Bretons Have Elf Ears? I Didn't Know That...

Well apparently my Breton character has pointy elf ears; not too much, but they are still there. And It's the default (0) setting for ears in Racemenu; I didn't change them like it allows you to.  Did Bretons always have elf ears and I just didn't notice, or could this be coming from a mod? I guess I'm not bothered by it, and it does fit into the lore because Bretons have elven blood, but wow; years of playing and I never noticed this? has to be coming from a mod that edits the races, right? only one I have in there is Imperious.

Bretons are genetically stable hybrids

so that makes Bretons, by far, the best (non beast/daedric) race in Tamriel; a human/elf hybrid; it doesn't get much better than that. I am still stunned by the ears, because it came as a shock to me when I noticed them on my character; I didn't know there was that much elven blood going on inside of Bretons. this has to be from a mod? I can't believe I've gone nearly seven years of Skyrim without noticing.

I can definitely live with having elf ears on my Breton character. I'm not going to be able to stop thinking about walking around in Skyrim with elf ears; those elf ears open up tons of new avenues for roleplaying a Breton. I might just go all the way, embrace the elf ears, and add those huge ears that are in Racemenu, because with all that mixbreeding going on between man and mer, anything is possible.

It must be coming from a mod.  Almost all the PCs I've played in Skyrim and Oblivion have been Bretons, and none of them had elf ears.

Agreed. None of my Breton characters have had elven ears in any TES game. The base model in the game also uses human assets for Bretons. It wouldn't give them elven ears unless a mod was changing the presets.

Well they looked pretty elven back there nords couldn't make difference, now their blood has more nede, nord, Imperial in.

Yes they can have elven features like ears or strong elvish eyes.

The mixed blood mages them resistant and adepts naturally at magic.

"Manmer" is thing xD.

Anyway

Pretty sure its from mod as other says.

I don't know what mod it's coming from guys. even the male Bretons have a slight point on the tip of their ears. I've never noticed this before. I have nothing affecting the head.nif files. Is it something that's always been there? did the last version of usleep add something? because I've been digging around in xedit and can find no evidence that explains where these ears have come from.

I'm thinking here, that Bretons have always had elven ears and no one has ever noticed; because who's looking at ears all the time anyway, right? It's subtle, but I'm telling you, they are there.  that entire race needs to stop fooling around with those elves so much; no wonder they have bad reputations in Skyrim...

Yeah, I'm sure vanilla Bretons just have normal, human ears in Skyrim. The character I've played the most over my time with Skyrim is a Breton and I deliberately gave her subtle elf ears by creating them with the sculpt tool in RaceMenu. Until I did that they were just like those of other human races.

okay you guys are right: Bretons have had normal human ears all along, and now I'm suddenly getting elven features on my character preset. I'm not sure where to start looking because I'm not using headmesh replacers, and I don't remember installing or updating any significant mod that would make changes to the races.

I've tried changing the ears in racemenu, and there's no human ears for Bretons; the default are elven, and I'm starting to wonder if this is some kind of bug? I guess I'm not complaining about the ears, because I have to admit they look really cool on a Breton; it feels more like playing an elf, but I would like to know why this is happening.

so what I'm trying to do now is search for another Breton npc in-game that doesn't have their ears obscured from view with their hair, and see if they are pointed; that should tell me if this is widespread, or only happening to my racemenu presets.

I found out the mod it was coming from (glad I wasn't imagining things).

Yep; this will give elf ears to your female Breton presets (maybe other races, but I didn't check) It won't effect NPC Bretons. I'm not sure if the mod author made this intentional or if it's a bug.

Anyway, I'm happy to have figured that one out. Case closed
