Guest Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 I am interested to learn, if any of the people of this board are already using Windows 11 for gaming. At the point, i am not sure if i want to switch. I could but there are still some unknowns for me. Does it make sense or are there problems with for example, modding. Anyway, i appreciate your sharing thoughts. Cheers.
mircislav Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 If I may say - nothing good can come up from the guy who dump his best buddy just to get all the glory and piles of dollars for him self. Just as experiment: on the same hardware (intel) install Windows and MacOS (up to 10.6, the rest is just support for iPhone...), install any game supported by the two OS and play it. You will see what a pity is GatesOS... not to mention any graphic application, even with the bare OS the difference is amazing. Hell, even the Office is better on MacOS.

Windows 7 runs the applications I use WAY better than 10 and 11 is worse. If it wasn't for Cyberpunk, I'd switch back to 7. Actually, I might just do exactly that on one of my machines.
Guest Posted December 13, 2021 Posted December 13, 2021 mm.. not a lot of love for WinDings. Anyway, i am starting to get started with Linux at the moment. Steam already is running. Now we have to see about the Games. MacOS is surely nice, but a Mac is expensive. Though i had a Mac at one point. Thinking about it, i am surprised that i bought the iMac back in the day. And not to forget the price. This was really expensive for what it had. But i played Myth on it which i really liked. Dunno about today's gaming and Mac. I never seen Windows as a pitty. This is a little judgemental. Back in the days when people judged you by your OS you were running. For the most part Windows works just fine. Now for gaming, i am not sure as i only have W10 running. (at the moment) And my question was how it is with W11. Not really which OS is better.
rb888 Posted December 20, 2021 Posted December 20, 2021 Using windows 11 pro no issues. On Skyrim se. They also fix the write issue with SSD too.
JDough400 Posted December 29, 2021 Posted December 29, 2021 I may try Windows 11, before my windows 10 purchase I was on W7, that would run anything I chucked at it, Windows 10 seems to dislike anything that's not 'new' things like the decade old Skyrim and GTR2 (even older) will crash at the drop of a hat, Scenario... there you are walkin/drivin down the road when you're all of a sudden looking at your desktop... "well I was playin somthin here but I sure ain't now" and most times not even a little box tellin ya "somthing went wrong" I've heard that Win 11 will be more stable for games so I've got my fingers crossed and watch for the horror stories about it's even more intuitive intrusiveness.
Guest Posted December 29, 2021 Posted December 29, 2021 I ordered a new PC a while back with Windows 11, will dual-boot with Linux. We'll see how it goes.
sshar22 Posted December 29, 2021 Posted December 29, 2021 Win 11 here, no problem with anything, Games, Applications (C++, PS, Maya, UE5, Blender, Houdini), Hardware (triple mon, + cintiq, HDD, SSD NVME, Optane). Been using PC's since ms dos/win 3.1 Mind that most problems usually stem from one specific side of the monitor ? Cheers

Michele Magus Posted December 29, 2021 Posted December 29, 2021 Win 11 Pro SSD Drives No problems with gaming other than the occasional conflicting mod, which is not Win related.
Clea Strange Posted February 25, 2022 Posted February 25, 2022 I use Windows 11 to play video games, I've never noticed a difference. Then again I don't pay attention, the only thing that matters to me is that I can play video games.
ramrod126 Posted February 25, 2022 Posted February 25, 2022 Nope. Don't like some of the tasklbar changes like the lack of a clock on all monitors.
NickNozownik Posted March 1, 2022 Posted March 1, 2022 No, I prefer operating systems that are more minimalist and let me do whatever I want. I might be wrong because I never used Windows 11, but I assume it's a bloated mess just like Windows 10. I would boot it up just to play Space Engineers or GTA IV for 2-3 hours and do everything else on Linux.
beefers Posted March 31, 2022 Posted March 31, 2022 I'm still using Windows 7 as I only play Sims 3 and Sims 4 on PC.
AKM Posted May 13, 2022 Posted May 13, 2022 Slightly OT, but I think still relevant, here's a video talking about some of the problems with Windows 11. Basically, it's that they are forcing you to only run windows on a new Windows 11 machine. No other OS will run on that machine, effectively making your computer, that you bought and paid for, theirs. Microsoft has been slowly tightening the screws of Big Brother on their stuff for years.
