Sounds like your missing the patches (i.e. FG conversion).  AE wouldn't be the reason why this is a problem, very little has changed between OG, NG, & AE related to core game assets.

I don't have KFT installed (they don't seem to build correctly for FG), so that rules it out for me.

KFT is designed for FG.  DD is CBBE and you need a FG patch.  If you don't have the FG patch for DD then some items will not shape to the body correctly.

@JB. Might want to find a new Clothing Mod for the Garden Spa Party with Larsen, as Nezzar's collection is horrifically broken on AE + FusionGirl it seems, and wasn't well done back then either (conflicts with some new VTAW stuff and the engine handling is odd).

Clothing (and textures, meshes in general) is not affected by Fallout versions. Even basic scripts. Only F4SE-based scripts are version-dependent.

OK, I was able to replicate the bug. It's kind of weird; I haven't touched those scripts in years.

I have a maintenance update ready for today, so I'll have that fixed too.

Everything went wrong BEFORE they died. The crash was just as they were coming out, then afterwards, the moment I loaded the save in the cage, we had issues.

Norita lost her voice from this entire ordeal: hasn't spoken once since this event. All voicelines are muted :D

Do you disable or modify anything about the voice in this quest?

Holy water will not help! :D

That CTD is a vanilla issue also, so my suggestions during this battle are:

Do save (preferably hard save, not auto or quick) somewhere AFTER you're put in the cage initially but BEFORE they notice the "vibrations" of the gatorclaws coming in.  I add a quick or autosave just before we fight or immediately after leaving the cage BUT I always keep the hard save just in case.  So, so rarely but more than twice in my (not kidding when I say this) 200+ Noritas I've played with, if you die and it reloads your save, that stage after the load screen but BEFORE it takes you to the game screen, time in the game passes and you MAY end up staying in the cage for too long as it loads, and it'll assume you chose not to fight and will put you there locked up til the fight is over

Do NOT set any mines or use explosives in that room unless you're willing to quicksave a LOT and still risk the CTD.  Especially do not use them near that pipe where the 2 gators exit together.  Even in vanilla, using mines over there is an easy way to CTD.  Do not use missile launchers or anything flashy either on those two at least until they enter the main room.  If they both manage to die at the same moment, CTD.  Again this is a vanilla issue I've found happen from time to time too so vanilla tricks CAN help with this fight, if you happen to use any for areas like this

If you want the LEAST risk of crashes, the best (and safest with good vantage point) spot to go as they spawn is that set of steps behind the cage you were locked in, sorta near the spot they spawn.  You can get decent shots at all 3 gators and have the ability to run around the cage to escape in case any get close.  This also has the least likely rate of crashing both in NR and vanilla game in this room

When voices for the player go out, just exit the game (all the way to desktop) and reload and it should return.  I periodically have this happen, regardless of what mod I'm playing.  No clue what causes it but I know that's so annoying when it does happen, especially during pivotal scenes

I still think you should try some holy water though 😜

That's good to know, don't remember really having that problem on vanilla.  For me the CTD will happen if I am near the battle and hiding, which it's kind of hard to avoid in that room.  There is a spot that is usually safe, but sometimes it's just rolling the dice, restarting and sometimes it's fine.

I've found that it happens more in 1st person than 3rd person at least for me, and if you are too close to them and they go to do that stomping thing they love so much, where the ground shakes, that's a big trigger for a crash.  More often than not I can get through this without a crash, but when I do crash it's always on a playthrough that has had zero crashes (truthfully this is probably the ONLY time I ever get a CTD other than one thing recently that I reported) and no other issues with any quests, bugs or anything.  I'm always super sus when my game is flawless and I get to this quest.  I just know

I have really bad luck in that area near the generator (the one that has the fusion core and I think a roll of tickets?) especially if they do get too close.  The room up the steps with some file cabinets and the chest and all that, that one is pretty good for playing keepaway while your AP refills, because you can run around the cabinets, but if they stomp one too many times you're gonna see desktop XD  I use it in the vanilla quest for this as my getaway spot but that one you can flip a coin to know if it's crashing XD

I get a tiny thrill any time I can complete this quest in full without dying OR crashing.  Sometimes a good restart of my PC will fix it, other times I'm playing "which trick will work on this playthrough" and seeing if just looking down, maybe avoid VATS, or shoot out their legs so they just can't stop will be today's trick

Which spots do you prefer to go to during this quest when you choose to help them kill the gatorclaws?

HeadPart Enhanced works, requires Addictol 1.3 or later.  Especially if you want the vanilla tints on the NPC (only affects base game, DLC, & CC.  NPCs in mods always load tints) to work after facegen is disabled.

Addictol 1.6 has a fix to further separate the tints patch from the facegen patch, so they can be enabled/disabled independently of each other.  Although I have never had a problem with the facegen patch in Addictol.

Ok, i updated HeadPart Extended to AE, just need someone to test it (since i don't have AE installed) before publishing.
dave42 you play AE right ? can you give it a test (change hp, if no crash, it's good).

Thank youuuuuuuuuuuu for this tip.  I never thought to, you know, just go back inside the bloody cage where it's safe but I know what I'm trying for my next playthrough!!!🖤

I was able to reproduce the cage bug thanks to you mentioning that you saved there. In my case, I saved before entering the cage and immediately went to talk to the gunner.  it's a very interesting and strange bug that I attribute to Fallout's dialogue system. Sometimes, when you save in the middle of a dialogue and then reload the save, the dialogue starts from the beginning, not where you left off and that caused a mini disaster.

RE: Adding Outfit override

I notice the way you check for Nezzar's collection/Maid Outfit/etc is actually an EXCELLENT target for this oufit override thing.

If you bring up this window all the time, even if the player has the mods you need for the outfits, to allow them to skip the stage manually (and thus choose their own outfit), may be easier than keeping track of a global var. Though Larsen does check a few times for the correct Maid outfit in his quests.

VTAW WD9 has the Shadow Thong and Bra, which could be excellent swimsuit replacers

Yes, it adds there in MISC tab in items, but the average user, and most of your quests before this, made the laundry an armour item. This is suddenly a misc item. Breaks user experience by requiring different expectations here.

Maybe make these an armour set.

*world's biggest sigh of regret after using this trick just now* touché, Kells, this time you really knew your stuff XD

This is what I get for being stubborn and insisting that I jump into danger.  Kells says stay put, well I'm leaving this cage and proving him wrong!!!  *dies 500 times*  Don't tell Pixel Daddy, because he's gonna use this to prove a point about my leaping into danger without knowing what I'm getting into 🤣

The crashing is even more frequent in the cage.  Maybe that's why I was hiding in a corner, hmm.  The crash has to do with a detection dialogue (normal to combat), generally it's this topic info involved in the crash: 06047DF1.  I have also seen DF3, they are all part of the same topic.

I'll have to maybe try vanilla to see if it crashes as well, it's crazy.  I managed to capture a minidump when it occurred and indeed the TopicInfo returned is 06047DF1, and it has a linked list of other topic infos along with the response structure, and the parent topicinfo is fine, the next linked topicinfo is pointing at garbage (the memory behind it is actually mesh & texture data).  Depending on the garbage it goes down two different code paths but the outcome is the same it's just crashing at two different locations.  Not sure why the linked list is pointing at an invalid memory.

The only one who use topics in that part is Cito. So if you want, you can click on him and disable him during the fight. I tried adding a package to him so he wouldn't say anything, but he still makes some pain sounds and monkey sounds.

Why are people playing from the steam directory? All Beth games can be duplicated in another folder and played from there. At that point whatever Steam does no longer concerns you.

I'm not I never use Steam I despise them with every piece of my being but others do

Wonder if that is part of the conflict?  I noticed he doesn't speak the dialogue "Monster!" or the other ones in that topic.  @savantladylilith says this crash happens in vanilla, but i don't remember it happening.  But it's certainly somewhat random, probably happens to depend on whether it points at memory that leads to something outside of the process space.

I'm wondering if maybe just dropping the conditions on the INFO records will do the job, feels like classic Bethesda provide an option in the game but don't actually check for it everywhere.

I just go up the stairs and hide until the Gatorclaws appear once they appeared I could head back down and take potshots at them when the fight heads my way so it may have certainly been when Cito says something but I get out of hearing range

It makes an annoying amount of sense to me XD I mean, most of the playthroughs I've ever done in NW while playing vanilla game, I've taken Cito with me when he offers and when I can also convince him to bring his family if I have the charisma so the one comes with us.  Now I'm tempted to try a few times with and without him present.  But.  Ugh.  Vanilla Fallout vs NR Fallout...so little motivation for this 😆
