Emily Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Is it true, a chubby bbw XXXLL person cost double to tripple flight Fare due their abnormal weight and size?
Rayblue Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Dunno because I've never flew by air for a very long time, but it depends on admission policies set by any of the carriers regarding overweight passengers, but for special cases such as those over 300lbs, yeah it's possible that additional charges could be imposed such as removing some seats for extra space, or medically they may not be permitted to travel by air due to their girth.
LordJerle Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 I've seen some pretty big people, especially when I lived in Oklahoma. There's even some people so big they have to take up two seats in the movie theater, so I don't doubt it.
D_ManXX2 Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 If they are taking this route then skinny people needs to pay half the price. Or else they are discriminating.
Someone92 Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Quite a long while ago I've read that a big US airline has introduced it and at first I thought they'll get sued without end because that seems to be the norm in the US however then I read that it's already common and that airline was one of the last ones that had introduced it. And why not? After all that fat person didn't paid for half of my seat and the one of the person on the other side they are occupying.
gregathit Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Airlines charge by seat so in practical terms if they can't fit in one seat then they should be charged for however many seats they take up. This makes perfect sense and is quite logical. How is this different than the limit on the size of carry-on luggage? Same darn thing.

Well people are not luggage, still I agree that companies must be practical also.
Kodiak Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Though I've never actually heard of this occurring, I'm sure there is grounds for an airlines to do this. As Greg said, they charge by seat. If a very wide person literally needs two seats, they could double charge, however it would be more trouble then its worth. The potential public backlash would go viral over social media in hours making the company look pretty bad. I could see an airline working with the customer by discounting the additional space since it is just one person just to save face. In my personal experience, I sat next to a couple once flying from San Diego to Newark who had their service dog (seeing eye dog) in the cabin with them. The flight was full and my seat was double booked.... with the dog. To allow the dog in the cabin, they had to charge them for that 3rd seat. This is really what I'm basing my assumption around. If they are going to charge a couple a seat charge for a dog, why wouldn't they do it for a double wide human who needs that second seat? The dog was cool though. Friendly, quite and damn well behaved. He did take off and landing at our feet, but the flight itself he spent stretched across the three of us with his head in my lap LOL. At least I go free drinks for the whole flight
gregathit Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 I used to be a frequent flyer in the past and I have been on flights with folks who could not fit in one seat. I even had the unfortunate luck to be sitting next to one such person on a full flight in which every seat was booked. Fortunately it was a short flight (45 minutes) but damn did it suck. I (being on the skinny side) was wedged into half of my seat as the chubby spilled over the arm rest and into half my seat. Once the seated light switched off I bee lined for the bathroom and didn't come out until the be seated light came back on. While I certainly don't hate chubby folks I was quite irked at this particular one and didn't feel the slightest bit of guilt over smirking at them attempting to extract themselves from the seat (rather unsuccessfully) at the end of the flight. I am sure they had to have someone aid them as they were wedged in awfully tight. Now personally, I don't have a huge amount of sympathy for those on the hefty side as I had a point in my life I ballooned out myself. However, I stopped the unhealthy activity and got myself back to being normally sized and have maintained it for going on 13 years now. For all but a select few who have medical conditions this is a matter of making a lifestyle change and sticking with it. The funniest example I can think about was a small jet I was on (30 or so seats) that only had a dozen folks on it. However, half of those dozen were WWF wrestlers. Those fuckers where ENORMOUS!!! The pilot spent about 30 minutes having them move around to attempt to balance out the plane. Needless to say they couldn't actually wear the seat belts even with the extensions (there weren't enough of them). That was around 14 years ago.
Kamen Rider Kuuga Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 So much for being a community of open minded adults.
gregathit Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 So much for being a community of open minded adults. So the pot calls the kettle.........or something like that? Open minded does not mean politically correct, nor does it mean being devoid of opinions, whether said opinions are popular or not. Open minded and being "fair" generally refers to trying to look at things from all angles and deciding on the best course of action. Not only is it "fair" to charge someone if they take up more than one seat (as the tickets are in fact sold by seat), it is also a matter of weight. Passengers and their cargo's weight are important calculations for planes, the larger the plane the less critical this is (unless the entire passenger list is chubby), but the principal is most certainly still there. An unbalanced plane can potentially be a real problem that can become life threatening in unstable weather conditions.
ChancellorKremlin Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 So much for being a community of open minded adults.Ha! That's rich... where was that "open mindedness" when we were discussing women's rights or transgenderism or feminism? You reap what you sow. How convenient, that "open mindedness" only applies to a subject that directly affects you. Welcome to prejudice-vile - sure is a shit hole, ain't it?
Something Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Well keep in mind "open-mindedness" doesn't mean "agree with everything you say." Angrybird did say it best. You take up two seats you pay for two seats. If you don't like it then lose the weight.
Captain Cobra Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 If I only take up half of the seat in first class can I get half off? So much for being a community of open minded adults. Eat it, fatty!
Someone92 Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 If I only take up half of the seat in first class can I get half off?Sure, if you're willing to share your seat with another skinny. :-P
Emily Posted June 2, 2013 Author Posted June 2, 2013 If I only take up half of the seat in first class can I get half off?Sure, if you're willing to share your seat with another skinny. :-PNo. Baby are charged adult fee like babes and dudes.
Monsto Brukes Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 The problem is that this is now being used as a cash cow (LOL) for some of the airlines. Me, I'm 6'1" and ~230 lbs. I call myself a fat guy, but I'm really just a bit overweight. last time I got on a plane I had to get a seatbelt extension. That's fucking gay as hell. 230? seatbelt extension? My son and his friends are all ex-college football players . . . they'd need extra seats. Talk about gay as hell fuck all that. So take up extra seats? Sure, pay for it. . . but look at who's judging the so called "size" of the person that's supposed to fit in a seat.
Emily Posted June 19, 2013 Author Posted June 19, 2013 Just for everyone knowledge, pet and dead person (inside coffin not urn) goes to cargo and pay logistic fee per weight. They doesn't count as passengers. No matter how dear they are. Still we could insist to count them as passenger and have flight attendant to take care of them. ... Emily arowana didn't make it... She was the largest fish emily ever had. We grew together. Transporting the fish and water tank cost a lot than more than chubby sitting on two passenger seat.
