I've actually had renewed interest in my mod as of late and intend on making some great progress soon! I had been taking a break to play Halo and have been doing so for the last 8 months or so. Some 1100 hours later, I'm a little burnt out and ready to return to my project, lol. I think I'm just gonna suck it up, pump it out, and deal with whatever changes come down the road that inspire me to update it. You can track all my plans/progress on the google docs folder I got.

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/15UYw3TkeDe8e4fmoNaeAVX5R4AABXQID?usp=sharing

I've also been in contact with Alcor and intend on doing a text replacement for all of his curios/sprite changes. It'll probably be in the form of a small mod that will go in the mods list so I don't go entirely insane :^)

And of course, I'd love to help you make your mod a reality. Do keep in touch!

Does anyone have a version of the hentai video mod with English subtitles instead of Russian?

As far as I know, that does not exsist.  Despite being a mod, the videos are stored in the Darkest_Sex_Dungeon\Darkest Sex Dungeon The Color of Madness\video folder.

Personally, I deleted the massive Russian subtitled videos and replaced them with 15-30 second video clips.  I'm not going to watch a 90 minute clip after clearing a boss...

There are many places around where you can acquire either the clips already in said folder or other ones more to your taste as well as a free website to convert them to .ogv format.

Alright, thx everyone for providing all these mods, you all rocks^^!

However, for a moment now, I've been trying to see how to install those mods. The mods folder is there, with the hammer icon inside. What skymods and steam community told me was to subscribe (?) and enable the mods by clicking on a hammer icon ingame on the main menu, right besides the save, but the problem is, I'm not seeing any of that blue hammer icon, only Delete Save and Enable/view DLC. I've been trying to look for the solutions and some says I should just modify the game's files directly? I'm not sure...so I'd like someone to tell me their side of the solution.

I'm playing the game from the windowsnosteam if that could help as an information.

EDIT: Ah nvm, just found out why the mods didn't display.

EDIT 2: Ok, now it seems that only the ones with project.xml like '2136397156 Super Cute Antiquarian' and 'Sexy_fallen_hero (new version)' can be displayed. So does that mean that I will have to copy/paste all the rest that doesn't have that project file into the game's folder?

EDIT: I would like to specify that I'm only talking about skin modding here, NOT GAMEPLAY MODS. Don't do this for gameplay mods or there will be trouble.

A lot of people (including myself) modify Darkest Dungeon manually by overwriting files. It's actually pretty easy, I'll try and explain here:

Darkest Dungeon has an open directory structure, all the visuals in the game are just individual image files which you can easily overwrite.

First, right click Darkest Dungeon in your steam library and select "Browse Local Files". The hero skins are stored under DarkestDungeon/heroes. The town stuff is mostly under DarkestDungeon/campaign.

99% of DD skins come with their folders set up in the same way, so all you do is copy the mod into your DarkestDungeon folder and select Yes when prompted to merge the folders and overwrite any files with the same name. I keep a backup of vanilla DD in case I want to revert a mod, but you can also have Steam verify your game files.

I don't use the /mods folder at all.

For hero skins specifically you can see that under each hero's folder, there's multiple skins:

crusader_A

crusader_B

etc

Just take your custom crusader skin and add a new folder:

crusader_Z (any letter of the alphabet)

PROTIP: you can put whatever you want BEFORE the hero name in the folder. So if you have over 26 skins for a hero, you can do this:

NIUR_crusader_Z

JEFUTY_crusader_A

Hope that helps.

I'm sorry to tell you that it is the worst possible method, first because you overwrite one mod with another and in such a way that only one and the other will work halfway, it is also possible that as you progress through the game you start to perceive CTDs, your save file will start to inflate and lose all your progress in week 70/80. Well if they are small modifications (skins) it may not affect much, but without they are large mods at the beginning you will not notice the errors / failures but later yes. When you have your first CTDs you will already have lost your game since you will not know what mod caused it since you have all the mods combined with the folders of the original game.

That is why it is good to download directly from steam and it is stored in a different location from the game and from there it will appear in the list of mods when you start your game (in your game to one side you will find an icon of a blue hammer, press and it is your list of mods, the mod that is at the top is the one that will have the highest priority) and from there you can better order the mods and you can even create compatibility patches easily.

The same applies for the mods folder, simply download the complete and updated mod and put all the mod in a single folder inside the mods folder, and all that remains is to sort and see which mod is given higher priority. If a CTD occurs, it is easier to identify what mod can cause it, simply by disabling it from your list of mods in the game.

You are right, I should have specified that I was only talking about skins, not mods that affect gameplay such as new heroes or trinkets. I have added a disclaimer to my original post.

Manually changing skin files will never affect your save because it is only a visual change, so there's 0% change of CTD if you know what you're doing. I have two computers that I play DD on, one with skimpy/hentai skins and one without, and I play the same save on both using Steam cloud to sync the changes. Never had an issue with my method.

Some ideas about the background

I came for mods and  instructed finished, what a good service

excellent designs

Personally I like all of it. Anything made with your art style is an automatic download for me Jefuty, and I like the world building you have here for the different areas. The one suggestion I would have for these ideas, is to separate the gore from the non-gore. I know you usually divide your versions into "normal" and "hardcore", but even your "normal" files frequently include dead bodies, blood, cut off limbs, etc. While I personally have no issues with this, I know that blood/gore of any kind is an instant turn off for some people here. Which is a shame, because your simple nude mods should be great for anyone, but they might not download the file in the first place if they see a little gore. I would therefore recommend having separate downloads for "nude/no gore" and "nude/with gore", to maximize the audience you get.

I have to concur with the above. Guro is an instant "nope" from me.

I normally don't download the background mods, because I honestly feel they are more disruptive than engaging. But those courtyard backgrounds that were posted earlier which are just more polished versions of previously existing backgrounds with some nude statues (which fit thematically), those were great. I'd absolutely love a pack full of things like that; basically the nude/no gore option previously mentioned.

Posted

Oh...hummm
It may be that some screenshots I saw when reading this post made me a little misunderstood.
I thought most of the mod users of DD here like the more...special kind
So I directly used a more radical idea when asking for comments... Sorry

In fact, the options I listed earlier actually have quite a few...

A more peaceful transformation
For example, the bleeding woman in the courtyard can be wrapped in black cloth,
Looks like a roadside weird in the original game,
Just sexier
The hanging mermaid carcass can be easily transformed into a similar stone statue.
Looks intact and beautiful
Women's corpses will cover various parts with cloth, which looks quiet and harmless...
Victims in towns will also dress well in the peace version,
Or hidden by some obstacles...

The story of the mermaid will also become
"Various beautiful statues are distributed among the caves,
The style is not the same as the crude old god statue
Were there other creatures living here in the past? "
This feeling

The background design ideas and the character painting ideas are still somewhat different
Characters will try their best to ensure the beauty of the basic state, and then change to the erotic aspect.
For the background category, because of the more variable composition,

first consider the porn version or even the hardcore version.
It would be more suitable to consider harmless modification

As for some things that cannot be changed,
When I publish mods in workshops and other places,
I will set it to the default hidden state,
Only manual replacement by the player will be displayed in the game
After all, in the workshop, MODs that directly display content above 18X are easily reported.
I was once locked into a mod because of this, and it needs to be modified before it can be displayed normally...

So actually when the mod is officially released,
will have
1. "The harmless art version" (but with less content)
2. Naked version (no blood and scary options, more content)
3. Hardcore version (contains a variety of more extreme options, the most content)
Three options

The ordinary/hardcore mentioned before is the level of the idea itself.
It does not represent the classification of the final result.

What is released here is just the initial test version for absorbing opinions,
So the content will be a bit mixed

humm...I will consider these opinions appropriately,
Thank you for sharing these ideas

I love your ideas and the lore explaining each scene. I'm not big into guro myself but pretty much anything else I'll go for.

One recurring theme I like in a lot of your town NPC skins is the glowing "inmon" or womb tattoo. Like your town crier and tavern keeper:

Ch0KJMi.png

Please consider making use of this visual element in some of your backgrounds as well. Like the monsters are magically branding their slaves as part of a fertility ritual, or something like that. Also please consider including slave brands, blindfolds, collars, chains or restraints where it would make sense.

Here are some ideas for specific zones inspired by what you've written:

Relics: more statues/busts like the courtyard. Banshees, ghosts, succubi and/or monstergirl bats lurking in the shadows

Wilderness: woman trapped in a pitcher plant or venus flytrap. A former adventurer restrained and penetrated by vines. A tree with a female body as the trunk. Female Dryads and Satyrs peeking out from behind bushes/trees.

Dark dungeon: Someone who is extremely pregnant with tentacles emerging from the vagina/mouth. Naked cultists chanting with ahegao faces.

A lot of Jefuty's skins are already like this. Not a separate download, but they usually have a "Special Edit" folder under the mod with additional options, that's where they put their hardcore stuff.

I may continue to focus on beautifying the background for a while,
Including dungeon and town background,
Sometimes I will draw some town characters

These are some updates from the past few weeks.

Looks great!  Thanks for the backgrounds Jefuty!

In a world that is focusing on class skins, your work on backgrounds is desperately needed!

Interesting idea! I will write them down and try to implement them.

In fact, I have now been inspired by some new ideas!

The wall reliefs in the ruins,
Female knight: full body armor holding a sword serious / broken armor, naked chest and lower body holding a sword / wearing slave equipment holding a broken sword, signs of flogging and torture on her body
Sisters: praying in nun uniforms all over / praying in part of nun uniforms, dripping milk / praying in slave equipment, signs of flogging and torture

I will look up the medieval paintings and sculptures to find out the feeling...

Here's the full Arbalest mod with the edits. I removed it from mods though and put it right into the game. It doesn't work with other Arbalest skins. Eventually you'll be replacing it with Xelsword's skin anyways. I recommend renaming your Abalest folder "Arbalest_BACKUP" before putting this mod in your heroes folder if you have various skins.
