At the very least, they have no corporate mandate to increase profits year after year. If they were to simply give it a rest (as certain for-pay modders such as Cosplay Sims did after their old Patreon account was terminated, only to move everything to YiffParty for free) or just limit things to a very brief pay exclusivity window, it would help to easy the economic pressure of gaming which modding once helped to do for PC players again. After all, anyone wanting to provide incentives for them to continue their work can still drop them a few bucks on Patreon, Gumroad, Paypal or what have you even after they have the product in hand (or on hard drive, as it were). The thousands of people acting as patrons for indie game makers know that if someone does not find things, the project is highly unlikely to ever be finished (not that funding is a guarantee, either) so there is little reason why anyone wanting certain modders to stick around will toss them a coin every now and then rather than pay to access the paywall once then never go to them again or just finding 'alternative means' of acquiring the mods from someone who paid for it in the first place.

Some of them won't work, I got newer versions and they worked fine.
