I've used both UNPB and CBBE for periods of time and as many have mentioned, it often comes down to armors/clothing.  If you have a very specific ideal shape, that's one thing, but I take a more lax approach.  Believability isn't my top priority and I find most of the bodies work for me.  Depends on what your taste is in such things and whether consistency is important to you (if the body shape is different in and out of armor).  I do like that CBBE is modifiable with bodyslide and that there is some amount of support for modifying the armors within it.  The most frustrating thing about varying body types and not having armors match is seams (neck, wrist, ankle), and body textures not lining up (mostly crotch and nipples).  I wish there had been some consistency across body types around these things so that you could mix and match if you so choose.  Sometimes you really like an armor or clothing but it hasn't been converted to the body type you use and it's frustrating.  I've spent more time than I care to count replacing individual vanilla armors with custom ones that I find as one-offs.  So for me, I start with trying to find a set of armors/clothing I can live with and then use the body type that goes with them.

UNP Petite Or Skinny & Litheria Body Sometimes Others I Do Prefer Small Breasted Bodies But Sometimes I Will Use

A Bigger Body But That Depends On The Outfits For That Body .......  So As For The Best I Cant Say ....

CBBE having Bodyslide does NOT make other body mods obselete. In fact I argue that having to use Bodyslide to get breast physics, or TBBP physics, is an annoying complication that needs a lot of troubleshooting. Having to use it with each new armor you get that's compatible (or if you're having to do it in bulk for a new reinstall...remembering which sliders to choose once you've gotten every armor you want and not hit the wrong ones) is another complication.

Worst yet...if you only want the body with enabled physics for say a few Custom races...and editing the config file text doesn't work. It's a pain in the butt.

Where mods like UNPB and ADEC and Sevenbase let you just drag and drop desired files where needed. Not everybody just wants one body type for the Vanilla races and that be it

You can save your own preset with bodyslide, so you don't need to remember what sliders you touched. You can just modify the sliders to your hearts content, save your custom preset and apply it to everything that's compatible with bodyslide. If you want your body just to work for your custom meshes, you can copy and paste the femalebody meshes from your default directory to the directory of your custom race. After that, you can replace the meshes inside the default directory with any female meshes you want.

That doesn't change the fact that I don't really like cbbe, though. No matter how much time I spend with bodyslide, the breasts and butt never really do it for me. And boy, how much time I already wasted trying to get a cbbe body that I liked.

Saying what I said...I do think CBBE Bodyslide and all the compatible armors is the BEST thing you can do for yourself for the vanilla races. Assuming you keep the body shape close to CBBE you give yourself the most options for armor mods for the main races. This is the established criteria in most people's minds for what makes CBBE Bodyslide the best I think.

So that's kind of what I'm saying. To get the desired meshes with bbp inside a custom races folder I have to do all that. OR I can drag/drop a UNPB BBP mesh, located right there on its Nexus download page into the folder and I'm done. CBBE BBP is complicated.

What if I had a different default body type on the vanilla races that I liked? By running Bodyslide and just trying to get a CBBE mesh to give to a different custom race it overwrites vanilla races as well. There is the config file yes...but it doesn't seem to change where the meshes are installed (I tried that). And if I'm getting to the point where I'm editing text in a config file to redirect the mesh uploads then I feel I'm at a point where it's too complicated anyway.

I don't see where the problem is. You run bodyslide, create the body for your custom race, copy the created meshes from the /character assets to your /customrace folder and when you did that, you just copy and paste the mesh you want for the vanilla race back into the /character assets folder. Now you have your very own body for your custom race and another one for the vanilla races. Seriously, all that is required to get what you want is 1 minute of your time spent copying and pasting a few meshes. It's a small price to pay for the amount of options you get through bodyslide, but if you can't be bothered with that, you're better off with the stock replacers, I guess.

I started out with CBBE and ended up with UNPB just due to personal taste I guess.  New clothing mods started coming out regularly.  I found an excellent seamless texture pack in Oriental Beauty hi rez skin textures with face files for all races.  I created a one click install file for NMM with these texture and mesh files, and I have been happy as a pig in manure ever since.

Although CBBE is a feature rich system, with Texblend and BodySlide, I think you can fairly combine the UNP variants, and see that UNP is slightly more popular in number of users, and maybe you could also include the growing user base of SevenBase which is another UNP variant of which I use a few outfits with a UNPB body and you can't see any flaws.

I have played several games using 2 or 3 different body types, without having to jump through hoops, using a few particular custom followers having their own body files, CBBE included.

The problem is where you left out tweaking with bodyslide in the first place to get even close to the body style I want. That's the extra added step. Nevermind the hoping that the outfits I like have been converted to bodyslide.

I can download a mesh that's completely built, is satisfactory to a high degree, and has a packed-up set of outfits (that fit and look good) I can obtain in 1 or 2 dls and start the game all in the matter of a few minutes. Or I can spend a saturday in the tweakery of bodyslide. Because just like dryuya, "it's never quite right".

Even so, it's a moot point. Arguing about it is like arguing over your favorite color.

Last time I checked, everyones boat was floatin. Just because someone likes doing it one way doesn't mean that it's best or right. There's a ton of options. Pick one.

Yeah...moving all those meshes around to get a CBBE body in custom races folder really doesn't take one minute. Okay...the actual file moving alone maybe yeah if you are proficient in the Skyrim file structure of body/race mods (really nobody gets good at it until they've done it a few times and probably f-ed up first). But in that case UNPB etc take about five seconds.

More accurately though, there's the downloading and QCing afterwards. Any mistakes or undesirable effects repeat the process that then becomes exhausting with Bodyslide.

But agreed, whatever people enjoy doing with their time...or simply enjoy in general is all good with me. I still actually agree that CBBE Bodyslide us great if all you intend to do is mess around with vanilla races.

Yeah, bodyslide is mostly for people who are not satisfied with the bodies currently available. Or like to tweak things more to their own taste. If there is a body available for download that you really like, all is fine - just download and install, done. But what if every body mod has at least some little issue for you? Then bodyslide is perfect. It's all about what you want and what is actually available, if what you want is available, you don't really need bodyslide. Another thing is that most body replacers do not have every outfit converted to them, if you use sevenbase for example, you have to use a few armors from UNP or UNPB and so on (I don't think there is a complete vanilla replacer yet, I think). That is not something that's exclusive to bodyslide, that problem is existant for every bodyreplacer.

However, creating the body you want in bodyslide is indeed a bitch. The preview window isn't that helpful because it doesn't take into account what skeleton you are using, for example. The lighting inside the game looks wholly different, too - especially so if you use an enb. What may look nice in the preview window may end up looking weird in-game.

If you mod Skyrim, you should almost feel right at home in the folder structure of your Skyrim installation. If you create a body with bodyslide, all that bodyslide does is placing 2 meshes, femalebody_0 and femalebody_1 inside Skyrim\Data\meshes\actors\character\character assets. There is not much you can screw up here. Even if you create a bunch of armors with bodyslide it's always just the xxxarmor_0 and xxxarmor_1 meshes. I fail to see how one should be able to massively screw that process up. It's neither complicated nor time consuming - sure, it's faster to just drag and drop the stuff you download in your skyrim folder, but then again you don't have the ability to tweak the body to your liking.

I don't want to tell you or anyone else how to use mods or anything, but I don't agree with your point that bodyslide is too complicated or uncomfortable to use. Honestly, I don't see how you can actually make bodyslide more easier to use for what it does. It's a very, very complex but easy-to-use tool that allows people that only know the basics of modding, i.e. how to install stuff, to do things that would otherwise require knowledge of a 3d modelling programm like Blender or 3DSMax. For me that's like a punch in the face for the people that created bodyslide who put so much effort and time to create it. Like I said, bodyslide allows you to do things that would otherwise require extensive knowledge of a modelling programm. That's pretty much insane.

I voted UNPB mostly due to the sheer number of armor mods/replacers available for it.  I used to use CBBE, but was lured away.  :P

I voted for CBBE, mostly because of the bodyslide-tool. I know UNP also has a bodyslide-version by now, but most of the work was done for the original CBBE-bodyslide.

Concerning the discussion about custom races above: I actually don't understand why the modders started using seperate meshes for them in the first place. Most of the big custom race mods provide textures for all body-mods already, so I think it'd be a lot easyer to use the meshes every other race uses and only replace the textures.

I used to run with UNP exclusively, but recently made the switch to UNPB-TBBP. I also use Neovinci's "UNPBB" body to improve the look of the breasts. Overall I am pleased with it. There are a ton of armor mods compatible with UNPB, and even a good selection of UNPB-BBP and UNPB-TBBP gear. I ended up voting for UNPB because of its options, fuller body and more realistic look compared to other body mods.

Having said that, this poll was made before Sevenbase was around. Imo, Sevenbase is the best looking body mod out there. Unfortunately, there just aren't enough armor conversions specifically for it to convince me to change now.

I'd say there are more armors now for 7B than for UNPB.

No simply because you often don't want your character to look like every other character in the game. This gets especially obvious when you use tattoos for your pc or musle normals. Having custom folders for custom races allows you to make characters a lot more unique.

Like it was already said checking the downloaded archives for the custom race's mesh and texture folder locations and then replacing those with new meshes / textures doesn't take longer than a minute if you know how and where a mod manager (or you) installed stuff.

If people are too lazy to even learn that then they just gotta live with the body mod available for the race.
