I remembered seeing something like this on the nexus a while back. I believe they mentioned it might be the motherboard. https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/1957354-sli-performing-worse-than-single-card/

I don' think its that unfortunately. It would seem both my cards should be able to run skyrim SLI just fine. I have one x16 and one x8.

On that note however, I've just noticed something kinda weird about my SLI. https://ibb.co/e07MUk https://postimg.org/image/qrr5rhmh3/
1080 Ti (2) happens to be the top card on the motherboard closest to the CPU. I thought that was suppose to be the primary card. I have no idea why it's showing up as (2) instead of (1).

I'm not sure what effect this would have on performance but its certainly worth looking in to.

Edit: Not the problem either. My board uses second GPU primary when In SLI. Got my monitor in the primary GPU now.

I think as far as nvidia inspector goes you might need to monkey around with the sli settings and test the game to see if there are any improvements. Half of what I was finding digging through old threads supported the theory that you're probably going to end up having to tune things through here. Might be a community profile out there you can try as well, if that doesn't work you can revert back to what you had previous and try something else.

Any chance you have a profile on hand you could send me? I feel as if I've tried literally everything.

Skyrim is 32 bit software.
I would start Skyrim with admin rights in the compatibility mode (32 bit).

I have no option for compatibility mode 32 bit. I'm on win 10.

Of course you have this option.
Right click on the Exe (Skyrim Launcher or SKSE Launcher) -> Properties -> Compatibility and make your choice (Win95 is 16 bit - for example).
There is also a check mark for Admin rights.

My bad. I thought it would explicitly say  x32 or something. Not the OS name.

Which OS happens to be the 32 bit one?

Edit: This is what I see

You may wanna try joining the windows pro insider program so you can test new releases of windows 10. They are currently testing release 16232.rs which has the memory fix for DX9 in windows 10.

I am currently running it, and it allows Skyrim to use all my VRam (20384) instead of the capped 4k.

I'm afraid I don't. I never really got it to work either. The more I dig into it the more suggestions I find, but there aren't really any definitive answers that will actually yield a good result. Then again most of these games have to be tailored and coded to even work with sli and even that only works to varying degrees. Not trying to be a downer mate, But I haven't found anything as of yet...

Read System Requirements of Skyrim: ;)

Win7, Vista, XP
Directx 9.0c

All 3 Windows versions are available as 32bit and 64bit

You can test it easily - it does not matter.
If it does not work you can select another mode or deactivate it again.

Another note. Skyrim also has problems with sound (low FPS, Freeze, CTD).
Set the sound quality for Skyrim to CD quality.
