LaEspada Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 So I bought Oblivion for the PC and I wanted to try and it, but I was wondering what are some great mods to get along with it. I'm looking for bodies replacers (male and female) I've been looking at the DMRA essential graphic overhauls combat overhauls fixes overhauls in general misc and other stuff you think is great to have. I'm no stranger to how to install or use mods so just throw out some suggestions. As for graphical overhauls, I"m pretty sure my PC can handle whatever.
CGi Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 i suggest SetBody Reloaded V1.20 (here on LL), using AutoSetBody. Then all npc's will have different bodies. Don't forget to use the SetBody Self spell to choose the body of your toon.Using manual SetBody, you need to install a body replacer first to get rid of vanilla bodies on npcs. There are lot's of big tittie replacers on the Nexus.if it comes down to regular sized boobies, HGEC classic or TGND (HGEC variant) do a pretty good job. For males use Roberts Male Body Replacer. That's it. Comes as OMOD and as archive with Bain support. Loads of options, so installing using OBMM or Bain is recommended. As for the graphics: Just look for Quarl's Texture Pack (QTP). There are better, but Quarl's is a all-in-one-go (not really all, but you know what i mean) solution (install before the Unofficial Oblivion Patch). Texture or Mesh replacer for armors, weapons and misc stuff has to be dl'ed and installed one after another. No complete package there, as far as i'm aware of. To rebuild the LoD, TES4LoDGen and Oscape is needed. There's other software to do that, but those 2 do the job as well and are way less complicated. Don't overdue it with graphical stuff. Oblivion is old and actually runs better on pure PS3.0 graphic cards.Optional and worth a try is OBGE. Not this easy to install. i recommend OBGE (V3.1.0.0 RC4) with Standalone Effects, Liquid Water, Parallax Occlusion Mapping, Physical Correct Sky, Detailed Terrain and Landscape LOD (fully utilizes Oscape's advanced features). if you're using HDR, install Lightshafts, as Godrays are for PS2.0. Forget about Depth of Field. Hard to setup. if you don't mind fiddling around with ENB, give it a try. But the author of ENB recommends OBGE instead of ENB, as it does the same and ENB for Oblivion never left it's earlie beta stage. Even tho there are some nice ENB configs, made by asian players. Combat overhauls are not recommended if you plan to use Lovers with PK and it's mods. High risk of conflicts. Else it's a matter of taste and as i don't use any, can't suggest any. For misc i recommend Kvatch rebuild. Essential in my Oblivion installation.if you own Morrowind with both expansions, Morroblivion is worth a try. Download the Unofficial Oblivion Patch (comes with a patch for QTP, so install it after QTP), Unofficial Shivering isles Patch and the Unofficial Mods Patch (install the 3rd as last so it can detect the mods it supports).Run BOSS and clean the reported files (includes official dlc's). You'll need Wrye Bash to build a Bashed Patch and OBMM to install mods that only come in OMOD format. DON'T install OMODs with NMM. OMODs mostly come with an install script that NMM ignores, not installing the mod correctly. So yes, you need OBMM for the OMODs and Wrye for regular archives. installing with Wrye makes a roll back easy so it's recommended, as uninstalling an mod with Wrye (if installed using Wrye) restores the files, the mod has replaced.
Guest ThatOne Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 -Skeleton: Growlf's Maximum Compatibility Skeleton or the one provided here (first link): http://www.loverslab.com/topic/11501-lovers-animations-workshop/?do=findComment&comment=255685 -Bodies: Setbody. Just pick whatever you want from there. -Textures: Quarl's Texture Pack v3 is my favorite, along with one of Brittany's mods (Lush & Gaudy). You can use Bomret's Texture Pack for SI, or use Detailed Terrain (my personal preference). QTP 3: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/18498/? Lush & Gaudy: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/40367//? OR http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/41118//? Bomret's Texture Pack for SI: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/28378//? Detailed Terrain: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/15245//? Improved Fruits, vegtables and meats makes them look less pixelated: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/10487//? -There's various small packs I like to use on top of these but they are too many to list. Just search the nexus. Fixes: UOP, if you want to use it: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/5296/ -Combat Overhauls: Deadly Reflex or Unnecessary Violence. DR: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/8273//? UV: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/40310//? -Graphic Enchanters: OBGE or an ENB of your choice. I prefer OBGEv3 Controller. OBGEv3 Controller: http://www.loverslab.com/topic/16692-performance-friendly-enb-the-oblivion-one/?do=findComment&comment=378793 ENBs can be found on the Nexus or on blogs. Pick whichever one you like (too many to list). If you use OBGEv3, you can use Liquid Water: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/37825//? If you do not use OBGEv3, you may wish to consider Brittany's water (or perhaps some other water overhaul). Just search on the nexus. Lava: Koldorn's Improved Lava 2 is what I personally use. http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/8786/? -Misc: New eat & drink animations: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/39487//? Better Cities or Open Cities (search the Nexus). Spell Delete and Item Remove: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/23069//? This may be very useful for you if you plan on doing the mainquest: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/21008/? MBP-based NPC replacer (you obviously need MBP to run this): http://www.loverslab.com/topic/1982-mbp-based-npc-replacer-081b-by-es74/ OR you can use Xeo if you prefer a more anime look for your NPCs: http://www.loverslab.com/topic/15185-xeo-sp/ I think this is enough for one day. Have fun, -TO -Edit- I seem to have forgotten Midas Magic.
Someone92 Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 bodies replacers DMRA is certainly the best option if you're into hyper-tits, there are a ton of stock replacer/armors for it HGEC if you're more into a "normal" build ZKEC if you're into wide hips and normal/big breasts combat overhauls Demolish System - Combat System Refinements - if you disable all the flashy stuff (e.g. aerial combos) you get a basic and solid combat overhaul LAME - magic overhaul that doesn't change too much fixes The unofficial patches (for Oblivion, Shivering Isles, DLC and Supplementals) Migck Miscellaneous fixes tweaks and additions (requires OBSE 21) - great fixes and improvements for Oblivion overhauls in general Maskars Oblivion Overhaul - overhaul that is designed to be as compatible to other mods as possible ROM Revised Oblivion Mod - the best overhaul from a gameplay perspective however rather restrictive in which mods you can use with it misc look at my signature, I've listed a few imo mandatory mods there
M.BISON Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 i used this youtube video easy simpple instructions but there will probably be some better, newer mods to some that he mentions like illumination within (this is for graphics overhaul)
FallenWarrior Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 This is the list, that I always go by http://www.loverslab.com/topic/807-optomizing-world-detail-and-graphic-in-oblivion-ver101-08102011pic-in-spoiler/
Sir Artsy Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 Bodies:HGEC / ZKEC (or DMRA if that floats your boat)Robert's MaleGeneral:Maskar's Oblivion OverhaulDeadly Reflex / UV MUST HAVE! http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/43612/? Makes NPC's look HELL OF A LOT better unless you already have these anime replacers like XEO (not for my taste, sorry xD) Graphics:Matso's ENB: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/43549/?Floriana GloriaBomret's High-res normalsSkyrimized Waters (adds light ripples)AliveWaters: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/6914//? Nightwynd Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 Don't forget FCOM, Artifacts and Armamentarium! There are even DMRA replacers for them.
LaEspada Posted May 29, 2013 Author Posted May 29, 2013 Thanks for all the great advice! Time to indulge myself!
LaEspada Posted May 30, 2013 Author Posted May 30, 2013 Just a quick question. Are all the body mods compatiblite with their other counterparts' body textures? Like a HGEC body texture for DMRA? or vice versa? Or is it like in Skyrim where only UNP textures for the UNP body.
gregathit Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Just a quick question. Are all the body mods compatiblite with their other counterparts' body textures? Like a HGEC body texture for DMRA? or vice versa? Or is it like in Skyrim where only UNP textures for the UNP body. Yes and No. Yes, most are compatible (HGEC and DMRA and Manga). HGEC is by far the most popular and its textures set the standard for all the others to follow. This compliance allows mods like setbody (set your nude body and NPC's nude bodies on the fly in game) to be used without any hoop jumping. No, UFF is one example that is not compatible. Fortunately this body fell out of favor as it used a custom skeleton as well as custom textures which made it a poor choice. For males Roberts male body is the standard.
iCandy Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Anyone got the mod that replaced all vanilla armors with Hgec+BBB reworked armors? And I would love better bows!
Someone92 Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 You mean this mod? http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/24078 http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/34324 Better looking bows or better bows from a gameplay perspective?
iCandy Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Yes, gameplay! And thanks for that armor mod, just what I was looking for!
Someone92 Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Duke Patrick's Combat mods are often praised, and he has done an archery mod as well: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/36836/? Otherwise search for Archery or Bow(s) on nexus, you'll find some mods changing how bows are handled and choose the one that you like best.
