New patch coming 7/16?

Recommended Posts

According to the most recent Maxis Monthly video, and a whole lot of reddit chatter, there's a patch coming this Tuesday, July 16. Most of the wailing and gnashing of teeth is the pending redesign of the main menu and loading screens, with new changes to CAS coming, as well.

So... what can we expect to break this time?

Please don't break anything, please don't break anything, please don't break anything.

By the way, does anyone know why they are redesigning the main menu ? This isn't the first time.

Main Menu and Loading Screen changes shouldn't affect anything other than mods that change the loading screen. The Story Mode change (it's optional to use so you don't have to use it) to CAS could affect custom traits that can be assigned to sims in CAS.

Make sure you have Auto Game Updates turned off in Origin.

I read that there will be hundreds of new objects that come from the world arround the lot.

Their unlocking objects that are already in the game in buydebug to the regular Build/Buy. That won't affect anything.

@namaradus Ok my bad. So this patch is not a big deal, i dont mind the visual change.

It shouldn't be as it's too early for another pack. But I would still have Auto Game Updates turned off just in case EA pulls out a surprise they've done that before I remember back with the Sims 3 when they released a Stuff Pack 2 months early (can't remember which one it was offhand).

The new design is ugly and too bright for my eyes and head.  And the loading screen  argh why ? I'm getting headaches and migraines from over saturated stuff like that.

Story Mode change?

It's answering a bunch of questions and based on the answers they'll have traits and an Aspiration assigned automatically and I think also being able to write their life story or Bio of the life they had (or what you want them to have had) up till that point when they where created.

I'm not surprised if anything breaks..... again.

And the idiots drove off Scarlet, so the broken mod list is shut down for good. :(

I heard someone is already working on a mod to revert the main menu and loading screens to the original ones before the patch drops, so when it does drop people can use the mod to make the menu/loading screen the original white one again.

I have sever Photophobia and have to use everything in dark-mode and an orange-tint on my PC screen (it's called night mode). I was able to play the game with no migraines, neck pains or eye-ache when the menu and loading screen was white. Even with my modified screen settings, the blue they are using is far too bright and makes my eyes and head hurt something awful. Didn't they run any screen tests with a sample audience? Didn't they see how these changes would impact people with colour/light sensitivity issues?

This just seems neglectful on EA/Maxis' part.

As it wasn't going to be an EP or GP patch she wasn't going to do a Broken Mods list unless it was absolutely needed and chances are it won't be needed.

From what I understand she still might continue doing the list as she knows that their are people that appreciate and are grateful for it. She's just hurting from the mean comments from the few assholes that don't. And if she doesn't some else will pick up hopefully. The Sims Forums also has a broken mods list usually done by luthienrising.

I am, and I regret I hadn't spoken up about it sooner. I must rectify that. :)

Makes me laugh they changed loading screen to blue , there mod out for that EA must've borrowed it . Be interesting to see what the fixes will be ,  maybe fixes might break script mods etc . Every update mods get updated to . Uicheats etc etc

As for 1000 items brilliant as alot can't be unlocked in debug .

Only if a script mod had incorporated a bug fix for the game into it's scripting will it break but there are few exceptions. Bug fixes generally affect the games scripting and only touch other types of games files used by tuning mods  and CC if absolutely needed. The only mods that would be updated depending on what was needed to be done would be script mods that incorporated a bug fix, tuning mods and only if the game files they use had been changed by a patch and Core mods would also need to be update as those work with specific patch levels/game versions. The game files for CC is rarely touched by bugfixes.

And no not every update do mods need to be updated too. Have you ever made any mods? I have and I know this is false.

Only a Core mod would need to be updated for every single update. But TS4 doesn't have any made for it or at least none that I've seen.

So unless the patch is a major overhaul of bug fixes the vast majority of mods will be unaffected.

I tried but never had any success with stopping that it's one of the most annoying things in the game. I think MCCC has something for that but it doesn't work all the time which tells me the game core is overriding the tuning script. That's very hard to fight against with anything short of a Core mod and I've never made one of those as a Core mod can break the whole game if something goes wrong.

I'm getting a strong feeling that people who really know this game play a way different set of mods.

My sims never use the phone unless I ask, but if you are at some public beach or going home from one, it's very hard to tell them to do anything like to sit or

to take a shower.

I only recently discovered that it is because One of my mods have really pushy sims who stop the player in her tracks while they sashay over slowly from very far away, to

either tell my sim off or request sex.

I'd really like to know which mod decides "it's tuesday, let's rant on player".

It must be some level or challenge, but since I don't know what they are ranting about, and since I've disabled jealousy, I've given up knowing and just Use MC to cheat the relationships back up every few seconds, or delete the sim if she's an unattractive stranger.

And I've had my sims never use the phone either for an entire game and then in an entirely different game constantly mess with the thing and never had a problem telling them to sit and take a shower and that's both with and without mods. It's called autonomy and it's unpredictable on what the game will decide is important or not to make sims do.

Or it could be a combination of certain traits. Dastardly, Erratic, Evil, Hotheaded and Mean alone the traits don't do much depending on the sims mood and on well autonomy is running. But combine a couple of those on a sim and they can lash out for no reason especially if their in a bad mood. And autonomy can also play a big part in it.

I've played the game for 4 yrs and since I make most of my own mods I've combed through every bit of the code so I know it very well thank you. If I'm misunderstanding what you mean I apologize.
