BDNelson Posted November 27, 2021 Author Posted November 27, 2021 Haven't seen Sexlab Utility Mod before. I have the Patched Tools for SL, not the same one. I should stay away from LE ported to SE mods, yes?
BDNelson Posted November 27, 2021 Author Posted November 27, 2021 Not looking for an answer from you on the "WTF" question, just venting.
BDNelson Posted November 27, 2021 Author Posted November 27, 2021 Just pulled Ghaan's Revealing clothes. I REALLY wanted to those on Blaze :(.
BDNelson Posted November 27, 2021 Author Posted November 27, 2021 Hey, big guy, go back to your modding. Don't fret with my shit. We'll do that later, a lot of work to do 1st.
Bluegunk Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 (edited) Surely you can reinstall Ghaans? There's nothing wrong with that mod - it's in my load order! No Ghaans? Insanity! ? There is no problem with mods ported from LE to SE (so long as they are ported properly). I've ported a good number for myself. SE only changes the NIF files, and adds a few extra tables in the ESP layout. Scripts and DDS are the same. The only problems are the LE mods that rely on DLL files and SKSE. Skyrim LE is 32bit, Skyrim SE is 64bit. If a DLL-based mod is ported to SE then a new 64bit DLL has to be built. That's way beyond any skill level I have! With HDT mods from Skyrim LE, many are coded for the HDT DLL which of course is 32bit. On top of that a lot use the older HDT-PE which is now replaced by HDT-SMP. These mods can end up with fiddly issues like stretching clothes and crashes. I leave those to the experts. Properly ported mods are fine. Edited November 27, 2021 by Bluegunk
BDNelson Posted November 27, 2021 Author Posted November 27, 2021 (edited) Yeah, I can reinstall it. I just wanted to see it on this run, that's all. Right! But, how do would I know what a properly ported mod is, by installing it? I consider that dangerous modding, if you know what I mean. Edited November 27, 2021 by BDNelson added content
Bluegunk Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 3 minutes ago, BDNelson said: would I know what a properly ported mod is If you find the mod in Nexus for SE, (and the comments are not full of raging people), then you're good to go! Same with LL. I've rarely found a bad port. 99% are OK. Just watch you don't accidentally get sent off to a Skyrim LE mod by a link. LL is a bit haphazard in its layout compared to Nexus. I have accidentally downloaded LE mods from LL before.
BDNelson Posted November 27, 2021 Author Posted November 27, 2021 Cool, cool, gotcha. I've been trying to get only SE stuff and I try to read it all, but I miss a lot. I've discovered that about myself recently. (LOL)
Bluegunk Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 You're like me. Modding should be methodical. But I get distracted all the time with other mods. Also just now when our cat jumped on the keyboard.
BDNelson Posted November 27, 2021 Author Posted November 27, 2021 Do you have to shut down and restart your internet browser in order to see my new post's? I have to do that to see yours. And that was really funny!
BDNelson Posted November 27, 2021 Author Posted November 27, 2021 I hope your cat didn't send your computer into a tizzy fit by pushing the wrong keys! That's not good.
BDNelson Posted November 27, 2021 Author Posted November 27, 2021 Guess I didn't get as much sleep as I thought. Gonna lay down for a bit. Catch up in a while, ok?

BDNelson Posted November 27, 2021 Author Posted November 27, 2021 I'm up. Must be my ISP. It's doing this blinking thing too, strange. How's the install going?
Bluegunk Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 I'm pretty much done. I'm doing the tedious task of arranging my MO2 Left Pane (the install list) to match the LOOT-arranged ESPs. Looking at Vortex I think you don't need to to that. Lucky!
BDNelson Posted November 27, 2021 Author Posted November 27, 2021 (edited) You have to manually shift those around to match LOOT? Inside MO2? I mean while MO2 is running. Edited November 27, 2021 by BDNelson added content
BDNelson Posted November 27, 2021 Author Posted November 27, 2021 I think LOOT and Vortex are linked. API? I have no idea what that is. Whenever LOOT runs thru the Vortex Tools, Vortex does something with the archives. I can see it running behind the LOOT screen. That doesn't do that for NMM though. Vortex has an import link with NMM. I think that's for transfering mods From NMM to Vortex so that Vortex can manage the game that NMM is\was managing. This is a wild guess on my part, I don't have any proof of that.
Bluegunk Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 LOOT and Vortex are linked. Vortex seems to be built around the LOOT engine so far as I could see. And yes, I have to move my install list around in MO2 to match what LOOT does. So I think Vortex wins that one!
BDNelson Posted November 27, 2021 Author Posted November 27, 2021 I think you are correct, Sir! (lol). It does look like that is the case. How much of a pain in the ars is it to do that in MO2? But winning, I haven't visited MO2 recently to see what kind of improvements have been made since I saw it last. That was a while ago, been using NMM and Vortex for some years now. No success though until I got this machine. My FO3 install is the highest mod count effort I have achieved to date, I started modding it over 10years ago.
BDNelson Posted November 27, 2021 Author Posted November 27, 2021 FNV has been a complete disaster every time. I was born in Las Vegas, Nev. I took a special liking to that game as soon as they released it, I have like 4 or 5 different copies. Damnit!
BDNelson Posted November 27, 2021 Author Posted November 27, 2021 One plus for MO2. Wait time. This FNIS "updating animations" thing takes FOREVER! You have stripped and installed in less than half the time I have spent on stripping back alone. So, there is that. I take it that your finished install is just as stable (maybe even more so) as Vortex or NMM. I can't see how there would be much of a difference, well maybe the virtual folder. Mo2 still uses that, right?
Bluegunk Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 There's no reason to move from Vortex. I holidayed in Las Vegas a few years back! Stayed in the Excaliber hotel. Had a pretty good ten days or so there, too. Wasn't keen on the hotel food. But when we got to an Applebees then the good stuff came out. Did the usual stuff there, Grand Canyon, etc. LV is a bit of a weird place, though!
Bluegunk Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 2 minutes ago, BDNelson said: Mo2 still uses that, right Yes, it uses a virtual folder. Once I get there with this Left Pane organising it will be stable. (I hope...) I was a bit fed up to discover I lost my in-game journal in the game crash. Not sure where it went. I have a back up, but it will take half an hour in game to dump it all back into place.
BDNelson Posted November 27, 2021 Author Posted November 27, 2021 I'm not moving to MO2. Not what I meant. I was just comparing them for knowledge sake, try and store that info upstairs in the brain. Pretty full up there already. Did MO2 finally manage to get the BAE button to appear in the right-side panel, I think I remember an instruction to activate the archive extractor, but I could never find the button\switch to do it. Las Vegas, WEIRD, Naahhh really, LOLOL! Boy, don't I know that to be a hard truth FACT. Nice place to visit, a couple of times (NO more than that though or trouble WILL find you) but I wouldn't want to live there. I still have step-family there, idiots.
