twinwolves1001 Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 So, Im new to this, and I already can see where I messed up on the hand/hip placement. But I present to you, Clara and Claudia, The set of Twins who have been very kind to volunteer their services to my pose creating endevors. Both have poses that I made, and I hope you like them. 10

It's a good start. You should probably work a bit on the fingers, looks a bit stiff and weird. That's normal, they're a bit weird to pose right in Blender. A suggestion which has worked out for me when I wasn't quite sure how to pose something and have it not look like ass was to export a vanilla animation and copy parts of it that has what I need but couldn't quite manage to do myself (clenched fists for example), also often useful for facial expressions. 4
mrrakkonn Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 Speaking of posing here's some pictures I put together with a new sim who I think goes well together with an older sim of mine. 7
R-Lo Posted June 5, 2019 Author Posted June 5, 2019 @twinwolves1001 looks nice for a first try! It looks like your getting a good feel it, Fingers and hand placements can be tricky but sometimes it helps to make the movement with your hand or find a pic! It's possible to move the fingers together by shift clicking and highlighting multiple bones, so they roll in line with each other a bit easier, So you select the 4 tips, then work down, then do thumb last, I work similar to mrrakkonn and I sometimes will use a fist that I made earlier! It's funny that so many animators and pose makers will skip over the hands and fingers yet they are quite a big impact for a small detail, you don't always need it but its quite striking when you add it anyways! Nice looking sims BTW! ? 3

Any tips on how to do this? Ive been pretty much googling everything myself to try to learn lol

Ive been pretty much googling everything myself to try to learn lol In Blender you can mark any number of bones on a rig and copy their location, scale and rotation values over to another rig's corresponding bones (mark and CTRL+C and CTRL+V, you can press B in blender to enable box selection). As for the vanilla animations you can get them by exporting them using Sims 4 Studio, when you're making a clip pack there's an option to export an animation, either the currently selected animation or you can choose to export a vanilla animation. Here's a file with all the names of the vanilla animations animations.txt You can use the pose player to play them in game to locate the ones that might be useful to you (I also find lots of them to be useful for my stories as it allows me a great deal of control and I often find I need poses/animations that aren't provided by any of the pose packs I have, especially for more mundane stuff). 4
twinwolves1001 Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Thanks a ton for the info, Ill have to make sure I do this moving forward as it will probably save alot of time and headaches. what about changing the model that is used in blender? It makes trying to make poses for plus sized women hard to do. Im already having a pain in the ass trying to get the poses to look good with clothing on, much less anything else that bulks up the character. 1

It's kind of a spacial awareness that you will develop on regards to clothing, It can be trial and error but there's a trick if you really struggle, you can actually append the clothing to the rig as a reference! It's ok for posing but a little more tasking on the cpu when animating I'll let you get a little bit more accustomed first lol but I'll try make a vid soon to show how that's done, Generally sometimes we will have to leave a small gap between hands and body to allow for variation of sim and state of dress/undress, although it can be a little jarring, it's not always as noticeable as you think once it's in game, It is possible to scale parts of the rig bigger as a reference but any adjustments you make to the proportion of the body won't show when you export it via s4studio 1
R-Lo Posted June 6, 2019 Author Posted June 6, 2019 Just a few poses! I've had an idea for what these two will be doing and will show soon ? 8
mrrakkonn Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Did a pretty major rework on this girl I started on two weeks or so ago, but decided I needed to give her face a do-over. Using an older sim I wasn't as a basis and some time later I think I now have something that's a little bit more distinctive than what I had. Also put together some outfits for the new girl I posted last page. 6

They are from RedHeadSims. One version is normal, the other is based on Kijiko's Pose Helper. (it has handles for feet, hands and knees). I also found that he has a series of (normal) rigs from a bit bigger to rather large. It gives a clue where to place the hands etc, but you can still have clipping in. If you want them, check RedHeadSims. I can also provide them, just let me know. @R-Lo: appending clothes was something I could manage with posing for the Sims 3, but not for the Sims 4. I would be thankful for a tutorial on that. Here some pics: first is what CoupureElectrique (later RedHeadSims) put in his rar file. Second and third I made to show you the rig. 2
mrrakkonn Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Found a new hair for this sim I had been low-key searching for a new hair for (the old hair looked good but had serious issues with how it moved and clipped during lots of animations), I like this one, though it kind of makes me want a good slider or something to adjust the position of sims' glasses. If anyone knows about one I'd appreciate knowing about it! 2

If anyone knows about one I'd appreciate knowing about it! It's a nice look! Since the hair seems to change the skull shape at times, I'd maybe make her facial features a bit smaller, then enlarge the head overall if needed, it's a good fit but may look nicer with a little more forehead? I'm having to export them and adjust the glasses in blender when I use them, they always seem to sit too high! 2
Country_Boy Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Spoiler I'm Back , all you perverted simmers ? Just some random shots from the last few months. I usually create a story board to go along with the screenshots, but just haven't felt up to it since the last thread was removed. It's a lot of them, so a spoiler was needed. Hope everyone enjoys. Most of the sims you'll see belong to the awesome "Porkybork's World" and the awesome townies they re-created to go along with it, found here on LoversLab. https://www.loverslab.com/topic/110551-fixed-hopefully-porkyborks-world-dl-link-in-op/ 4

For the forehead, maybe, could have a look at how that will look. 1
erplederp Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 @mrrakkonn Adjusting the glasses' mesh position in Blender is probably the best approach here, as R-Lo says. I think I ended up adjusting all three glasses I used on Lara - to properly sit on her nose or in her hair (didn't like the levitation ?). 3

Doesn't take long to do and use your pic as a reference too, you can have a bit of fun with adding a sexy tilt on the nose and changing the size of them too, press s to rescale and if you press s then z or x, it will switch between horizontal and vertical 1

I'm gonna be enjoying those two and I've been in build mode a bit too, I finally have an idea where they'll fit! I hope you feel better soon and don't worry about it, we're all basket cases in our own ways and I hope things improve for you soon ? 3
mrrakkonn Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 I just adjusted the glasses' horizontal position a bit and I think it turned out okay. Should probably have cloned them rather than replaced the .package, but eh. Also tried to take your advice R-Lo, I don't know just how noticeable it is but I increased the size of her forehead a bit (basically I move the face down a bit and moved the chin up to compensate) and slightly edited her eyes and nose (those should probably be too subtle to notice). 2

Yeah looks perfect! That's what I was looking at, it really bugs me how some hair cut will change things so much, I guess when hair creators test their work on their own models that are far from default themselves like ours, Was the glasses a mod? Either way it's probably ok how you did that as you fixed it for all your sims, it's a common issue and no matter what you do no slider seems to touch it ? 2

Yeah those glasses are CC, I quite like them come in both sunglasses and normal glasses variant. https://www.simsdom.com/en/download/the-sims4/item/fletcher-glasses-by-ilkup-138908 1
mrrakkonn Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Shouldn't use sims I'm in the process of editing for photos, especially when I make changes that I end really happy with. Some beach posing pics. 9
