Skyrim black screen crash when saving

When I try to save screen goes black but I can still hear the sounds. Also, sometimes when it crashes I see "Video driver has stopped responding and has recovered". I never had these kind of problems. Before the game used to crash at loading and never when saving... Here's my mod list:

Btw, sometimes everything works and I have no idea why. The last mods I installed were Captured Dreams, DD Equip, Deviously Cursed Loot and For The Masses 3. Without them it works but I do not believe that they are the problem because I had this problem a few days ago also, and I have no idea why did it suddenly started working just to stop working again today. I did use LOOT but sometimes it worked better for me when I did it manually. When it works everything works without a problem. Any advice is much appreciated! What mods here are in conflict?

Play in windowed mode for see the message whitout problems.

 

"Video driver has stopped responding and has recovered" is normally a driver problem. Upgrade all yours drivers, and i say ALL because sometimes this problem is not solved upgrading only video card drivers. Can be a problem with video card drivers or motherboard drivers or sound drivers. All are related and all are drivers. Sometimes is related to operating system, verify that you have all the updates for your operating system. In last resort can be a problem in directx or Visual C++ libraries, but this is not normal.

 

If you can't solve it and have problems in others games and applications can be a hardware problem, sometimes related to defective PSU or motherboard or video card.

Try updating your video card drivers.

 

Probably not related but need doing:

Install the latest MNC and get rid of SL Nude Creatures

Remove Realistic Ragdolls - the function is handled by XPMSE skeleton

Remove the 3 FtM3 patches.

Remove Brawl Bugs and install Modern Brawl Bug Fix.

Run LOOT - that load order doesn't look right.

Crashes on hitting 'save' may also be caused by file-corruption, in this case it would be your save. Try going back a few saves and saving there, you'll see if it is a save issue or related to your drivers.

OK I've done everything you guys said (much obliged) but the thing that helped in the end was simply not activating Captured Dreams and I also turned off Trapped in Rubber, although I did manage to use deviously cursed loot, Devious equip and FtM3. I did have some outdated drivers but I don't think that was the case considering that I have many other games that work great, GTA 5 for example. Anyway, now I can save and even though everything seams fine I don't know if it will stay that way, but I'll try it for now. Also, going to an earlier save isn't possible considering there isn't one... I mean I only just installed Skyrim (a few days ago) and started a fresh game. The game used to freeze/crash the EXACT moment that I finished character creation  (in that Live Another Life's Prison) and then it would autosave (no matter if autosave is turned off in settings) and the screen would either glitch (yes, like my GPU is dying but it's not, even the temperature doesn't go over 30 C and vanilla Skyrim works no problem) or it would go black and sound would continue.

OK NEW PROBLEM! It seams to be related to directx but I'm not sure. Even though I can save now I did get a BSOD yesterday when trying to save! I now used BlueScreenView to check BSOD logs. These files were in red:

Are these directx related? Or is my card actually dying? Every other game works fine and also does vannila Skyrim (didn play it that much but saving/loading/traveling.. it all works fine)

It's not a new problem; it is a new symptom of the same problem.

Try googling the files.

On the one hand, if you get BSOD, that means defective hardware or software.

On the other hand, as you say, vanilla skyrim and gta 5 go perfect.

The two things are incompatible.

 

Gta V is very demanding in hardware, operating system, drivers, directx ... The same for skyrim vanilla, if they work, I must rule out problems in the base game (skyrim) and problems in the hardware.

 

Really, how many BSOD got you in the last week? Do you get it ALWAYS with modified Skyrim?

I take it that this is the first BSOD. The question for me is when did he last play GTA and vanilla.

I just played GTA for about 20/30 minutes and then I left it on for some time and when I came back it was on... Not a problem. Runs perfectly. I also played Bioshock Infinite, Mass Effect 3 and Far Cry 4.
I had two BSOD's, one yesterday and one this morning all in the same time when playing Skyrim, as I mentoned. Anyway, since a few hours ago I didn't have a single problem, with only mods inactive CD, TiR and (i didn't mention this but) Amorous Adventures. I also have more than 10,000 animations and FNIS XXL.

I have no idea guys. I did look up about those files, but either I didn't find anything or there isn't anything to find. For now it works the way I said and for now it will suffice. If anything happens I'll say it. And if my computer dies.. well then I'll know what the problem is.

Btw I'll post my PC specs just in case:

i3 4.3GHz

ati radeon 7770HD 1GB

4GB ram

It ain't amazing but it did run GTA 5, although with it's latest update but I got it steady at 1080p with everything high/very high except textures which on high takes almost 2GB vram. Other games also run at high/very high 1080p.

Is evident that you have an OLD machine, more old that mine: i5 4460 + gtx660 2g + 16G

Im really surprised, i never think gta 5 can go on a small machine like that.

 

But talking about skyrim is normal get CTD when put 75 mod's on that machine with Fnis XXL and 10k animations, because you get machine limits. Skyrim not have good internal optimization and a lot of problems has been solved with SKSE, ENBoost, Crash Fixes, un-official patch's... I presume you have all this tools correctly configured.

 

Some problems can be from mod conflicts, other by details in configuration and others by machine limit's. But, Fnis XXL with 10k animations in that old machine... i see it too exagerated... i use normal fnis. Think on remove animations. That can free resources for others mods and can give you more stability in the game.

 

In last, if you not know it, i recomend use BethIni. Is a very good tool for manage Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPref.ini and give some aditional stability on my game, because some parameters in the ini files are too related to stability.

I copied the first file, the ati one and pasted the name into Google. It came up with lots of hits relating to the file and BSODs.

 

I too am surprised that you can run modded Skyrim with 1GB VRAM and 4GB RAM.

Well sure there are many hits on that, but nothing actually helped in my case... but sure, there's always a chance that I simply have no idea what I should do. I didn't find much about those files related to Skyrim, and until I experience similar problems in other games I'll have ti blame it on my mods... Some must be in conflict. Now, after some time i tried these 3 mods again in all possible combinations and I just cannot save. Everything in the game works  except saving. But when I revert back to a backup it works.

For now as it stands I cannot run cd, tir and amorous adventures. No matter which mod I turn on and off. Otherwise the game works.

Honestly, what I'm interested more now than making these mods work is finding some other SL/DD quest mods and seeing if they'll work.

If you know any cool but not too "heavy" for my PC let me know...

Since you are using MO, how do your left side looks like? All seems to miss that part.

 

This is one part of one mod that is outdated and have issues and you truly should download the new one.

You also have one older GPU, have you checked your drivers? Some old card dont work well whit newest drivers.

I did have those nude creatures but I removed them. Although they came back with  More Nasty Critters. The only thing that comes to my mind now is, as you said, to revert back to an older version of GPU drivers... I had installed a new fresh win 7 recently but I let amd site to "install the best driver for my card"... but I guess it's better to do it manually. How do I find out what drivers are most optimal for my card?

I used all the latest Sexlabs and everything that goes with it. I always look for newest versions and I follow mod instruction like the law. I had too many problems in the past not to. And in MCM without CD, TiR and A adventures everything works and looks good.. at least  I think it does. I simply don't have any problems without those 3 mods.

i have an amd a10-7850 with 16gbs of ram but it only has 1 g of vram. so i try to run under a hundred mods.and a few heavy mods at one time.and keep animations at five to seven g.and mix match profiles to use diferent mods in combo rather than trying to run 200 h mods at sametime mess. it runs a bit smoother that way for me

I know, but I didn't run Trapped in Rubber at all. As I said I couldn't get past the first autosave right after creating a character with that mod active.

OK GUYS I THINK I FINALLY DID IT! Yes it WAS the damn drivers! I had to downgrade, although it was a real hassle considering that I had to choose the correct one and there's a huge bunch. Nevertheless I did find the right one! I had amd Adrenaline version 18 point something and now I have 13.9 WHQL Catalyst. It's from the year 2013 so If I learned anything from all this is - when I buy a new graphics card I only download the current drivers at that time for it and NEVER update. Just Kidding.. but I'm almost NOT kidding considering that ALL my games work the same with old drivers, and I have some much never games like Far Cry 4.

Anyway, I do not believe that my Skyrim problems are over yet... I mean they never really are... but at least I can save now WITH ALL MODS!
