gnerd Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 I'm sorry, I'm a complete idiot when it comes to computers. I've downloaded all the Sexlab mods to my desktop, like it says in this thread but I can't find the skyrim directory folder mentioned in step 1. I have no idea what I'm doing. Is there an instructional video on youtube or something that would help me?
myuhinny Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 Skyrim directory is where the game is insalled to when you install the game from steam. It is computer/C:/program files/steam/steamapps/common/ Mods should be installed using a mod manager of your choice. Like NMM (nexus mod manager) - vortex and a few others.
gnerd Posted October 3, 2019 Author Posted October 3, 2019 Ok, I have the Nexus Mod Manager. When I try to the "add mod from file", like the SKSE folder, it just opens the folder. It doesn't add it to the mods.
Grey Cloud Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 You need to do some serious reading and video watching. If you can't even install a mod with NMM then you are not going to get very far.

SKSE is one of those. If you are using a legal version of Skyrim LE then the simplest method is to go here: https://skse.silverlock.org/ and then click the "install via Steam" option. For mods, as opposed to tools, using NMM hit the green "+" sign and choose the add mod from file. Use the browser function provided to find the mod you want to add (probably from your downloads file) and click. It should then show up in your list of mods (if you've done nothing else with NMM it is likely in the "Unassigned" category of mods. You then highlight the mod and click the green checkmark to activate the mod. (Step 1:Load, Step 2:Activate).
gnerd Posted October 3, 2019 Author Posted October 3, 2019 SKSE was the first thing I downloaded. I got it from STEAM and it's on my desktop. lol All the mods listed in that thread are downloaded and unzipped to my desktop. I just don't understand how to get them in the mods folder. I was able to find the mods folder using Myuhinny's instructions, but nothing happens when I copy the files into the mods foler. There's no sex mods in the game, and I don't see them listed in the in-game mods. As far as the Nexus mod manager, I don't even understand what it's for.
donttouchmethere Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 uff, not sure where to start here lol First don't get SKSE from Steam, install it how Psalam said. Be sure NMM found Skyrim and that NMM is set to modify Skyrim and not another game. Use the green ➕ icon in NMM to add your mods from desktop to NMM. Only zip files can be added, don't add loose files, if you have unzipped the mods on desktop rezip them. Activate the the mods by right click on them or double click or use the green ✔️sign. Watch videos on youtube how to use NMM. Google can help with that ;D I liked the ones from Gopher the most.
gnerd Posted October 3, 2019 Author Posted October 3, 2019 Well, the good news is I found the NMM website and managed to get the skyui, and FNIS mods downloaded and installed with the NMM. But, the SKSE is taking forever. Says "moving" on the status bar. Been doing that for about an hour. Is it supposed to take that long? I'll re-download the other stuff and try to add them with the plus button.
gnerd Posted October 4, 2019 Author Posted October 4, 2019 Now when I log in it says the SKSE isn't running so the skyui won't work. So, does anybody know why the SKSE isn't working? I've installed it on the NMM, I copied the dll and exe files to the directory, and the pex files to the scripts folder. Still doesn't work.
gnerd Posted October 4, 2019 Author Posted October 4, 2019 Ok, I've put the exe file and the 2 dll files in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition folder. I copied all the pex files and put them in the game's scripts folder. It still doesn't work. I even tried creating an archive folder of all the pex files and installing them on the mod manager. Nothing works. Somebody please tell me what's wrong with it. lol
Grey Cloud Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 If you are running SE then you are in the wrong place. You need to make sure the mods you have are the correct versions, i.e. for SE and not LE.
gnerd Posted October 4, 2019 Author Posted October 4, 2019 skse64 version 2.00.16 from the link provided to me in this thread.

gnerd Posted October 4, 2019 Author Posted October 4, 2019 The mods that require it don't work, right, but the SKSE itself does not work. That's the one message I get when I turn the game on. "SKSE is not installed."

That's the one message I get when I turn the game on. "SKSE is not installed." Ok, I would suggest you back up just a bit, go over to Youtube and look up Skyrim Gopher. He has some pretty basic videos and he does some explaining of mechanics that you will need to work with mods. Sometimes they get boring and he goes overboard to explain things, but I'm not sure if that is a bad thing. So he will get you started with NMM ins and outs, SKSE, and memory and a few basic mods. Do them to get the hang of things, they are just like a map mod I think. After that, I would come back here and you will get more help than you could dream of. NOT by me, I don't know sh1t, but a lot of people here do.
gnerd Posted October 4, 2019 Author Posted October 4, 2019 Thank you for that video. I wish I'd had this video last night But it didn't tell me anything I didn't spend all night figuring out. Except one thing, where he runs the game with the loader.exe instead of starting the game normally. And I learned something from that. The game crashes every time I try to start it with the loader.exe icon. So, there's definitely something wrong with the SKSE. Is the link to 7zip giving me a bugged version? Was it updated recently?
