Sex in Sims 4 looks...weird/unattractive - is it just me?

So I'm a long time Sims player..and "sex" mod user for a huge list of games including the Sims series.

 

Out of all those games, I find theres something about the Sims in the Sims 4 that look unnatural having sex based on the games art styled direction and how different Sims look without their clothes on in 4.  I don't mean because they are having sex, but when they are naked and doing sexual activities...it looks off in my eyes.  Like unattractive "this is not a turn on to watch" because of the way (?) Sims in the Sims 4 are shaped and appear naked - I noticed this specifically when they are naked I should add.

 

It seems  to be something about how their limbs are attached, like they are made from play dough really shows when they are nude. 

 

I even find a Sim LOOKS slightly different completely nude in the Sims 4 in general and this made me realize just how defined the Sims 4 is by clothing.  I'm not talking about skin textures - I'm talking physical shape of the bodies underneath clothes.  Heck high res textures make them look even more unnatural to the eye, almost like they are made from molds of clay or something with a "skin" wrapped on them and it really stands out when its just a nude sim in a skin. You just don't "see" this when they are clothes.  But I find it really stands out when they are naked and when they are its like the character models suddenly look really...low tech for lack of a better term.

 

Is it just me or does anybody else find this?

Funny - but it seems this is just Sims 4!

 

For me the maxis facial expressions are not well done too - if we use poseplayer or WW poses, the facial expressions are much better too.

i must be the odd guy out but I really like the facial expressions and plastic-ness of the sims. I never played TS3 but i bought TS4 just because i liked the way faces looked as well as animations. But once i discovered WW that just turned it into a disney porn simulator.

I have to work on comic style screenshots a bit more, but more like adult comics - it would be great to got a simworld like this too.

For me as a new Simmer and not having played any Sims before last year, I was faced with the choice of the two, despite all the pro's of the previous game that can be mentioned, I found TS4 much prettier to look at, The cartoony factor of the game works for me with the style of characters I wanted to create and I feel that in the quest for a more realistic look, the Sims of TS3 look more like dolls or mannequin, as much as they appear more solid looking they don't look as vibrant and alive behind the eyes,

I don't think any of the Sims I've created would have the same energy to them in the previous game as it has a different tone, but hey.... this is like asking which is the better of Marvel or DC, we all look at things in our own way and one person's kipper maybe another's strawberry sunday!

I can see where you're coming from. I wasn't too crazy about sex animations for TS4 at first mostly because I didn't like the design of the original characters (whoever redesigned Nina Caliente to look like... THAT needs to slap themselves). The limitations of the sims models' movements also become a lot more apparent in some animations and poses, especially around the shoulders.

 

I started to get into it more, however, when I started designing my own sims and redesigning some of the OCs in the game to fit my own tastes. Once I found a few custom skins and other CC that I liked, I became a lot more enthused by the whole thing.

 

Maybe designing your own sims to suit your own ideas of beauty will get you into it more? I'd also suggest being a bit more selective of what animations you download if you think they look weird. Mike, Amra, and Azmodan are the best in this regard IMO, and R-Lo seems to be getting better with each new iteration.

 

Maybe that'll make your game more enjoyable, maybe it won't, but it doesn't hurt to try, right lol?

I'm okay with TS4's sims but my god TS3 base game sims looked fucking horrendous.

Eh, I'd say it looks fine. It really all comes down to the animations and such I think, and there's quite alot of them by this point. As for the sims they look much better than the TS3 doughfaces and you can actually make some pretty good looking sims in this one with just a good skin (default, overlay, skintone, what have you) as a starting point, and there's some pretty good body meshes and such as well.

Agree!

 

That is why it needs tweaks, to make it better.

 

For male, I use LuumiaSims lean + muscular top and lunar eclipse penis bottom, sometimes better body penis.

 

For female, I use better body too and bottom. The shape of the breast is different, it look natural with gravity effect. And the bottom it have vagina crack. 

 

The texture is self made skin blend based on LuumiaSims smoothish 2 skin with many others. 

 

As well as reshaping the body slider to make it realistic. Btw, how to save custom body slides present to the body shape pool?

All of what you said. Truthfully I dont want sims to look realistic because it doesnt match the world. I think thats why i never pursue classic skins.

 

I love that the game has so much personality in the animations. TS3 couldn't be this cute.

Funny, but  think sims 4 sims are the best looking of all the sims series as in: perfect features etc, but for me that can get boring. Some of my sims look fantastic others are just ordinary Joes, which I love, that's reality!

 

I don't play wickedwhims to get turned on, although  I admit I'd be hot under the collar for some of my male sims if they were real...

 

I play with ww for fun and realism. Same reason I use basemental's drugs, it's realism and I love real! I loved how real sims 3 sims were!

sims4 has probably the most consistent and well rounded art style in a sims game... however it makes it a very closed style to fit anything it that wasn't accounted for when desigining it.  E.g. it is intentionally cartoonish to be more expressive in emotions etc. which also works better with the less realistic graphic style.

I too prefer much more the cartoonish style of sims 4 over the "realistic" one in sims 3.

But yeah maybe my memory is fooling me but i preferred the sex in kinkyworld/ sims 3.

Besides being much better integrated in the gameplay (you can run a brothel, be an escort, spike drinks and do all sort of depraved stuff with only the base mod) the animations and sex looked better on sims 3, every animation had breast bounce for example and it generally looked better then sims 4 bouncing.

 

Still, i'm done with sims 3, as other mentioned characters look pretty awful compared to sims 4. Also it's buggy as fuck and performance is horrible.

After a very long time not playing any sims games and then directly jump to ts4, ts4 sims looks great.

 

But after reinstall ts3 and restore my old savegame (with a lot of customization)... Then replaying ts4 again, I can say ts4 doesn't look great anymore. 

 

In term of sims body and overall graphic look. 

 

But anyway, ts4 cloth design is much better than ts3.
