Sorry if It is not my business... but I'm curious, why is he/she banned?

I am not sure that she/he was banned.

I think they used that as the tittle?

like your "Supreme Commander General Grumpy Cat and also Writer" He/She probably used banned.

I've seen it before but saw him/her making a post a few days afterwards. So it was a sigh or relief.

I quite like Kashiwaba . tries to get things going by posting up controversial or uncomfortable subjects...nice one

Yep, that's why I'm asking. I know he/she went controversial sometimes, but never thought he would get banned. Maybe there is another reason for that? O_O

He's been constantly inciting fights and trolling. He's been warned for this many many many many times and keeps ignoring it. He was given a temporary 30 day ban as a result of his constant bickering and ignored warnings.

Oh, it's a temporary ban. That's why he kept his avatar. Well, well, the darkside of Tamoe. Anyway, thanks for the answer Ashal. Hope we can have him back with a respectfull attitude.

It's not his first temporary ban, he's been given a 15 day temp before as well. So I wouldn't hold my breath.

Question, how about a stickied thread in one of the subsections, I guess in announcements, general discussion, or off topic, for discussing banned members? That way people have a place to go to say "why was x banned?" Speaking of which, why did domgar/lady luck get banned a while back?

She didn't get banned, she left and I'm pretty sure she's back under another name.

About the subsection, would be interesting.

Because bans aren't that common here. If you aren't a spam bot, you have to really try and be banned. And I feel it would just cause arguments or a pitchfork mob mentality.

Lady Luck wasn't banned, they requested their account be deleted. Their reasons are their own.

No, Why in god's name would we want that? This isn't the Nexus......

Personally when a user is banned there is no point of going on about it when no one knows why they were banned in the first place apart from the site staff and the user which got banned.

Leave that stuff for the Nexus.

There are a lot of warning signs that a person is likely to get banned here. All you would have to do is search the politics sub section to see what led to the ban. If you go over to the politics section you'll see KT is the largest poster there, as was TheSapien before he was banned. The mods gave them an ample amount of warnings however they both took it too far. Of course, not every banned person here was banned because they posted excessive amounts of hateful content in off-topic.

A banned user's thread isn't necessarily bad. Yes, the nexus does something similar by posting a thread whenever they ban someone, but this would be a singular used so that people can get caught up on who was banned and whatnot. Sometimes we are not online when it happens and when we come back we are left confused. If not a thread, perhaps adding a short description to the banned user's profile stating if they were banned or left, and if banned, why they were banned. If the person left, the staff must acquire the consent of the user to post why he/she left.

I didn't even know the Nexus had that. :\ I was thinking back to when I was a regular visitor over at Hongfire. And hey, what can I say, I want to know. When an active member suddenly gets a (Banned) thing, I get curious. I don't know how the banned thread, or whatever they have at Nexus goes, but the thread over at hongfire was generally a good, calm place. People would ask why someone was banned, and boom, it would get answered. Maybe some discussion about whatever drama caused it.

In case anyone's interested in perving it for whatever reason.

For the record, I second Ashal - KT was banned because well... he failed to heed repeated warnings, the main example being starting drama about past grievances in totally unrelated threads (among other things) and Domgar/LL requested to have her account suspended. The former is a temporary ban which should only last 30 days, and the latter - unfortunately we do not know when she will return, though she may be browsing using an alternate account, though there is no way of knowing.

If you think of it, excluding bots, I can probably count the number of banned members in the last year in one hand, so such a thread would really be quite pointless, not to mention that when people (inevitably) bring up that so and so were banned, the staff do respond and don't let people stay in the dark about it.

It maybe wouldn't be a terrible idea to edit a banned members signature with a quick and simple explanation if it's something noteworthy. A thread is an awful idea though in my opinion, it just creates a central place where everybody can see the sites dirty laundry.

Ashal, I could not agree more.  Once the penalty has been met I think we all move on and let it go.  Poking stuff with a stick generally leads to trouble.

I like that idea, it's not messy and does have it's advantages if as you said something noteworthy. I can think of a few things which it would work for.

My point exactly....

Or hilarity. Ever poke a badger with a stick? OK... so, not funny if you're the one with the stick, but the badger seemed to enjoy himself.
