Juicykbf Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 I wanted to test out my new computer and I just started downloading stuff. However, I got Skyrim Special Edition and I can't get anything to work on the game. The opening scene is glitched and I'm seated next to the driver. By the time we get to the gate the horse starts running and crashes into the carriage in front and then the game just stops. I don't know what to do. Can anyone help? My goal is to have one vanilla game and one NSFW game, but it's more difficult that I thought it would be. I don't even know where to start on fixing the problem. This is all very new to me.
Scholarly Badger Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 Although I have occasionally seen people claim that this is a problem with the base game and can be solved by enabling vsync, it seems script-heavy mods can also cause this problem. It might help to disable those mods until you can get out of Helgen, but an easier solution is to use something like Alternate Start to completely skip it. There are also a number of patches that claim to fix the problem, but I can't say I have any idea which one would work for you. By the by, if you're using Vortex, you can use the profiles system to quickly switch between vanilla and NSFW.
Juicykbf Posted December 1, 2020 Author Posted December 1, 2020 I did that too. But now the game won't start.

Juicykbf Posted December 1, 2020 Author Posted December 1, 2020 I finally got the game to work. So the vanilla game is working now. Now I'm trying to load more stuff.
anjenthedog Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 Glad to hear you got the base game running. A few words of warning... Make sure to go relatively slow with installs, opening the game and checking to make sure things are working in between small batches. Otherwise, if you were to install say, 20 or 30 mods and then open the game to watch it crash, you'd have 20 or 30 candidates for the problem source. And it only gets worse the more mods you install before checking the game...
