods) in the general mod list since they too should be unsupported.

If you want to use Legacy of the Dragonborn then this is the place for it.

I'd then also install Legacy of the Dragonborn - Improved Dig Sites.

Recommendation:

Remove this reference to LotD entirely or expand upon it to include all that is actually required. Currently, Legacy of the Dragonborn conflicts with the following items in your beginner's guide:

  • Enhanced Solitude SSE.esp
  • Immersive Sounds - Compendium.esp
  • Weapons Armor Clothing & Clutter Fixes.esp
  • TheChoiceIsYours.esp
  • Guards_Armor_Replacer.esp
  • Book Covers Skyrim - Lost Library.esp
  • Complete Alchemy & Cooking Overhaul.esp

Patches should be available for all of these items but users of the guide need to know when and where such patches should be applied. At the very least, a firm warning should be appended to the beautiful green text - something scary about blowing up your game or something like that.

A few other items that I came across:

I am using "Environs - The Ruined Tundra Farmhouse" and it does not require "The Forts of Skyrim-Rebuilt.esp"

Check your download and reinstall that mod, it looks like you are missing many mods, or you had many corrupted downloads.

Okay. I'm good. I think I'll go have some tea.

A good cuppa can be the best solution to many problems.  :)

I understand the frustration and it doesn't take much to get discouraged by the sheer mass of all these mods and dealing with how they all interact.  I started the same way about a year ago with Aylis' SE guide, and was about where you are now.  When I first started going through setting up back then, I was making my own assumptions and trying to second guess the directions... thinking I'll grab this patch, or click this option that wasn't recommended... I eventually ended up just yanking out most of the conflicting mods and problems (that I created by not knowing there was a rhyme and reason for the way Aylis had set things up).

In fighting with the mod list and the problems I injected into it (I'm good at making my own problems), I ended up with a condensed list that did work for what I wanted, and still looked good.  I learned that Aylis has a great eye for mods, cosmetics, and look/feel.  I also learned that the guide can be followed exactly, or used as a framework to point the way.  It is a long journey, but it is rewarding.

I started up with Skyrim again about a month and a half ago, and started (naturally) with this guide.  It has changed an absolute TON already within that time, particularly recently since Aylis has been adding more stuff for the full AE creation club stuff... This  guide is a living beast, and even as detailed and careful as Aylis is in presenting directions and instructions, other mod others are also updating and making changes... so things like updates and versions may take a bit to filter down here.  It's amazing the breadth of this guide, and the task at hand keeping it even remotely updated... it'd be more than a full-time job, let alone a labor-of-love done in free time outside of work.

So I'd say keep at it.  There is a LOT to learn, and you're already on that path.  There will be problems, and more problems... Vanilla Skyrim with only additional bug fixes is still a complicated and fickle mistress... Layering additional mods just makes the balancing even more complex.  Even with Aylis guide pointing the way, there are far more layers of depth to tune - even just considering only the mods and directions here.  You can truncate or substitute the list as it's presented, but always at your own risk.  The list here is at least confirmed working together and stable (for a given value of Skyrim stable).  But it still isn't perfect, and errors do creep in with all the updates (the CBBE patch for armor clutter fixes WAS in the list when I built, but apparently got lost in the shuffle as an example).

Be patient, pick away at it and ask when you hit problems you can't figure out.  You may not always get an answer if somebody hasn't had that problem before, but this is one of the more helpful groups, as I've seen anyway.

If it makes you feel any better, as I mentioned I started this new set-up about a month and a half ago, and I've not stopped picking and resetting, and changing... on my third LOD gen of the day today... but I keep twiddling with stuff and pulling out and substituting mods, trying to fix (and cause more) problems...  The struggle will make you stronger though, if you start down that path.  :)

But be sure to keep stocked on tea.

Nemeis: getting it to run without crashing is nice. For me it normally takes 5 or 6 goes before it finally decides to just do its job and complete. No error messages, just eh, will crash and exit this time.

I'm not entirely sure I trust Wyre Bash anymore. I still use it to ESLify individual new files (for bulk ESLifying I use Ruddy88 ESLify xedit script) and I still use it make a bashed patch, but I don't trust it for anything more. This is mostly because a) bashed patch will wipe one traders inventory totally for one mod I use (and extra I play with thats not in this mod list, so hopefully you won't see that) and b) bashed patch was just responsible for constant CTDs I was getting on my most recent playthough, because it broke a levelled list.

This item links to an outdated archived version of the intended mod (version 1.32). The updated version 1.33 is likely the option we should be downloading (correct me if I'm wrong).

Link should probably be updated to point to the new one, but looking at the change logs it shouldn't make a difference. It is just a helper so you can change the physics config in 3BA without having to go through the entire 3BA installer.

Remove this reference to LotD entirely or expand upon it to include all that is actually required. Currently, Legacy of the Dragonborn conflicts with the following items in your beginner's guide:

I'm on my first playthough with LotD and honestly I'd leave it in there. But I was going to mention to @Aylis that she probably wants to add an additional file for LotD: Legacy of the Dragonborn Patches (Official) which has patches for most (if not all) of the mods in this list. LotD is giving me an in-game reason for doing what I tend to do during a Skyrim playthrough anyway. Really quite like it.

Weapons Armor Clothing and Clutter Fixes

This requires a compatibility patch for CBBE

And the CBBE patch would also require the 3BA patch for the CBBE patch. Fortunately, the CBBE patch isn't required, since it patches the bodyslide files provided by CBBE for the vanilla armour. And pretty much all the vanilla armour has been replaced with all the armours in the Amour and Weapons section. No point in patching bodyslide files that get overwritten by other mods.

This non-optional mod is missing a required master that is not mentioned in the guide: The Forts of Skyrim-Rebuilt.esp

This one is probably user error, sorry. The Tundra Farmhouse fomod has a bunch of patches available that you can select, the first in the list is Forts of Skyrim. Either reinstall Tundra Farmhouse or use MO2 to deactivate the optional ESP "Environs - Tundra Farmhouse - Imperial Stone Forts Patch.esp".

I'll just add, You are where I was about 2 years ago when I started with the SE version of the beginners guide. Keep at it, modding Bethesda games is confusing until you learn how its done. And you learn that by adding mods and debugging it. Then you accidentally become a modder (well according to Nexus, I'm a modder now, with my one patch now having hit 1k unique downloads).

Still sick AF (and having to use too many skittles... er... pills at the same time).

@h8rt3rmin8r

You're checking way too much and it will only cause you a big nasty headache. ?

Nemesis errors

Simply ignore them. The mod is far from finished otherwise we wouldn't need FNIS too (which btw solves a few things Nemesis reports).

Wrye Bash

The ones that can be safely flagged as ESL (some could but can cause issues) are marked in the guide.

'Missing Masters' is an indication that you're missing a required mod. You have to read the requirements of the mods you install. There's no way to get around this.

'Delinquent Masters' Some mods have to be manually sorted (see entry at the end of the modlist).

'Old Header' is based on the same kind of belief some 'flat-earthers' have. Aka it has been disproven again and again and is utter nonsense.

The rest has to be done by the authors or yourself (nope, i won't do the work) as most of the permissions don't permit the upload of fixed files. Also some mods require those 'bugs' to work properly and will break otherwise.

Do i really have to write 'Page X Section Y' for every entry in a FOMOD?

LotD is a thing some people complained about when it was NOT mentioned in the guide. Now i get complaints when it is in the guide...

To be blunt i don't like that mod. It changes so many areas in the game i don't feel comfortable with it and, at the same time, it is just a huge 'pat-youself-on-the-shoulder' and can't be taken seriously. The entry is for the ones that absolutely want to have it, but they'll have to work on it on their own. I won't risk breaking something just for the option to have a mod like LotD in there.

done in free time

Hmmm, i heard rumors about this 'free time'. Is it something edible? Then i think i'll like it (should i ever find some time for it). ?

And now back to bed... Brain is in mechanical mode and standing is out of question.

Anybody else encountering the occasional NPC beard spazzing out completely since the Beards of Power addition? To be precise the beard artifacting all over the screen.

Seen on:
- Falk Firebeard (and probably a guard too in the blue palace)
- Orc Miner in Shors Stone

- Dengeir in Falkreath
