Wrong way around I'm afraid, if at all, it should be possible to enable it. Under no circumstances should that be be default. I admit I also don't see how it is immersive in any way, unless you start a new game with a new char if it went badly. So to be truly "immersive", ND would have to delete all save games after killing the char. I'm looking forward to those complains. Point is moot for a while though as Nymra is still on vacation (as you will know if you followed this thread) and has much bigger fish to fry getting the worst bugs out of ND. Wouldn't be wise to attempt to add even more features while the core mod is in a barely working state.

Stuff that will see fixing is all the death based and accident based stuff that can send you to the afterlife. Basically managing afterlife and "Out of Combat" Damage received / Bleedout events (like from traps, falling etc.) 1

Nothing this mod does can CTD your game. what CAN CTD your game are faulty/incompatible meshes and in some cases maybe even textures (at least had that once in a rare case). So its most likely a mesh that gets equipped that is not for SSE or another mod interferes and fucks everything up. To further investitate I need the papyrus.0.log file of a game sesseion where the CTD happens

Edit: Hopefully harmless, because when I started SSEEdit a second time, I didn't got these errors. I also turned the escape difficulty way down for options on moving on.. But at a certain point you just wanna play the game too. you can keep DD framework in your LO next to Naked Defeat with no issues. Only naked defeat will use the DDs then and you can just set the "wiggle free" chance in the Naked Defeat MCM to 100% to always get rid of all items after some nice wiggling

Hm, I remember. I also think some mods replace those zap basic items, since for me, even when visible, its just a little dripping. Anyways I think I put an option for that in the nade_config, but could be wrong. In my list its fixed, but I ll double check.

Specifically what's happening is whenever I'm defeated via my health hitting zero I go into bleedout, enemies are calmed towards me but are still aggro if there are nearby allies/neutrals, nothing happens for a minute no matter what I press, I ragdoll/"die" for a minute with nothing happening, then without fail always going to the Afterlife scenario in Sky Haven. The mod mostly works when I surrender, things run as usual, correctly marks what I was defeated by, and plays a scenario or whatever scene it chooses while correctly choosing an aftermath (I always have rescue options set to 80%+ and it usual fires those). Health Defeat also does not care about the settings regarding the defeat timers and my character getting back up after the timer resolves. Indoor and Outdoor search radii are both set to 5k. I've also noticed some problems with two of the settings in the mod's MCM. For example, the mod does not care what death/execution chance is set to (I have it set to zero but I always go to Afterlife after combat defeat) and I am always robbed regardless of chance (gold toggle works however?) I do not play with slavery mods nor do I use any features beyond the base scenarios and bleedout/surrender defeat, and Golden Shower and Whipping are set to 0% so I cannot attest to if any of those features are bugged. I should also mention that I always go into defeat regardless of the Defeat and Short Defeat chance settings, although Short Defeat, allow creatures/females/male and female follower assault, %chance for female-in-male position, and scene chances all seem to be respected if I surrender. My PapLog screams a LOT about XMPSE (the install for XP32 is entirely fine and works for every other mod, I have the full version minus the XMPSE weapon styles module), a mentions quite a bit of stack dumping. I use Pandora 3.2.0 with a custom output file/mod if that matters at all. Perhaps the mod isn't recognizing health buffs (potions, Know Your Enemy, Artificer buffs) or something else entirely is blocking the process (just spitballing, I barely know the first thing about making mods)? Papyrus.0.log 13.73 MB · 0 downloads hmm, it seems that the mod sometimes wrongly assumes that you entered bleedout outside of combat... I never had this happen in my game (so I cannot reproduce this issue), but at least I know where to look. Currently, when you enter bleedout outside of combat you go to the afterlife. Afterlife robs you automatically (since why should you keep your stuff in the afterlife) but I will add a toggle for that since I know ppl want to customize their immersion experience themselves ^^ Death/Execution chance itself is not the issue here. Basically the mod just fails to recognize that you are in combat and defeated in combat. Also, delete the XPMSE Script folder. its no longer required and produces the spam and stackdumps. and from all I know despite other voices: its not good for your game. Question: did you spam the action key during the combat at some point? I get some weird log readings there. Action Key has a debug function that makes you leave combat, so when you are in combat and press K and the stars align I think this could lead to the issue. (you try to surrender I guess?) so I will check that possibility of a bug too.

My bad, didn't think to mention that, but yeah, spammed the key a bunch, including attempting to open the debug, all during bleedout thinking it would do something, nothing was opening up or firing, with no messages in the on-screen upper left notification log. Heard on the XMPSE scripts thing, it was in there as apart of an "Essentials" Collection I was using to skip searching for stuff, still weeding out personally unnecessary mods in some of the pre-built LOs I grabbed. Genuinely interesting, didn't think about the mod/scripts thinking I was outside of combat. I do use BFCO, if that matters in the slightest, but nothing else combat scripts-wise. My issue wasn't Afterlife existing as opposed to taking issue with all of my defeats being bleedout > ragdoll > Afterlife, lol, but a toggle would be cool for those who care. Edit: Technically I lied, combat wise I do have Valhalla, Vanguard, SCAR, Distance Based Combat and a few levelled list mods, but I've used those before and never gotten the "out-of-combat" bug before with them. Guest Posted August 26, 2025 Posted August 26, 2025 I have a few logs to share. This one focuses on camera and furniture issues. I was not sent to the afterlife. *as I progressed in my game, this became better or disappeared. Defeat is working but the camera settings seem to be different so I am testing it more. It always locks now with my prior settings and free cam does not always clear it. This was bad when defeated in a dungeon as I could not see anything that was happening. Furniture in this log did not work. It bugged and I was not attached even though it kept trying to restore. My normal method of reattaching (reset collision mod for clothing and hair) did not work. I disabled the ragdoll as it was sending me through the floor but will try it again. It was disabled during this log. I have to use the Unstuck Player almost every time to get control of my character. Once I do have control, I cannot equip weapons. There is a delay where I am running away and then suddenly, my weapons equip without additional input. It remembers what I had tried to equip evidently. This has been consistent in all the defeats. Particularly difficult in a dungeon or congested areas. I get defeated again and again. So far 3 times in succession so not really a terrible thing but not having the ability to protect my self once I gain control of my character was new. I will test different camera settings. I don't recall it locking behind my PC on the 5.251 versions or before. I hope you had a fantastic vacation. Papyrus.0.log
Guest Posted August 26, 2025 Posted August 26, 2025 Defeat was much better this time. Of the 7 or 8 defeats so far, when I am struck with the fatal blow, the camera goes below ground level. It fixes itself when the crawl is supposed to happen. Most of the time when furniture and whipping are involved, the player is not attached to the furniture. One prior event I was attached. Better. The main thing I have noticed is the settings seem to be reversed on the furniture fix. Aftermath tab I think. I set the Logfix on the main page. I always have. I do not normally set the whipping fix setting. You comment that you may need free camera. I never set that. So far in every defeat, the camera is stuck behind the player. Free cam normally works. I tested this time setting the fix and the camera performed normally. I can rotate the view while in a scene or on furniture. Something to look at maybe. General comments on aftermath/death. The first time it worked ok. So many spawns were there but a gargoyle was the only involved actor. Ok. The next time there were no actors at all. Just an FYI In the attached log, there is a consistent event that occurs during indoor defeats. 30% of the time anyway. 5 skeletons appear but are never involved. I do not select your spawns on the main page. They disappear when I wiggle free. Hope this helps. Crawl doesn't seem to work and I normally do not set ragdoll but I'm flat on my back after defeat. Once I gain control and move to find another spot, I enter the crouch (crawl) animation and can move to a spot. Papyrus.0.log

(I'm in my time and hurting which is why there is no log) Everything does seem to work but it is slower than the 4+ versions. Camera settings were mine to figure out. Furniture was still 50% reliable though. Still, not that bad as I know many things are happening. I set afterlife at 5%. I suppose the main issue for me is crawl after defeat does not respect any timer I set. I have it set to unlimited yet the bad guys immediately attack me. I literally mean seconds after I get notice to crawl away, I stand up and get defeated immediately again. The crawling away section of ND seems to be skipped. The image is just to show what spawns consistently for me in the afterlife. I think I experienced 6 afterlife scenarios before downgrading. Only one did not spawn anything. The other instances spawns a full party of them. Only one type of creature participates in the assault though. Gargoyles won 4-1. If you notice, I'm floating well above the table during the first assault. I return to the table after that. Hope this helps. Edited August 26, 2025 by TFor2
