OSA\Osex and SexLab\LoversLab installs

All I have installed by hand, using drag n drop, is a small collection of sound, .wav, files for high heel boots. I have a mod with only those files in it, no esp, no esm.

Yes, it is uninstalled. I have not removed it from the Vortex archive yet. Right now it exists only in the (staging folder?) E:\Vortex mods\downloads\skyrimse folder. I can't delete it from there, Vortex doesn't like that, remember? I have to do that Vortex running. 2 clicks and it's gone.

Yes, sorry, that's where my recently-acquired knowledge of Vortex kind of conks out. Jeez - the trouble this is giving you. Makes me feel embarrassed I can't just switch on your game and get you playing the damn thing.

There is still those 6 files still in the game folder. Remove by hand?

Yes, get rid of them but into a backup folder, not delete. Just in case!!

Sorry - watching thunderstorm videos on YouTube...

If you are removing SexlabUtil, then the mod that depends on it will need to be removed from your Vortex Load Order, too.  Which mod is it, out of curiosity?

Ummm... I don't know yet. I have to go thru the mod site pages and reread the requirements to find it. It's one of 'em, maybe more, I know that much. I usually don't put in mods like this unless there is a "need" for it.

In addition, I suspect Vortex doesn't use a virtual system at all. From what I've seen it puts the mods directly into the game folder (and sub folders). And is SUPPOSED to pull them out when uninstalled. I think it's failing that last goal.

Really?? Jeez. I thought it acted like MO2 and launched a 100% virtual folder. Wow.

I can show a pic of E:\Vortex mods\skyrimse. Don't think this is the downloads folder, that is E:\Vortex mods\downloads\skyrimse. It's REALLY easy to get those confused. The 1st one has other folders in it for... something, I don't know what.

E:\Vortex mods\skyrimse

I would expect that to be your Vortex Mods folder for the active mods. MO2 has much the same (see my pic, above), and a 'downloads' folder too.

Totally agree. Something may have gone wrong with the installation, or Vortex is not all it's cracked up to be (and I heard that from a lot of folks).

Don't get disheartened. Honestly: I have been there and done this. I've had SKSE stuff in game folders, mods missing their ESPs, and all sorts of trouble.  Sometimes I felt like giving the game up and walking away.

Then suddenly, it clicks and away you go.

You WILL be OK!

Well, just looked in E:\Vortex mods\skyrimse, more folders. You are correct, there are esp's, bsa's and.ini's in that folder. So, mods installed in 2 different folders at the same time? E:\Vortex mods and the game folder?

Yes, that would cause all sorts of problems.  I've suffered that in my earlier MO days and had weird results from it.  Maybe take a good look at what's going on - like how are those files ending up in the vanilla game folders?  The thing is, those game folder files are probably not registered in the Vortex "index" thingy so Vortex gets even more worked up.  Everything ought to be through, and controlled by, Vortex.

BTW, there are rare occasions when files do need to go in the game folders - a mod author will be quite clear about that.

Forge ahead, yes

Definitely!!

I have to hit the sack now. It's been a long day. I'll catch up tomorrow.  Happy modding.

Have you heard from "theNiceGuy"? FYI, I'm seeing SAE mods on LL, you mentioned that earlier, thought I'd throw it out there.
