[Fixed] Neck seam on UNP body with Fair Skin, tried known fixes, doesn't help, Texblend doesn't do anything.

Hi, second time posting here, and yet again, it's for a problem, although not as bad as last time.

Last time I modded Skyrim, I went with CBBE, was quite happy with the body itself but the lack of decent armor sets threw me off a bit, it was all skimpy stuff, which, as much as I like it, doesn't really match well with Skyrim, so I went for UNP this time around.

Problem is, I have a very faint neck seam with the texture and I have no idea how to fix it, I tried this texture blender preset but it didn't change anything, I tried different skin textures and presets, but the seam is still there on all of them.

The problem, from what I can gather looking at it, is that the head is bigger than the body, not by much, but it's enough to create a seam, no matter if it's on 0 weight or 1 weight

If it's any help, here's my mod list (Modwat.ch) and my load order (Pastebin)

I've also posted on Reddit about this but despite the things that were pointed out, no fix has been achieved so far.

Any help to fix this would be greatly appreciated, as it's quite noticeable despite being this small.

Thanks for your time.

EDIT: Fixed, went from UNP body to Seraphim's UNP body as suggested by Fifoo in the thread and neck gap is gone.

Thanks for the help, everybody.

Neck seam and neck GAP are two different things.

A seam is just where the color turns different and stays different. A gap is caused by mesh inconsistencies and needs to have the correct SIZE, the correct WEIGHT and correct VERTEX COUNT, if any of these are off there will be a gap and there is no fix until all of the above match as they're supposed to.

if it is for your char with the neckscream, try to change it in racemenu ( sculpt-tab), maybe you look here how to do it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdPQiOiWfSA

Some other characters have a neck seam as well, not all of them tho, but I suspect that's because of one of my many NPC overhauls, but they're also causing texture troubles for individual NPCs, so I'm trying to disable them one by one and seeing which one fucks with which, but yeah, I didn't think of that, actually, sculpting the head. Thanks

Well, it's a neck gap then, but all the meshes are the right ones, checked by hand on the Data tab on MO, everything is bodyslided, so if there's a gap, I don't know what do to then, seems out of my hands. I might just go back to CBBE at this point and look long and hard for some not too skimpy armor sets

Is there a neck gap with all armors?

You could try the 'Disable' / 'Enable' trick.

Open the console

click on the character with the gap

type 'disable' and hit return (char will disappear)

immediately type 'enable' and hit return (char will re-appear though not necessarily in the exact same spot)

May or may not work, it depends on the underlying problem.

Post the meshes and i'll have a quick look in 3DS if the weights eyc match up.

meshes.rar They were built with the UUNP Special preset, since I'm also using HDT Bounce and Jiggles, if you need that bit of info. Cheers.

The armors don't change the neck gap at all, tried it earlier after someone suggested to see if outfits did anything on Reddit.

Sounds like it could be an issue with the head mesh. Thee only suggestion I can think of is to try reinstalling Bodyslide and allow it to overwrite the head mesh.

Forgot to ask for a screenshot, but tried the meshes in my game and this is what i get:

If this is not what you have experienced let me know.

Ps, checked the meshes in 3DS and they seem fine.

This is what some NPCs look like but not all of them and my character has a huge gap, there's two screenshots in the first post of how it looks on my character at both weight 0 and weight 1, but that is fixable with sculpting, as whiteninja pointed out, I'll keep trying to troubleshoot this and if I can't figure it out, I'll just hop back to CBBE, probably.

there is another easy way to get rid of your problem (not permanently, but inside a savegame)... just install the mod "PS Universal PC NPC Body Changer" https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/47791  , this mod has the ability to change the bodies of the player and any npc ingamestyle with many bodies and textures.... (even UNP and CBBE ones...) so you will likely find the same body (and reinstalling them with this mod will get rid of any false texture) or a similiar/better one...

so you are able to "fix" the ones you are meeting inside your game... and using CBBE-armors at the same time as UNP-ones, if you like it... variety in the game is not as bad as most are thinking...

I'd rather have everything working so I can just play the game, to be honest. I don't want to have to fiddle around when I'm actually playing, if I can fix it before starting my playthrough, I will, if I can't, I'll just go for another mod that does what I want that works out of the box. *cough* CBBE *cough*

this is, what the mentioned mod is doing... works like a spell (ok.. .triggered with a dialoge... but how hard is it, to choose the body (from 7 types) and the textures from 14 types?... all done within one minute and you can play on

and, not to play the devils advocat... skyrim will never be bug-free... so live with it (and see it like "shapeshifting" as Vamplords or Werewolves do it, too)

don't feel like looking at a mod list (as if i knew half of whatever there is in that, and in what order it was installed)

and your rar doesn't download

but i bet there isn't femalehead.nif or femalehead.tri in that

and i bet the gap is whatever head mod you use

many fail messing with stuff thanks to those long and useless tutos (if those tuto were good, they would not fail)

Current UNP model is fixed already with those, checked with Nifskope earlier

Okay - and you've double checked you have normal and speculars all from the same source?  That's the only other thing I can think of? maybe you have body and hands from 1 set, and the head is from a different one? Used to frustrate me with EEO - head  normal was really difficult to textblend - I just ended up editing my own.

BrHooker, may I suggest you to have a look at this thread as you are in desperate need to find a working solution? The last post:

"The UNP with HDT that I was using was improperly weighted at the neck which caused the seam issues. Thus, I changed the HDT body to Seraphim where the weighting is much better.

So my end result is really a Seraphim body smooshed into a different shape and it works great with the UNP textures that I have."

Will have a look at that, thanks for pointing me to it.

Yup, I took a while looking at skin texture packs to find one that included everything, not just a body texture, but head as well and it was overwriting every other NPC overhaul and whatnot in MO to make sure that there was no inconsistencies with it, also got no black faces when using Texblend to try to fix it, so fairly certain everything was indeed there.

With pleasure. She also used gerra6's tools. The link given in the thread won't work but you can find them here in LoversLab:

Mesh Rigger (Skyrim, Fallout, Oblivion) Beta.89.f (10-26-2014)

New Clothing Body Style Converter Beta v0.89f (10-26-2014)

Perhaps it is worth it to try them?

The tools she used were specifically to convert outfits, I'm afraid they won't be of any help to me, but I did switch to Seraphim and I am happy to report that the neck gap is gone, both at weight 0 and weight 1, now I just have to fix the very slight neck seam that is present and once that's done, re-bodyslide all my outfits and I can play! (Or well, that's the theory anyway. I pray that it's the end.)

Again, thank you very much for pointing me to that, you've just saved me many hours of headaches.

Well you are fast, well done and I hope that everything is going well for the rest of your BodySlided Outfits, I wish you a good game.

Again, thank you, I would've never looked for another UNP body replacer to fix that issue, would've never crossed my mind. Time to play!
