skyrim se I may have installed too many mods, and my game refuses to load.

I recently got a new PC, but I couldn't bring any of my old files over. I tried to re-install a lot of them, but I may have gone a little too crazy and installed too many. Can anyone have a look through the list and tell me where I went wrong?

The total limit for plugins, including the Skyrim esm itself, is 255.

 

What mod manager are you using?  Do you have a missing master?

I'm using Vortex, and all my masters are active, for both the base game, and the mods.

This doesn't look much at all, but you need to check what the mod manager says. See the post before mine.

 

Also, did you clean the official esms?

The mod manager doesn't have any problems at all, from what I can see. I made sure that there wasn't any warnings or missing masters a few times. I''m not entirely sure what you mean by 'clean the esms', though.

This. Tbh, I don't think that this causing your problem, but this always should be your 1st step.

Are you getting a CTD from the beginning or when you load a saved game?

If from the beginning, then check all mods to make certain you have ALL the requirements for that mod.

Have you run LOOT?  Have you run FNIS?  Where is the papyrus log?  

Do the above steps 1st!  Once your game is starting and stable, then you can mess with other things.

 

If all of the above doesn't get you starting, then it is time to deactivate all mods and see if your game can start vanilla.  If it can, then you activate a few mods (no more than 5 or so) at a time until you start crashing again.  This is the policy you should follow from now on.  This way, you can easily find mods that cause problems.

 

Don't uninstall anything.  Just deactivate them in your mod manager.

I'm not getting any CTD because my game just refuses to load. I go green on steam for a few moments, then it goes back to blue. I could run it vanilla do problem, I don't use LOOT, and I've run FNIS a few times. I've also tried to deactivate the mods and start it, but it still refuses to run. I'm starting to think that I'll have to start fresh, which I am not looking forward to.

Run LOOT.  If you are missing a master file (which is probably the case since you can't start the game), LOOT can tell you that.

Yes the troubleshooting is about a particular mod, but it tells you how to get the logs we need to see to help.

Are you trying to run the game from Steam itself then?

 

Do any of your mods require SKSE, and do you have it installed if you do?  If you need SKSE for any of your mods, I'm not sure if you can start direct from Steam, or at least not without doing some extra configuring.  The readme files in SKSE ought to tell you how to set it up.

Are you missing a master for the mod?  Are you running the SE edition and not the LE edition (if there is one)?  Little things like that can halt things in their tracks.

pretty sure i'm just missing something, or fkup with setting ini or animations dunno, i had problem with infinite main menu loading, which is strange and i never had this before (on previous install) some of my mods was dated 2017, Also pretty strange bug was that every time i reload the save (new character) because some mods require reload after init... init were goes again, sometimes twice (!), and after completing initiliazations and saving the game, and reloading - init started again, also character were teleporting thru different locations, meshes and textures missing... guess i should just start from scratch ?

OP, which version of SKSE64 are you using? I read a post a couple weeks ago that stated "Sex Lab users must use v2.0.17"

 

When I've tried to install 2.0.19, the game refused to start as well. reverting to 2.0.17 resolved that issue each time (I tried multiple times to update SKSE64). Couldn't figure out why, posted questions, got no answers...until I saw that post, which, true or not, makes sense from my perspective. I can't sue 2.0.19, I have SL. 2.0.17 works.

Yea, I figured it was something like that.  I bet most of the "missing file?" messages are gone now from your pap log.  It just takes one mod to wreck the show.  Glad you found it!

Make sure you have run Loot and after running it, start a new game.  Just a quick look at your load order and I notice a fix that was above the mod it was "fixing".

actually papyrus log just got even bigger and those file missings still there (that was expected since i put some new mods that never used before with some strange dependencies)
whatever while scripts will go mad was expected... But what I didn't expect is to bugs with spells and missing heads will go away... because why they should? i just changed 1 mod that doesn't really affect any textures. Maybe it's because of my stupid "narrowing" method that I used, I manage mods with vortex (I know mo2 would be better in some cases, but vortex is just "easy") and to make sure that exactly sl dialogues was the problem I redeployed ALL mods. Maybe there was something broken, dunno. Also i'm using custom race first time and not really familiar how to cook it properly.

Actually I want to know if it's possible to find out which script from which mod is failing or working without googling the actual script names cos usually it gets me nowhere, And even if i know from which mod is script... what is my next step? learn programming language? and then what? for example: there is "sp_" (probably shadow spell package mod)

upd: found out that "sp" named scripts was from arcanum, and guy who uploaded mod didn't renamed bsa archives with scripts. now my log is way smoller.

I have v2, I made sure I got it from website when I reinstalled the game.
