legendary edition / SLE / LE / oldrim is the old 32bit skyrim.

special edition / SSE / SE is the newer 64bit version of skyrim (soon to be replaced by anniversary edition and it may mess things up for a bit)

Hello.

 

Right now you have two options.

1) the old 32 bits version, called Skyrim Legendary Edition. Not easy to get if you do not have it already.

2) The 64bits edition called Skyrim Special Edition. You can find it on Steam.

 

Buy it, download it, install it.

Run it at least once.

 

Then you need first of all the "script extender", it is called SKSE and you can find it here: skse.silverlock.org

 

Then grab a mod manager (highly recommended) and start by installing the mods with the mod manager. But install only one mod at time, and give priority to the framework mods like FNIS, SkyUI, etc.

Whichever version you decide on you will need to do a lot of reading. Given that at this point you have not given any evidence of conducting even a rudimentary search of the web for info, things do not look too good.

In other words, if you are looking for "a few clicks and I've got a game full of tits and dicks" then you are barking up the wrong tree.

HI and welcome! grab yourself a copy of special edition. 

all the info you need to get modding is on this site, just get in it and start googling your way through it.

You've already been pointed to lots of great resources by the previous posters.

 

May I also suggest going to Youtube and looking for installation tutorials by Gopher and Gamer Poets.  Things like how to install your game, how to install and use FNIS and xEdit and other addons.  Also general tutorials by either of those two on how to use whatever mod manager you choose (Vortex or Mod Organizer 2).

 

The time you take to learn to properly set up your game is well spent and will help avoid problems down the road.

hello and thanks for the thread. I played skyrim for many years but at some point I had ongoing game crashes and couldn't fix them anymore and then gave up. same fate with fallout 4.
I just felt like venturing back to skyrim and maybe we can start together and exchange ideas.
