Looking for a image hosting site

Hello i'd like to start uploading some images in the forum but i don't know of a good hosting site to upload them

 

i'm asking because to reply a topic it only gives the option to insert image from URL

 

i'll close the topic after i found one

 

i hope i'm using the create new topic funtion well with my question :$

You can just convert every picture you've mad in either Jpeg or Png and drag it into the posting.. Tab? (dunno how one calls it, where we actually write the text xD)

If you want a 3rd-party host imgur is still fine; lots less bad than most of the other options.

While I agree with your suggestion to use imgur, I have to add that it's not the ideal solution either. Imgur has blacklisted LL, so without a browser extension or opening each image link in a new tab, you won't see any pics linked from imgur.

This approach is functional indeed. However it comes with three issues :

— The first is that it slows down LL and the Invision board storage. You might not care about it right now (it's reasonable), but LL has known major slow downs in the past.

— The second, is that the Invision staff realized it was slowing down their servers (there were a lot of fullres PNGs uploaded in those times), so they went for the simplest counter measure, which is disabling direct hotlinking, and displaying a lesser resolution image instead to save bandwidth. That's why a lot of blog images appear smaller than they were uploaded actually.

—  The third is that that makes your stuff dependent on the Invision partnership and/or LL's technical problems. The partnership is supposed to last, and LL has preserved most of its core stuff, but if any of those were to become faulty, you'd lose your images without realistic recovery possibility. 

 

Hence why third party image hosts have their uses.

I'll have to agree with Alessia W. here : it it's to post on LL, Imgur images won't be displayed for most users. This because LL is on Imgur's blocked sites list. There are workarounds for this issue, but if 95% of users won't see your images, and that 95% of those won't bother installing the workarounds, it kinda defeats the purpose isn't it ?

Jokes aside, your Argument is valid.. Would you happen to know which of those Hosters are viable as of now? I've checked really quick what Alter Native is using, seams to be flicker.. Need to see if they would allow something like my Story tho ?

That's one of the main Reasons I haven't thought about it as of yet. Since things I upload can be pretty "offensive" in the Eyes of some People, like explicit shown Rape or beastiality.. I will read into that Thema a bit further later. If I'm able to find a Site that won't delete me 2 Minutes later I'm more then happy to use one if it's lessen the stress on the Server

Since only the referrer is read, it is sufficient to simply press Enter in the browser's address line. No referrer -> no blocking.
Nothing needs to be installed.

It is if you have large images amounts to read. Believe me I've went through restoring broken images blog entries, and while you're indeed right (it's easy to manually extract the image url for one image), what is true for one becomes another beast when you're talking about 150-200 in a row. Considering not even all authors go through that trouble when needed, I don't see much readers determined enough to do so for entries of that size.  

 

It's much simpler to pick something that works right away, IMO.

Most of those mentioned on my tutorial are usable for those purposes. ImgBox is the most reliable for the free ones, albeit a bit slow. ImgBB, no problem so far. Pixxxels works, though tends to resize jpegs. FlickR is good, but becomes paid-service if you require more than a certain space.

 

On a side note, a lot of Imagehosts restrict adult content, and those who allow adult content naturally disallow underage content. However torture, rape and things like that are up to you in most case. So the big no no for adult allowing image hosts, most of the time is only underage images, for obvious reasons.

Fast enough ? Thank you, I will create an Account and setup everything before uploading the next Chapter and see how it goes ?

If it keeps some stress form the Site and my Pics are preserved if anything goes to shit (not that I don't have the finished ones safed but who knows) and reliable viewable I'm happy to use it

Same. I had no idea imgur had blocked LL, especially since I usually post image links using the method Andy mentioned by default anyway (referral urls are garbo), so I've used it here in the past.
