firepower02 Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Hi wishnot4, thanks for taking interest on the mermaid project, do you know how to weight paint, or bone weight, not sure of the correct term. We have a mermaid mesh by my friend, but it needs a little more tweeking.
wishnot4 Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Hi wishnot4, thanks for taking interest on the mermaid project, do you know how to weight paint, or bone weight, not sure of the correct term. We have a mermaid mesh by my friend, but it needs a little more tweeking. I know a little bit. The problem I've had with it is the skeleton I've been working from is bipedal, so it makes it look like they are wearing a very tight skirt instead of a tail. But if you want, I can give it a look see. I'm planning on learning how to make skeletons(then I'll have to learn how to make the animations).
CabbageBooty Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 omg omg omg this is so cool! I'v always loved mermaid! Started working on the animations again. Â maybe so the butt/back moves a little too, looks a little stiff there
weedweedsocks333 Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 Oh and just a suggestion. Â You should probably make sure the tail doesnt get too short, so that it looks like a gummy fish. Long tails are good. But not too long though, know what im saying?
Mastor Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Wishnot4, someone already made Nagas: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/56219/?
mangalo Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 The concept and the previews look fantastic, I can already imagine a quest where you are force-transformed and have to find a way to get your legs back. Or even a mod like PSQ.  Keep on the good work guys !  PS : Are you planning to use the models proposed in this post in the future ?
sora_akira24 Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 Is it final that wishnot4 will make the models and animations?
wishnot4 Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Hey all, I'm still looking into making the mermaids but I have several projects going at once, one is a massive quest mod. And I'm still trying to learn how to work with skeletons and behaviors. So, if I do manage to make it, it'll be a ways down the road.
firepower02 Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Yes, wishnot will give mermaids their own skeleton, which will help give them more flexible tail, not look like it has knees, and make the tail fit any body type. We are going to have a new friendly animator to do the animations.
kyubi3002 Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Well, here it is, the naga mod. It's total crap, well ok, it's not total crap. The mesh looks pretty good, the texture's not bad, but since I have no idea how to work on animations, or to edit skeletons, it has glaring errors. And I think I probably should have come up with my own head instead of using one of the in game race's. Maybe one of you want to work on it. I only did it because I've gotten pretty good and making the body armor meshes. I guess I should start working on learning how to edit skeletons, then maybe animations. That's something for a later date. Anyway, here is the naga, I hope you enjoy. I've included all three of these files, because I'm an idiot and don't know if my mod will work without them or not. So, have fun.  for the love of god someone PLEASE animate that tail correctly this is like the perfect body
wishnot4 Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 I'm glad you liked my naga. I think it still needs a lot of work, but I was only doing it as a favor for someone else. The mod I'm currently working on is the centaur mod. I'm so close to getting that to work in game. I actually had the horse body and human body doing some animations(no I didn't make the animations, all in game animations). But the mesh goes a bit wonky as it moves and when the player tries to ride it, it does some really strange things. So, still have work to do.
mantaman Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 oi, well, i guess my email is still following this topic  im glad that it isnt dead, and if and when it comes out, i might just have a reason to play skyrim again, :U
weedweedsocks333 Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Â Ah shiet i love it But is it going to be compatible with UNP?Â
firepower02 Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 When he told me compatible with any body type, I'm sure he means every body type, so yes Unp compatibility is a yes.
GuruSR Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Just a thought, the idea of the "separate" tail, is completely possible, though again, not 100% sure if the animations would work or not for swimming. Fighting underwater is possible if there are animations for underwater fighting present, not 100% sure how to do that, but, with my transformation mod, I can actually float around in the water and fight as long as the race is marked as a creature and not flagged as "can swim". Might be a way to get around that fighting issue.  GuruSR.
firepower02 Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 We have the mermaid and merman mesh done. We have suludi's swimming animation, and we have an idle pose on land. The land movements is still incomplete.

The land movements is still incomplete. Wait, if they have an idle pose on land, how do they travel back to water and vice-versa? Do they use the default crouch animation or a modded version of it?
firepower02 Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 We don't have yet movement animations on land, you know to replace the walking and running. so they will walk like humanoids, it looks weird. If we can have someone make that, then we're almost complete.
