What makes a GOOD SKYRIM MOD??

Hiya LLers,

I wanted to reach out to you all for the answer to a question. I would like to understand how it is possible for this mod: Resident Evil 2 Remake Claire Redfield for Skyrim SSE & LE 1.0.0  to have 1400 looks in a month's time, but only 215 downloads, and zero comments?

It was posted at the end of March. In less than this time, I have seen 10,000+ downloads on a mod for a silly, demon girl bikini with bat wings outfit. This is a Skyrim follower mod for a walking, talking, following, fighting, laughing, crying, screaming, even bone-possible Claire Redfield from RE2 Remake!!!! ? HER WHOLE FACE MOVES WHEN YOU INTERACT WITH HER. That means there is no other Skyrim mod like this.  ANYWHERE.  ON EARTH. The closest mod similar is a direct-port of the Capcom model of the Elza Walker outfit and a static Claire head. This mod not only has Elza's individual boots, gloves, and jumpsuit to interchange, there are dozens more equipable wears to cover her lovely, completely original nude form--that uses custom high res textures.

Is the word not getting out this exists?  If you are one of those 1200 viewers who left Claire behind, I have to ask you: WHY??  Can't you read?  Are you blind?  Or am I the one without eyes to see I actually just made a shitty mod to share?

Help me understand what makes a great mod, guys?

Fuck your fetish.

No seriously. Fuck it.

What you like has zero context in what someone else may or may not like in a vacuum.

Considering you posted a literal malware nest about two weeks ago, you'll forgive me while I laugh like jon bain just received a marriage proposal from anita sarkeesian, context being skyrim capable flex ports have been a thing since 2014, the roster runs from final fantasy 10 to hatsune miku to soul calibur to AVP2010. So exactly what is unique about your mod again?

No one ever, at any point, needs to share your opinion on anything. Your butthurt is entirely on you.

Also lol at such a painfully kindergarten obvious readvertising scam.

Step up your game.

you have overcomplicated this mod to much ,faceparts  are messed up head cant  be used in racemenu also the  head is a closed mesh with a cone where the neck gap should  be, maybe that  was your intention, body should  be switchable since people use  bodies  they  want  and not what is  forced  on them ,  physics  didnt work  on my end on her, if  this was more  skyrim standard mod  pretty sure more people  would use it ,it would  be much  easier to just  make her  head in racemenu and then create a follower like they are made for skyrim  and  you  also posted this in  general  discussions thread,

Now THIS is a good start toward determining a mod's popularity value, 27X. Claire is simply not correspondent to the current standard for a contemporary Skyrim follower. Thank you for your review of my mod Agiz. :)

Although, I have to tell you there is nothing easy about making a custom head like this follower uses. And it really is the only follower mod of a walking, talking Claire for Skyrim.

I didn't download your mod and I'm not interested in follower mods so I won't review your mod.

But I'll give you some advice.

Too few people downloading your mod doesn't mean your mod is bad. Maybe it is bad indeed but it values different in your own eyes.

If you post something in the community, the community judge your content, not yourself.

Do you know van Gogh? People did appreciate his work years later.

Being an artist means you have to face the failure.

It is true that you are childish when you complaining about it. If you want to be successful, you need to overcome these thoughts, focus on your own art.

Try to judge your art before promoting it.

Do you know that many artist treasure their works and never reveal it to the public? That's because they face the same problem that you are facing.

Indeed. What we create is never going to be appreciated by others the way we, as its creator, appreciate it.

My goal here is to understand how exactly others appreciate it--beyond just the download numbers.

As of learning today, it seems there were some comments made about my mod a few days after it was posted. They were mostly NEGATIVE. I anticipate that means most others who saw the mod also saw the comments, and determined it NOT worth further consideration.

Also, 27X's comment made about me posting an RE2 trainer with viruses, probably did not bode well for my mod, either.  Apparently, there are some scanners which pick up bugs in the Trainer.  I did this scan myself, after another LLaber was kind enough to help:

re2trainer.PNG.ae1350ee9d4b6c09611df36c07429df3.PNG

It seems the most amazing RE2RE trainer does have bugs in it, like those original posters said about it.  However, I honestly have been using it to play RE2 all this month and have no seen as much as a porn-ware shortcut.  If you have a machine you don't care about getting viruses, I still recommend the trainer BUT FOR THAT MACHINE ONLY.

As for my Claire mod, IF my mod sucks, and it seems in the grand scheme it kind of does, that's all I wanted to know.

One of the greatest gifts you can bestow a person is to show them how much they blow at something which they believe they are good at.  I am just not very good at Skyrim modding for people more than those few like myself.

Although, if you run Claire purely standalone, and ask her to follow you after she runs up to you, I believe you will appreciate her as I do, then. Especially if your Expression configuration doesn't have both Aah AND BigAah at 100%. Her mouth opens TOO MUCH then.

Good luck to us all---even you 27X! :)

  1. "Also, she will only stop following you if you ask her to follow you, then tell her to wait. "
    • I don't speak for other people but I would avoid something like that.
  2. Standalone
    • We live in an time where there are bodies that have animated genitalia, Standalone is dated. if your gonna advert that she is fuckable then her body/hands/feet better damn well use what everyone else is. (the body mod the user installed) Why do you think there are do many bodyslide patches for bijin series.
  3. Its loverslab, and your title doesn't use keywords
    • its probably been buried in everyone else's files, and low download count is a norm here, unless its something huge like sexlab or a much needed feature, not a follower added to the endless sea of followers, doesn't matter if she is the only anything, a follower is a follower.
    • your title doesn't even say what it is, the search feature won't pick up on a follower mod that doesn't have the word follower in it.

Don't make mods for people, make mods for yourself, if people don't like it, fuck em. If you made it to get some kind of recognition, I got some bad new for you.

A good mod? A good mod maker spends a lot of time making a mod and testing their mods and having other test them in game. When you get a good mod or several people will trust your abilities more. Many people who still play and mod Skyrim spend a shit-load of time to make it look good and run well and are un-willing to risk ruining their game for one mod. Your mod is very large for a follower here is an example https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/80828?tab=description a fully voiced follower only 39.5 mb yours almost 155 mb. So no I would never download a mod that size for a follower unless there was videos showing the follower in game and would need a boat load of extras. As for the " can't you read " your description is vague at best  you have no details about skin, weight, stats, skills, voice. unp/cbbe ect. ect. You ask why I think you now have your answer I collect followers and have a vast library of them and with out the proper things I described above I would not even consider trying it.... Remember you asked.

Did you at least post it on different mod sites to gauge interest there? If it is truly important to you, then spread it around where other potential user bases can see it to appraise your follower mod's quality for themselves.

People on the Lover's Lab don't always overlap with people from the Nexus and you better believe that people from either site don't map anywhere close to 1-to-1 with most users of Vector Plexus.com.

Undertow.club has some shared users but entirely separate modding focus as does NSFWMods and another site run by a former user of Lover's Lab (one who got on people's bad sides around here for hosting paid mods).

Generally, people seem to see a good follower mod as either one with some unique, fully voiced companion with their own quest lines or a well designed, aesthetically pleasing character whose mod is fairly light weight(something made easier by using esp-fe or esl format for Special Edition).

Of course, there is also the matter of functionality. If a mod does what its description says it does without causing any unforeseen problems, that earns the thing a chance at the very least though it is not guaranteed passing marks just for not breaking users' machines.

As for the face interaction, that is a pretty common feature when it comes to the fully voiced followers with vibrant personality types, be it the better done ones like Inigo, Lucien Flavius or the Interesting NPCs or the older, less polished ones like Vilja in Skyrim. There are no static faces and dead eyes among that crowd of characters.

Might have also helped if you'd posted the file in the right place. Instead of posting it in the Skyrim LE or the Skyrim SE sections, you've buried it away under Downloads\Other\Misc. I hadn't even seen it and I spend quite a bit of time browsing the Skyrim areas of the board. And if I was browsing the miscellaneous adult gaming section of the board, it wouldn't be for Skyrim mods. If a random Monster Hunter mod showed up in the Skyrim download section, I might click on it out of curiosity and to see what the hell it was doing there, but I wouldn't download it.

Well, I think jackcee did a good job on this one,  mfg command also working fine.

But I could be much better if these follower use UNP/CBBE or any casual body.

As for the physic, you just need to manually change the body mesh, and that all, want some proof ? click below spoil tag.

PS: Due to this is forum is discussion, i will hide it in the spoil tag. If mod found that this picture are violate 'general discussion rule' please kindly remove picture below, thank.

firstly i didnt say he didnt do a good job, amazing  what people imagine when they read or dont understand what they read, well good job for the looks and nothing else as i also said in its original post of the mod , technically  this is nothing but a mess , i imagine you have hidden the awful neck gap with that collar or whatever also you could do a spoiler without dogs fucking but hey ... lol -also i think u didnt  notice the head is a  closed mesh and has a cone :D

and also it looks like it was just ripped from re2re and adapted to fit skyrim...as for the physics i was talking about  the original body not what i can copy-paste in folder lol.

and also whatever.

well the thing is i am quite  familiar  with  CGI ,  i know making good heads is not easy but you messed this up on the endgame delivery, if you are making whatever for a game you  have  to work within its  capabilities  limitations and procedures to have a great working product in the end and as little complications possible  during creation  and  then  during gameplay , I  think you can polish this and make it skyrim friendly  but that is up to you, if  you decide to make/port Jill Valentine i hope you will take our criticism constructively
