Guest Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 I've noticed that there are now advertisements in threads in between at least two posts per page in a thread. This wasn't in place before hand, does everyone experience this? Is it just me? I'm not mad at all (despite the name!), I'd just like to know.
Nonsense667 Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Yup yup, the "xxxELFxxx:sexcraft" titjob. Not really bothering me too much either. Don't get me wrong, not like I prefer it, and most sites I've seen that have it, have the in-line adds (Or whatever they are called) disabled for anyone who's a memeber, but hah, I don't give a fuck. XD It's just an add. Oh, and in before all the "I use adblock" comments.
Happysparkles Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Ahh I got them ads blocked, I love porn and all but just makes me look like a sicko when browsing loverslab in person. Not that I am not sicko but the people in public do not need to catch sight of that
RitualClarity Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 It's been there for a while. At least since the rework of the site. At least for me. It is really noticable without ad block
Lagoon0654 Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 I have disabled adblock for this site just to see the titty job flash ad's.
myuhinny Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I ad-blocked the advert that was showing up in between the posts I no longer see it. It showed up a few days ago it showed nothing but looked like a posters post no profile pic and advert underneath where profile pic. Saw no point of it being there so I nuked it.

"nuked it" Didn't that cause some issues with the rest of the post removing that entry on the web page? What was used? Not that Im going to use it here but there are a few sites that have some really bad advertisment in horrible locations and I just can't get rid of the box, or container.

I just right clicked it go down to ad block select block this ad which then brings a blocker thing with a slider move the slider till it disappears watch the rest of the page and when it finally hits the right spot and doesn't have anything else greyed out or selected click looks good. If you make a mistake you can use the undo last block to unblock it. I used it on 3dmgames on that pop the pops up in the right hand bottom corner it's no longer there. I'll use imdb.com as a test subject since I'm on it right now. I'm on a persons movie profile I right clicked the persons picture and selected block ad block box came up persons picture disappeared rest of page is still intact but not always is it like that sometime you have to use the slider till just that is blocked and by blocked meaning disappeared. The more I move the slider to the right the more stuff on the persons page disappears till everything is gone but you just want to move it till the thing you have selected to be blocked has disappeared. Then hit looks good.

polluxval Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I dont have any problem with them but if there is some company, i use Adblock plus.
myuhinny Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I have adblock plus as well but whatever this advert profile thing was it wasn't getting blocked whatever it was selling or pushing was blocked but not whole thing had to manually add that part.
FallenWarrior Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I have adblock plus as well but whatever this advert profile thing was it wasn't getting blocked whatever it was selling or pushing was blocked but not whole thing had to manually add that part. How did you do it manually?
Ashal Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Ad between posts has always been there, since day 1 of using this ad provider, which was 8 or 9 months ago. The one between posts was previously only visible to people not signed in, however due to rising server costs and upgrades, I've had to enable it for logged in users as well to try and make up difference. Though to go on a rant. Blocked ads give no revenue, they are not being "hidden" leaving the site with an impression, which is useless and actively harmful to the site in the case of click based ads. They are being removed in their entirety when you block them. Leaving the publisher with nothing. The publisher (aka me) gets less income, the provider gets less accurate statistics on a site, and that in turn leads to lower ad buys by the advertiser, further driving everybody involved to less revenue. Any experienced website owner, publisher, provider, or advertiser will tell you; Ad Blockers are killing the internet. A lot of people use ad blockers, and almost every single one of them tell themselves that "I'm just one person, what difference could I make to a site by blocking it's ads?" Those one person's add up very quickly, and they're adding up more every year. They aren't the small minority they used to be. Everybody wants and expects content for free on the internet and as long as that remains the culture of the internet, ads will continue to be its life blood. If ads become no longer viable, the content WILL dry up and start going away, or have to be put behind a pay wall. I don't begrudge people using them, nor would I ever advocate them. Though when it comes to the type of ads here on LoversLab however, I completely understand the desire to block them, the nature of the site leaves me little choice. If you really like and enjoy a sites content, I do strongly urge you to consider disabling your blocker for that site. It makes a difference, much more than you think.

And that's why I leave them on (exception on ad block). Just when someone who could take the ad's as offensive is near my pc, i block them, but temporally. Thre are many sites that have an auto pop up window when ad block is active, reminding you that they get revenue only by those ads. We must help with whenever we can.

While I've never used an adblocker before, the ads here left me tempted to try it out. But after reading your post, I think I'll just stay away from them all together. While ads can be annoying, and often times cumbersome on computers, it's like you said, a necessity to the survival of many websites. In my case I don't really run the risk of someone catching me on this site, so I don't feel the need to get an adblocker anyways. Thanks Ashal for opening my eyes!
srayesmanll Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Ashal: Thanks for answering a question I've had (and asked several times) about the specifics of the ads here. So the model here is display for pay rather than click through for pay. That's good to know. Ad blocker being disabled for LL in 3...2...1...
Ashal Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Ashal: Thanks for answering a question I've had (and asked several times) about the specifics of the ads here. So the model here is display for pay rather than click through for pay. That's good to know. Ad blocker being disabled for LL in 3...2...1... That's not entirely the case. Filler ads, can be either Click or Impression based, depending on the advertiser's choice, not mine. They also tend to be lower quality ads that just get blasted out to a large number of sites for cheap, they also tend to be much lower quality ads as a result. They don't pay much unless you're on a high paying ad provider like Google Adsense, so this isn't where LoversLab makes it's money. Where it does however, is ad buyouts. Which is where an advertiser pays a site a flat fee, removing all filler ads and showing only the ad that purchased the slot, in that case it's neither click nor impression based. The advertiser pay a flat fee, the amount they pay for that buyout however is almost completely determined by the impressions and clicks that particular ad slot gets, both while rotating filler ads or the buyout ad. How many times it gets viewed and how many times it gets clicked in a given day directly effects the price and likelihood of a buyout. Personally I prefer it this way over click or impression ads, especially when it comes to adult ads like on LoversLab. The header ad in particular though, which hasn't changed in around 6 months due to a continuing buyout, is practically solely responsible for keeping the site up as it is today. The filler ads for porn ads tend to be particularly awful, just take a look at some of the footer ads that show up on the site, which are currently filler based. Another benefit is the type of ads that tend to do buyouts tend to be of higher quality, you get a lot less "One simple trick to grow your dick by 6 inches!" type ads. TL;DR: The more people block ads, the lower the clicks and impressions both on a particular slot; resulting in a lower prices for a buyout and lower odds of an ad slot even being bought out. Here is a report on the proliferation of ad blockers I found pretty interesting while doing some research when writing my previous post others may find interesting as well: http://clarityray.com/Content/ClarityRay_AdBlockReport.pdf
RitualClarity Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I haven't used the ad block very much. At first when started posting on this web site I used it. I didn't realize the impact that it had on this site. I thought that so long as I am here they will still be counting the times I am here. I didn't know that it wouldn't .
Nonsense667 Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Oh, and in before all the "I use adblock" comments. Every singe post after Fucking called this shit. Hmmm. Maybe a single "Ad discussion thread" in the off topic/adult subsection, to create an elite non-adblock user place where one of the rules is "If you come here to say "I use ad block," then you will be banned." XD And honestly, I kinda like the ads, in a weird way. Whether it's the top one ('Cause I'm a blatant and unashamed ephebophile) or the bottom (Most likely stolen) 3d render work of monster images, being falsely advertised as movies. Those always give me just a little bit of extra inspiration for rp ideas. Hell, I even like the crappy "WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU JACKING OFF YOU FUCKING PATHETIC DUMBASS CLICK OUR LINK YOU LITTLE BITCH" ones along side the "LOW NUMBERS OF WOMEN MEN JOIN FREE" and the other awful adds, simply because they make me laugh.

They are pretty entertaining. I'm glad I wasn't the only one to noticed the top ads seemed a little... jailbaity, though like you said, more aking to ephebofilia than pedophilia. Sadly, as with all advertising, the end product rarely matches the advertising picture lol

Some of the "Ugly bitches need sex too" ads that show up on the bottom make me cringe. I've tried many times to find it and block it from ever showing in the filler rotation, but the providers ad blocking tool leaves much to be desired. While contributors and moderators have ads completely disabled for them, I have all ads show for myself as if I was a guest, so I can catch bad ones or make sure they're still displaying properly.
Lagoon0654 Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 As long as there are no annoying pop ups or pop unders, or heavy cpu using flash ad's, I don't care. lus this elf sexcraft one has me memorized. I used to own paid hosting so I know the costs of running, so I'l happy to help out if the ad's aren't too intrusive.

They are unfortunately big earners though, so their use is hard to turn down when normal ads aren't performing as much as you'd like. The site does display a popunder but ONLY for people not logged in, and even then it is further limited to only displaying for somebody once every 24 hours. I feel that's pretty light and unobtrusive for most people, while also currently providing 25% of the sites ad revenue. Which is a major share of it considering how lightly they are used here. If I ever start using inline ads on the other hand, the ones that put links over normal text all over the site. Than I beg of you people to start a coup, track me down, give me a good beating, and steal the site away from me.

Pop ups, I'll probably deal with as long as they're rare. as in not every other page click. The pop under ones are the ones I hate the most. But it's your money, not mine so... Do your ad's need to be clicked on to "count" or simply being displayed is enough?
