Has Osex become a viable alternative to Sexlab?

Recommended Posts

I remember a long while back trying it out and while in terms of fluid animation and style I just found it so much better than Sexlab stuff that has/had kind of janky transitions and teleporting and weird alignment. But it had zero integration into the game beyond a UI that you forced random actors in, there was no conversation or initiation and no money shot. So I kind of shelved it.

I've not played Skyrim for a few weeks/months now, but looking at things it seems like all kinds of addons and new mods have been added in relation to Osex (Ostim and a bunch of other stuff)

Next time I do a full install, is it worth making the switch? Also is anyone aware of any kind of repository that lists everything that has been made for it so far? It seems like a lot of different addons were made for it, but tracking them all seems a little tricky.

It's cool and has some new stuff but not even close to replacing SL.

Best you can do is install it alongside SL and use for those times you want some interactive animations.

Anything beyond that -SL still reigns supreme.

I'd say that if you want just consensual vanilla sex with world integration where NPCs sleep with other NPCs, OStim (with it's addons) is the way to go.

If you are looking for more devious stuff though, I'd stick with SL for now.

What are the main conflicts if any when using SL and OSA/Osex/Ostim? I'm currently using FG and SL but was curious about OSA. I'm assuming most conflicts could be resolved on the users end?

I am not aware of any conflicts. Those are two totally different frameworks. I've used FG and OSA/Osex together before on SSE for AA playthrough. I've also used SL and OSA/Osex on Enderal for research purposes (and I do mean actual research, not "research"). They don't really overlap.

However, as with everything, YMMV.

OSA is a sex mod, and Sexlab a porn mod. I don't see a conflict there.

On the other hand, I'm not aware of a framework besides "whicked whims" for the Sims4 - meaning, can there be 2?

We will see.

If you don't know OSA, take a look into it. New Skyrim-players will sooner or later need to learn everything (well, besides animations for boobs.. that's dead for quite some time :))

OSA now has roughly the equivalent of Eager NPCs; though you need like...three different downloads alone.

The Yamete beta now supports OSA, but it's hard limited to one scene.... Which makes me think there will never truly be a Defeat, or PAHE, style mod for it short of more work on the framework itself.  (Besides the lack of Devious Devices)

I bet there will be one. :P

For now i'm sticking with SL because it's also tied to various other sex mods i have installed. From what i've seen, Osex mods are really vanilla in nature and you know i need more than that weak stuff.

I see you need some hardcore chaurus fucking to get in the mood, huh?  ?

I'm certainly not going to hold my breath on a github that says "Very early version will break your game 100%"; not quite in to suffocation porn, you know.  ? But we'll see what sorcery they use to get it to work.

Lack of DD equivalent for OSA is the big show stopper for me personally. DD is where the real fun begins.

I agree that it doesn't make an impression of a mod that is almost done. The developers are actively discussing it on OStim discord though so my believe of it being finished in a foreseable future comes from that. :)

Definitely not. It's missing about 80% of addon mods that sexlab has. Despite the advertising as being the next best thing in sex mods, the weird icon interface is really confusing mess, the mod author can't even be bothered to write basic documentation on how it works (and he blocks / bans anyone who asks on nexus or discord), and it doesn't even deliver on it's core promise of not having major alignment issues, etc. I installed it (it's possible to install alongside sexlab, seems to work OK) and I wasn't impressed; limited, confusing, and buggy.

IMO it's one of those mods where the author spend more money on advertising his patreon and making pretty screenshots and icons than actually making it work properly. We'll see if that changes over time though.

Are you talking about OSex or OStim?

OStim.

Interesting. I asked mainly because my experience is almost the opposite so far, but I also cannot agree with some of the points you make.

For example I would say it's perfectly viable alternative, it just depends on what your expectation from a sex mod is. As I stated a few posts above, if a player is looking for consensual vanilla sex, I'd even recommend it over Sexlab.

I also find it strange that you mention lack of documentation when there are many articles dedicated to modders on how to use the API linked on OStim Nexus page including original documentation of OSA/OSex.

And from what I've seen, Sairion is more than willing to answer any questions or even help with the code when it comes to it. It's fair to say though, this is just my impression from OStim discord.

I definitely think it is a viable alternative to SexLab. There are add-ons constantly being created and I'm willing to bet DD will be ported over or remade specifically for OStim at some point.  There is already an aroused add-on that is still being developed and a lot of other stuff.  I sound like a spokesperson for the mods I know, but I personally think it's going to be better than SexLab in the near future.

Its not Yamete that limits OStim to only one scene, its OStim itself that does that

Yamete would easily support multiple Scenes but it cant, because OStim is hardcoded to only support 1. - and you have no idea how much it complicates things, Id gladly just ignore this limitation if I could kek

I thought multi scene support was added just recently, but I might be wrong, I haven't paid much attention to what is going on lately.
