DredayAJO7 Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 Tried using NMM, Trying to use Vortex, I always have some type of problem with either one of them...Is there a better Mod Manager out there? And how would I go about transferring everything?

You can backup your ini files (then put those on modorganizer/profiles/"profile-name"), your downloads folder (move those zip files to modorganizer/downloads, then install all your mods through download tab of MO) Your saves can stay in the default fonder (under documents/games/skyrim...) unless you activate a setting to use local savefiles (then they would need to be under modorganizer/profiles/...). I'm pretty sure there are video tutorials about transfering stuff to MO, there is also the famous Gopher's guide series for MO. Edit: the main feature of MO is to keep most of your mod files away from your Skyrim installation, so if you want to use MO I'd recommend you to uninstall then install again the game so you have a good starting point (a "clean" skyrim install).

xwhiteninjax Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 since it is not clear, which version of skyrim you want to use, there might be a suggestion in order... with Oldrim (skyrim 32bit) the 32bit version of Mod Organizer should be better to use (the last version of it you will find at the same modpage as Mod Organizer 2, too.... so all handlings will follow the 32bit-way and looking for failures is easier to do with (since the new 64bit version of skyrim is handling mods/plugins/BSA in different ways and MO2 is mainly focused on the 64bit version, this should be the safest way to divide both versions of skyrim
Ernest Lemmingway Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 Mod Organizer. Since I don't play Newrim there's no reason for me to switch to MO2. I used NMM for years but when I found this site I switched to take advantage of the flexibility of MO, especially in manually changing mod (not plug-in) load order, seeing what mods were overwriting what, what was redundant, and other sorts of advanced junk that confuses us all. It was a comedy of errors learning how to use it.

Gameplayer Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 I'm using Mod Organizer, Its good for finding problems such as those caused by installing mods in the wrong order. Example, if I were to install Sexlab and then SOS....I have overwritten some key files....With MO I just move SOS above Sexlab. Plus MO has +/- symbols that warn me that files are overwritten and allows me too see quickly that there is potential issue. But with other managers such as NMM....Well I'd have to figure out on my own that I installed those mods in the wrong installation order....If I installed a whole bunch of mods in the wrong order that could be a big tangled mess....... Now the other thing, with another manager I have to completely uninstall SOS and Sexlab then turn around and reinstall them in the correct order.....That takes a lot of time after the fact of figuring out I installed them in the wrong order. Though I have heard that virtual folders cause strain....on the game. So there is Wyrebash with its Bain system but I don't know a lot about it but I hear its like the merge method but built in where it merges all the ESP's down so there is less clutter.

NMM for the start in 2012 and dumped it in favor of MO in 2014, I think. Tried MO2, but since SSE is getting raped by the crapclub every few days, I have no urgency to move to MO2. I consider Vortex still premature, but nevertheless, give them more time and it will be there someday.

You mean you've escaped the cult of mod organizer proselytizing somehow ?? "Pardon me, sir, have you accepted Mod Organizer as your personal savior?" I like NMM because I only use one profile and I do ~half of my modding manually/ right in the data folder so it works best for what I do.

lambient1988 Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 I am using Mod Organizer 2 with Oldrim. And I am loving it, makes load orders a breeze.
