Someone told me that I should download the student version 3ds max 2012. I haven't tried it yet, but maybe this version will work with skyrim. I have incorporated your underwater mage attack into my game if that's fine with you. It looks like a dual cast animation. I think it would also be nice to have a tail kick for the hand to hand combat.  These are the names of the files to replace for the mermaid hand to hand animations. Although they could just be repeated animation if they are very similar. I'm sorry if there's too many, and there could be more, but these are the ones that I tried replacing with your underwater mage attack to see which is which.  H2H_AttackLeft.hkx h2h_attackpowerforwardlefthand.hkx h2h_attackpowerforwardrighthand.hkx H2H_AttackRight.hkx h2h_attackrightpowerforward.hkx h2h_idle.hkx  The magic casting animation has a lot of different files. It will be a really long list. So what I did is make a new race, replace all their walk, run, and sneak animations with the mermaid swim animations, including the idles. I have made them a swim only race, so there wouldn't be floating mermaids, and attach a script to them to stop swimming so they would use the walk/run animations (which are techinically still swim animations) when in water. This way the mermaids would be able to attack underwater, also by removing the condition that prevents magic or attack when underwater. Â

Since I can't script, I have no idea how to bind the animation to a condition, I would just have used the body as an armour but I like what you did there. And no, I'm not officially quitting. Not unofficially either. It's just that RL gave me a bad kick where it really hurts, and I haven't been able to do anything. I'm sorry. It's a very simple script I made that makes them always stop swimming, since they can't attack while swimming. Don't worry about this part, I will take care of it if you want, and put all your animations into the mermaid race. It's more on the editing the animation paths than a script really. I have issues in RL as well, so welcome to the club, but I put my angst towards it into creating a mermaid race, instead of letting it hinder me, it makes me drive harder further. It's not just an esp file, it also has a new set of animation files. Since the mermaid animations are not yet complete, they will use most of the vanilla animations and it doesn't' look right in water. I don't know if you agree to this, but I made two types of mermaid races. I can't think of other ways how to make this work. One type is the mermaid who can attack underwater, but cannot be land. The other one is a mermaid who can be on land, but cannot attack underwater. Don't worry, they look exactly the same have have exactly the same attributes. They change into the mermaid who can attack underwater when there's a slaughterfish, and change back into the mermaid who can be on land after combat so they will be able to follow you. It all happens silently in the background, so you won't even know they switched races. How do you take videos in skyrim? Â The mage attack uses your animation, but the staff attack uses the vanilla.

Is it ok with you to make all of the underwater animations, such as attacks, idles, bleedout, and the turning? There's going to be a ton of animations, ie, when attacking, there is different animation for drawing/sheathing weapon/magic, different for striking/casting, different for just idle, different for casting/striking while moving. but you could probably recycle the animations if they are too similar. I will take care of finding the correct file names and putting them in game. Â

Â Ofcourse not, but as of the moment, there are no mermaid land animations, so they're exclusively in water for now. Otherwise they will be floating in air, and I'm sure you wouldn't want that. It greatly depends on Suludi if she's willing to make mermaid land animations as well. And believe be, there will be a lot of new animations needed including just for simple things like sitting, and other idles. The underwater animations are not even half complete yet. Maybe you should start helping her? Pretty please? The more people working on it, the sooner it will be done. I don't know how to animate, so I am just adding her animations to the new race and make sure the file names are correct, and that they don't freeze. It is also kind of hard.

Are you going to have different animations for male and female, or the same? What do you mean which skeleton I use? I think I'm using unp female body, and sos regular male body, if that's what you mean?

Easy enough to say it's a mermaid-learned spell of lesser levitation. Would vastly simplify things, and ensure that the hard work spent on the swimming is able to be used everywhere by those interested.  (And before I'm pounced on like last time I mentioned something of the sort, be aware this will not change the end result of things so much as be a simple and easy option to choose, via .esp or a MCM option)

How do I know what they are? I have not really downloaded any skeletons, so I think mine is the vanilla one. And winged mermaids sounds nice. Btw, since you have the list of all the animation file names. Maybe you can tell which ones need replacing. Ashkandii Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 im not gonna bother with reading all 31 pages of what everyone has posted so ima be the retard that gonna say something thats already been discussed but excuse my lazyness  if you base the mermaids like from pirates of the Caribbean, you see they lose they're legs after a time and struggle to walk but soon as they touch water there well her legs slowly transforms to her tail so, what i was thinking if you had the starter area at Sea and have it as a transformation like the succubus race where u activate wings off/on same with the tail but with kinda, restrictions but that may be hard to make having a restriction to land with the power on because obviously you'll have to cover each and every swimmable area then have a quest where you get to a certain location on land then you start to stumble a bit fall over there and here then finally learn to walk obviously this is like a whole new thing and alot more then you anticipated but it would be a nice addon and a good coverage to be lazy and say meh, water only mode. but also putting in enough work with a short storyline to not even bother if its water only mod. but yeah my opinion.Â

Just when we figured out how to - restrict the swim animations only to mermaids so not everyone swims like a mermaid - enable underwater combat for mermaids - and make them transform tails in water, and legs on land, either manually or automatically. the topic died. I think it's all set, the only thing missing are the rest of the underwater animations, the transformation from legs to tail and vice versa animation, male version, and optional armors and weaponry, which can be added later on. You don't have to make underwater animations if it's too difficult, you can make other stuff like mermaid armors, weapons, houses and a male mermaid, which we don't have yet. You can also make sea creatures to fill the water with, so it won't be just mermaids. Â

AMagicalCat Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 i definitly like this mod and this its a rlly great idea, and making both genders of mermaid(man) i think would be rlly intresting to see, also, making the transformation a spell you could possible make it so in the tailed form being above ground/in air too long suffocates you, like being underwater does for the normal races, and the normal for the human form, i think you can do really amazing things with this stuff, underwater in skyrim was always lacking, this will be great to see!
