So - I haven't installed the game yet, since I decided to do some research first in the hopes that I'd be better prepared when I do install. The more I read the more questions I have - there are a lot of conflicting views on what to use and the steps to take, and I've bookmarked many videos, wikis, guides, faqs, steps, and it's a bit much. There's no definitive - "do this in this order" which is kinda what I was looking for, but since it doesn't seem to exist, I'll start slower and decide what to do with the one game I already have on Steam. I read it's best to not install syrim in your program files directory, and since I've only just bought the game but haven't installed it, I was going to do the steps to install it elsewhere, but then I ran into a problem. I have one game already installed on Steam - I bought it a while ago and hardly play it, but I don't want to just delete it all together. I read that I should move the games from my program files folder to another folder that I'll create. Then I watched a video that said all I needed to do was give UAC control to the Steam folder location in my program files. Which is correct? For a game (not skyrim) already on Steam should I: Create a new folder and move the game (not skyrim - it's not installed yet) to the new folder, or just give the steam folder in my program files UAC rights? My next question is: After answering the question above, do I install Skyrim before or after whatever step I take? After that's decided, I planned to follow these two STEP guides: STEP GUIDE STEP Guide - Detailed of Above After I've done the installation of the above, then move on to the actual mods I really want: Sexlab Installation https://www.loverslab.com/topic/19588-sexlab-index/ So - if anyone is feeling ambitious and wants to help a poor soul out, please do. I'm hoping that once I get my initial question answered the rest should be a link-filled breeze. Have a good night and thanks!

For your first question you are going to get a lot of conflicting advice. Worik (who I consider a good source and a friend) has just told you that you'd be an idiot NOT to put your Skyrim game elsewhere. On the other hand, mine is where it has always been, with Steam. Therefore, I hope you see there is no one RIGHT answer. I'm not certain what you meant by your second question so I am not going to pretend to answer it. While I recommend the STEP guide without reservation (see my blog - the link is in my signature below) you might find loking at Donttouchmethere's blog of the most benefit when just starting Skyrim de novo: While it was intended to help established gamers restart after they needed to go back to Step 1, it is also a handy guide on all the things that you will want to do and the order in which you want to do them. And, yeah, you're right, if you hit the two blogs I've mentioned, the rest will be a link-filled breeze.

To be honest, it is other way around. F4SE "breaks" for purpose. Changes to memory addresses (which seem to happen quite often during updates, judging from conversation in xEdit Discord server) would otherwise corrupt save files. To real reason why I am replying is to remind that you can prevent game from updating with F4SE. - Set game to update only during launch. - Use F4SE launcher to run the game. F4SE does not prompt Steam update in this case, because Steam uses the default launcher to check the update. Of course I am also using CDante's Fallout4.exe Auto-Backup to backup the executable. Steam has never updated the game for me with settings I mentioned, but some players have noted seeing this happening in rare occasions. Better safe then sorry. Same applies to Skyrim SE. SKSE64 stalls the update, with correct setting in Steam. SSE also has i'ts own Auto-Backup from CDante in Nexus. Nice to hear that you are playing FO4. I wouldn't mind seeing some Inte in it's modding scene. ?

Yes, Worik graciously spent much time soothing my crazed mind and gave me the direction I needed to get started. I was just shocked by how much there is to do, but I'm all in. Worik also gave me the the blog above and I have it bookmarked. I've done nothing but reading all the different resources for the last few days, and I believe it will really help once I get started. Better to do your homework on the front end - I want a stable game, so I think the time I'm taking is for the best. So - I'm going to move steam away from program files. I have NOT installed skyrim yet - I bought it the other day, and it's in my steam waiting to be downloaded. My question is - do I install skyrim before I move steam from program files or after? Let me know what you think and thanks again.

You MUST do so because Steam will then authenticate your copy as purchased and not pirated. After that you can do whatever you like. While most mods don't care whether your Skyrim is legal or not one very important mod does - FNIS. FNIS is very difficult to make work with a pirated version of Skyrim and, since yours is not pirated, it is in your own best interest to run Skyrim the first time through Steam and avoid the issue altogether.
