Actual scripts should only be a problem for manual installs.

Any decent Mod Manager keeps track of those and will get rid of them all.

Skyrim was notorious for embedding scripts in the saves. I honestly don't know how much better Fallout 4 is in that regard.

I don't think it is a problem

Resaver cleans up what it calls undefined instances and undefined elements.

In my current save, it finds a half dozen or so embedded Ivy scripts.

I am tempted to follow your directions to dismiss Ivy, travel and save. Then see if Resaver finds anything. Might be useful to know.

Any running script is an issue, but some clean up does actually happen in between saves. The trick is to make sure all scripts have stopped. And since Ivy has some 'loops' dismissing her is the first step in getting a 'clean' save. I don't think re-saver is needed and I'll be setting any globals in script during init as well, to make sure that if anything got stuck it's properly re-initialized.

Here's the nitty-gritty: https://www.creationkit.com/fallout4/index.php?title=Save_File_Notes_(Papyrus)

Dismissed Ivy, traveled, saved and reloaded a couple of times.

Resaver found 96 unattached instances. So maybe I have uninstalled a few mods in the last year...

Nothing at all related to Ivy. Your dismiss process got it all.

Stuck that in my Fallout4Custom.ini. Thanks!

My PC is level 150. I don't start new playthroughs very often, and I value my saves...

Development Update

Been thrown into RL work again the past few days but will have some days off coming soon at which I will finish the build for shipment to Chic and voice recording. No new features will be added from here on out so it's all just tweaking, bug fixing and testing (lots of it).

Found a bug with the magazine add-on where Ivy will sometimes not speak her lines after finding a book. So I made the scene much more dependable by setting globals with status values and making sure the scene is run if some globals aren't set right. As she speaks many of these lines only once it's important they are spoken without interruptions so I made the scene like a regular 'remark' scene from companions. It has a package where Ivy will approach the player then she will say her lines... once close enough.

Will Ivy have new dialogues when she picks up vanilla magazine?

Currently she says when you pick a Grognak magazine for example it's Anal Bitches. Will she comment it's Grognak now?

Cause i always founded it weird she would say that.

There is a reason for that. She makes more remarks in that vein.. like 'Is it me, or is that pornography on the wall?'. It's like if it's not pornographic, she can't process it.. So when she says stuff like that, she really does see that magazine, instead of Grognak, so this was done by design. This will remain.. as it would break something of her character to give her remarks that fit. Real porn mags on the other hand, are completely unfiltered to her, so she recognizes them.. and actually likes to catalogue them and will often ask the player if she may scan them into her memory.

Development Update

I'm in the final lag to get the base ESM mod shipped to Chic Geek at the 16th of June. While she is recording that work I'll continue work on the add-ons and other DLC's.

  1. Base Framework + Affinity stuff: 90%
    1. Affinity Quest 'Into the Deep' is at 75%.
    2. Some minor tweaks here and there to do.

  2. NukaWorld (45%)
    1. Nuka World is at 45% of development. But I expect the further development will go quicker.
    2. 95% of the situational awareness and quest integration stuff is done, really just minor tweaks left there.
    3. The second affinity quest is at 25%

  3. Magazine Add-On (99% finished)
I'm just testing this, working out minor bugs. But all in all it works and does what it was designed to do.

  4. Museum of Ponography Add-On (25% finished)
    1. I need to redo the Activators (Chic already voiced the files) and make them use quest dialogue instead of sound files like now.
    2. I need to add some prefabs so players can actually build a Museum (will be quick and easy to do after my learning experiences with the ShackFest mod).
    3. I need to add some furniture so players can assign settlers to 'operate' the museum, ask for an entrance fee, etc..
    4. Do the script work for the above.

  5. Stalkers of Ivy 0% (Not sure if this will be made)
A mod where mercenaries try to steal Ivy from the player, every now and then. I am (.) this close to scrapping this idea.

  6. Far Harbor DLC 0%
    1. Affinity Quest 3 - Ivy and the player will dive deeper into the Synth history of the previous NX-(nx) models. (0%)
    2. Situational Awareness dialogue and Quest Integration 0%

  7. Robot DLC 10%
    1. Quest Integration 0%
    2. I made it so Ivy can become a light follower during this quest, this way she can stick with the player as long as they are forced to travel with Ada.
    3. (Optional) I want to make it so I can install the M-Sat into Ivy, that would solve a lot of issues.

  8. Vault 88 DLC 0%
    1. Not a lot to do in this one. Only Quest integration dialogue. I might put this together in one afternoon the coming week, because it's 'low hanging fruit'. The entire DLC is very small to begin with.

I'd leave it off as a post-release update, if at all.

Curious if Ivy'll pick up on player gender a bit more with some of the dialogues. as I noticed a couple are definitely intended for male PC's. Especially since Chic's wantin that vibe added anyway ?

Keen for the release around October  :D

Honestly, you could probably just throw in a tie-in with Flashy's redone Combat Surrender and Abductions module for players that would actually be interested in that concept. Me, personally? I don't think it's really necessary if it doesn't have a deep questline befitting of Ivy's background, like recruiters from prominent raider gangs wanting her because of her past reputation, or an Institute field team wanting to study her because she's a rogue model. However, this sounds too much like a great mound of work for both you and Chic, so I'd be happier without it being part of the main mod, just for the sake of your sanity.

Don't be too hasty to scrap this idea. I could see a nice little track down quest to get her back. Maybe a proof of love to Ivy when you rescue her. Either by the Gunners or the Institute. Maybe tracking down to locations and finding a 'dropped' holotape with updates from Ivy (spoken or just typed messages.) But yes, something to add on a future update, not now.

I always liked the idea of a kidnapped Ivy, but her teleporter systems make the idea 'moot'. She teleports all the time, at nights to visit customers, etc..etc.. and they are so integrated that no raider would be able to turn them off. This makes her sort of uncatchable/unkidnappable..

I tried adding a new raider to the raider factions and Levelled lists, dedicated to 'stalking Ivy' and it worked... until it started to crash my game uncontrollably whenever I entered a place with raiders. No idea why that happened, but it did, even though I was sure I did everything correctly. That's when I decided 'later, not worth the trouble' and deactivated the add-on. Perhaps when all is said and done I'll look into it. :)

Ivy is hands down the best follower available in Fallout 4, and I'm pretty sure I've tried all the (follower) mods out there. Heather Casdin is the only one that even comes close, and no offense to Heather's voice actor, but Chic Geek is absolutely perfect for Ivy. She flawlessly nails some of the most depraved shit imaginable with a wonderful combination of biting sarcasm and innocent charm. She's like a porn star experiencing the world outside of porn for the first time. Her dialogue is very well written; Ivy is witty as hell during quest dialogues (always have her by your side when speaking to Preston and the other Sanctuarians, as well as Maxson and other BoSholes) and her gutter minded personality is absolutely hilarious. I had to stop playing and clean soda off my keyboard and monitor the first time we woke up together and she offered to be my toilet. Soda out the nose lols.

I've done two complete play-throughs without ever dismissing her and never had any problems with other quests, including the Mecanist's Lair. I'd personally love being able to give Ivy the MSAT instead of the extremely annoying ADA. She's always right there when teleporting out of the Institute and always finds things to do when you idle, in and out of settlements. I also use AFT and XDI without issues (I think). Then again I never even tried using the AFT options on her, she doesn't show up in the Pip-boy menu anyway. I don't think I could do another play-through without her; it would seem too boring. She even makes loot collecting more interesting at times (I don't know Ivy, will that pipe rifle fit in your ass? Let's see...)

TL/DR: Ivy is awesome, thank you so much for your time spent creating such an enjoyable addition to my game and I'm ecstatic about her upcoming contributions to Nuka World and Far Harbor....

Thanks so much. It's kind words like these that inspire me to release my mods, instead of just keeping them for myself.

Hi, welcome to the anonymous fan club of Ivy ?

I will give a tip that is worth gold, try Ivy without the AFT or another multi companion, it even works with AFT if it is after the load order, but you lose a lot, I played it with AFT I think a couple of years and I played the game about 4 times and and I recommenced dozens ...,

and I  "thought" everything was fine, But, one day... since the people talk here, I decided to play another clean game without AFT only with Ivy as an companion and THAT CRAZY, ?
much more comments from her and more of her participation in conversations with other characters in the game.

so yes, the IVY works much better without AFT or another multi companion system

Detail: Ivy works well together with Heather, because heather has a own system and is not inside vanilla and so can accompanp others without needing a multi companion but it does not pay to walk with both because the lines of both are getting out, s so it's better to walk alone with Ivy to have a complete experience with her

Another thing I only noticed a little while ago, Ivy accepted that you have the Dog walking with you very well, so for you, dog and Ivy for the community outside ...

Enjoy the current Ivy, end of the year leaves the new version that will be another jump

Another important detail, the AFT works "less bad" with Ivy only if before the first dialog with Ivy  you get close to it and in the options of the AFT select "ignore it character" (or something), if the AFT identifies IVY as a character that can control will break somewhat her system, not only her with Heather also felt a difference for worse performance.

AFT has great features like clearing or surrounding a settlement, camp and other cool things, but it's easy to get by without a break.

I believe that Ivy allows to accompany the Dog because he does not have dialogues so it does not interfere in the speeches and actions of Ivy.

But reinforcing, forget AFT if you want to have a complete or flawless experience with Ivy.

Companions with stand alone systems are all well and good, but none of them really stack up to Ivy in my opinion. And I don't know why I dislike Heather so. I can't quite put my finger on it. Something about her personality that just chafes me the wrong way. Which is kinda strange, because I absolutely loved Willow in FNV.

You know Reg, come to think of it, I haven't really booted up a serious playthrough of FO4 since you announced the overhauled update for Ivy. Mainly I've just been tinkering around until release. Think I might make a few blueprints while I wait. As much detail as I put in them sometimes, It will help to pass the time.

Development Update

On schedule! Am at the point where I could safely, for the first time in months... build a nice player home for me and Ivy. I had to restart so many games due to life altering stuff changing in Ivy that I was missing just playing with Ivy and building a nice home for her. She's loving it..

Yup, been in the same boat for months and months during development. It's so nice just playing again and scavening the wasteland for a bit.. Especially now that Ivy is so close to being 'technically' complete.

Video is completely SPOILER FREE.

(And features Red Rocket Basement mod)

Wow! The Red Rocket underground home looks amazing! I think you should include your version of it with Ivy 2.0. There could be either a quest to get the key or met a certain affinity and the she gives you the key, just sayin :)

We're already at Ivy 4.0 so the next release will be 5.0! :P

But the fun thing about RR basement is that you can decorate it yourself. Most of the stuff in this build is available, it's the DIY cabinet mod and my ShackFest mod for the internal decoration, DD's lights (I don't think that's available anymore) for the torches. I removed the shadow property from the torches for performance. But I might add them back in for effect.

This was just a quick slap together made this afternoon, I'm still focused on getting Ivy ready for shipping by Sunday.
