Sex in Video Games- Why We Love it!

As far back as I can remember, to when I saw my first arcade game- Stargate or Defender I think- I was hooked on video games. Almost every quarter I earned doing chores or mowing lawns was dropped into that slot to see if I could beat my highest score(or someone else's). When I was playing my game, nothing and no one else mattered. I was lost to this world- until I ran out of money! There was just something about the flashing lights and cool sounds of these electronic wonders that simply mesmerized me. Then I hit puberty. The tiny pixelated images of girls in a game was barely distinguishable. Slightly larger eyes and a bit longer hair is all there really was. But I liked it. The thought of saving the damsel in distress was most appealing. Though that was certainly entertaining, it was not what I considered arousing.

But, then somewhere in the 90's those pixelated girls started to look better and better. Probably the first "crush" I can remember on a game girl was Tifa in FF7. Then there was of course Tomb Raider. Now things changed again for the better (or should I say sexy?). Watching Lara climb and jump and crawl and swim was a lot of fun (bet you can still find screenies of her blocky ass and tits)! I enjoyed *playing* with her so much that I would brave a deep sea full of bloodthirsty sharks! Now I know there were other "hotties" in games by that point, but Lara is just the easiest to remember. Another was Bastila from Kotor. I'm sure there may have been some handsome male chars in those older games for the ladies as well. From then to now, sex has become an integral part of our more adult oriented games and we damn well love it!

Now the heart of my reflections on an ill-spent childhood and teenage years well into adulthood is this. Why? Why did I fall so hopelessly in love with video games? It is like an addiction for me. I have literally wasted a sizable portion of my life sitting and playing these games- with nothing to show for any of it. Presidents have come and gone. Musical genres have started and died out. Wars have begun and ended. All the while, I ignored all of it to some extent in favor of being able to keep playing. Is it just that the games keep looking better? The women- and men- keep looking and acting sexier? The choices keep growing and being more varied in terms of style of play and content? I have given much thought to why I and others seem to be addicted to video games. Better than TV or movies. Better than learning how to golf. Better than those cookies your Granny made for you. Better than porn in some cases! Why do we keep coming back for more? There doesn't seem to be a clear answer for me. I will probably die with a game going in front of me (hopefully during a really hot sex scene!). :P

Why the 'We'? Why not 'I'? I know it's one of those old marketing and propaganda things to use 'We' to try instill a sense of belonging in the target audience before you are sold a position, (be it toilet roll or some piece of eurocrap BBC social engineering). However if you want to put out your position in an honest way just man up and use 'I'.

Immersion is thrown around like candy anymore but it's a big factor nonetheless, the other is Engagement.

Engagement happens first, and if things line up well enough Immersion becomes a thing, and that's the key, and why games will eventually supplant most othjer forms of media as the most consumed entertainment thing, though that's still along way off.

The ability to personalize experience is also key.

I wouldnt go so far to call it wasted lifetime, if you enjoy it. The highest meaning in life should be to enjoy the time. Some people stack up millions of matches or collecting stones, some playing football or video games. Behaviors are so wide stretched.

Psychologics saying that the feeling of "have everything under control" which is given in video games is a important mirror of what you get in all-days-life and this is the reason we escape in this.

I say fuck it, video games are just great, because In the end nothing really matters because in the end of time, every little piece of dust and materia will be absorbed in a giant black hole and nothing will be left, so it doesn't matter if you build monuments or "waste your time" at a PC.

As little flat girls we liked dad's old Larry Laffer games. Less impressed by Larry himself we were cocksure that already soon we'd match these girls. The awakening of female consciousness and hunting instinct, yup. Nothing has changed since then. Sex or in a broader sense erotic in today video games is just a reflection of a reality as adult human. Subtract it from the rpg equation for the sake of a fuckin agenda or offer a mere handful preselected spouses in antiquated mom-and-dad-wish-you-well fashion, that just produces pissed off or at least bored adults. I for one prefer to make my own choice when it comes to sex. Always. So at the end of the day I get what I want in game and be it via console commands and mighty mod magic... doin' it the way I wanna.

This is a site devoted more or less to sex in video games. Is it not? So I think "I" can safely assume others here may feel the same way about sexy video games. Thus the use of "we", but not necessarily "you". :D

@ formanfred yeah the TR series was pretty hot when it first came out! Do you remember how they would tease players by having Lara change clothes just out of sight? She will always hold a place in my top sexy video game girls.

Generally, I think what makes nudity and sex so hot in the gaming world is that it is usually not the focus of mainstream games. What I mean is that sex can be so much hotter in a game when it is included in a non-specific context to sort of complement the game itself. Witcher 3 did the best job of intertwining a powerful sexual undertone to the open world exploration, story, and combat. When Geralt accomplishes something pretty awesome, then part of his reward is getting to bed some beauty that was involved some how. Also the women are mostly just gorgeous anyway. You have to wonder how he keeps his dick in his pants for any extended length of time. ;)

Video games are way ahead of any entertainment media.
You are not limited to your own imagination like when you read books/comics yet you are not a mere spectator like in TV/audio content. For "common folk" it's like having an alternate reality. No matter how much "realistic" a game can be, it's not real life.
For me, the very first time a saw a videogame running on a PC (consoles also but not that much, sports are very popular console titles for a reason) was love at first sight, I guess that's pretty much what a most video game enthusiasts (actual ones, not media stars and comic-con cosplayers) feel. Real life isn't just enough, and sex is obviously included although since most mature content out there is just fanservise or meet-n-fuck games based in "common folk" fantasies.

This painting recently sold for $179 million.

So ... I am having a problem understanding your idea of "wasting your life".

I meant that time could have been used for something more constructive and with utility rather than just admiring "art". Couldn't that time have been better spent pursuing more of life. Like building a better mouse trap or something? I feel that way occasionally.

You must not regret things in the past, you can't change them anyway. Also you wrote in question which means you are searching for confirmation if it was right or wrong but only you can decide. You have enough time remaining to do whatever you want

Well, video games are escapism and pornography is about instant sexual gratification. Depending on who you ask, some will say it doesn't matter how you spend your limited time because you'll die eventually anyway and others will tell you that video games and porn are meager surrogates for the real thing. I suppose if you have the feeling you could've spent your time better you probably think the latter is more correct. The thing is, we all make our choices and looking back you might think what would've happened if you chose differently, but that's a moot point. If you feel like you should be a better person than you are now, which certainly is a noble goal, than go for it. If not, don't.

One thing you can be sure about is that you won't really matter in the grand scheme of things, the only thing you can change is your life and subsequently the life of those around you. Which can be good or bad but it won't change the fact that you are a drop of water in an ocean.

Well. I plan on putting some of the time I spent playing games to use when I make some mods in the future. Maybe draw some inspiration from some of those oldies. 3d modeling and animation will be my focus. Particularly the animation part. Skyrim and FO4 could both use some better animations for certain things. Will not release anything until I am well satisfied with the results.

On topic, I really, really enjoy well made games and sex in games. I can understand that it is probably very difficult to accurately imitate the more sensual characteristics of humans (and animals) having sex. From my experience with things of an artistic nature, it is the little details in someone's work that make it so much better. Seeing two people fucking is fine by itself I suppose, but seeing expressions on their faces as they do so is fantastic. The placement of hands in sex scenes is also something I notice. The fluid motion of gently caressing or maybe fingering or fisting. One thing I plan to use more in anything I make is the tongue. Oh the wicked delicious things that can be done with that part of our sexual arsenal! I look forward to the future of gaming mainly to see how far sex in games will progress. ;)

Well, you are right, you could have... I don't know... um... made a sandwich? Cleaned a room? Exercised? ... Though, ok, technically you could also have done any of those instead of posting here on these forums. Or, you know, instead of something else.

However, ... wait, ... do you have a problem with mice? If so, maybe we should do something about that.

Yeah. Not getting it. If you have a point speak it plainly.

Ok, sure - if you want to do something not lazy? There's work to be done. For example: http://fortune.com/2017/08/08/immigration-worker-shortage-rotting-crops/

Problem is, a bulk of people get directed away from doing useful work.

WTF does that have to do with the topic? You seem to have some agenda and need to take it somewhere that people will care. :D
