CBBE or UNP?

After some consideration and browsing of armor mods' date=' I think I'm going to switch from CBBE to UNP body. How do I do that? I confess I have no idea what files were overwritten when I installed CBBE, I basically just took the data folder in the download and popped it in my Skyrim folder. I'm also not sure what armors I have that are CBBE only. Ugh, untangling this mess is going to give me a headache.

Hehehe. I know what you mean about the armors. I use Nexus Mod Manager and type "CBBE-" in front of the CBBE armors so I can remember what body goes with what. I do the same for UNP and UNPB.

As far as setting up the body goes, give UNP Replacer Configuration Package a try.

Edit: If I remember correctly the UNP Replacer Configuration package will also give you the option to install BBP, but I can't remember. If it doesn't, go here for UNP BBP and here for UNPB BBP.

Good luck!

Oh hey, thanks for the links! I'm afraid I don't understand all those letters. UNP I know is a body mod, but what's BBP? and what's UNPB BBP?

Personally' date=' I go for whichever has more interesting armor mods. I've switched between them when new mods came out.

Right now I've found there are more armors I like with CBBE, so that's what I use.

That makes it sound like it's easy to switch back and forth between the two. I know I've seen people talk about having multiple body mods. Is it possible to have them all at once and switch in-game? Or have one body mod for certain NPCs and a different one for your character?

I myself support UNP. But different people have different tastes, so it's really up to them to define what's an "attractive body" is like.

However, if you learn how to edit armors, you'll never have to worry about using different bodies again. Your new favorite armor is for CBBE but you use mostly UNP? No worry, just download the mod, whip it up in 3ds max and spend about 20 min adjust it and voila - UNP version of the armor in the palm of your hand.

Adjusting the armor/clothes for a new body is the fun part. I just have problems on the final steps of the process before exporting. Something someone else probably sees as incredibly easy. :P

did anyone ever come up with a guide to converting armor to a certain body type?

And when i mean a guide, i mean "steps for a total dummy that didn't open 3d studio/any 3d program nor the CK, ever"

If you're unfamiliar with Blender or Max you're going to have a bad time converting stuff because you'll be overwhelmed.

My advice is learn how to use them get used to their UI. Max is more intuitive than Blender IMO, but Blender is free (I know my way around both). But once you get used to it and make use of soft selection (Max)/proportional editing (Blender) converting stuff is very easy.

Now if you're OCD with how close stuff should be to the body you'll waste a lot of time :P

@ switching bodies

Well, you have to learn to use a mod manager at one point or another. Your best bet is to start now. NMM is easy to use. Wrye Bash is better with more features and offers more transparency but requires a bit more work when packaging up certain mods. The good thing about Wrye Bash is that I can switch between 3 body mods (CBBE, UNP and ADEC) with just a few clicks and have a clear understanding at all times what overwrites/conflicts with what.

I prefer UNP as well, BUT

I really LOVE the CBBE Bodyslider tool (and the way you can mess with it) and for now the TBBP on the CBBE Body looks better than the UNPB Variant. I may switch back to UNPB once the effects look as equally good.

Nightasy has a comprehensive beginner's guide to using 3ds max 2012. He uses UNP body for his tutorials though, but you could just as easily use CBBE, ADEC, LB, or whichever body you prefer instead. You can find everything you need to get started here.

I've heard blender is easier to get familiar with, and working with nif files isn't as painful. Also, you could legally get a student license for 3ds max 2012 from Autodesk for free, as Nightasy shows and explains on his tutorial videos. I personally haven't tried blender, so I can't say if it is easier or not. Don't think I won't because it would be a pain to learn to use another program when I haven't become fully accustomed to the one I started with.

Well, I might as well add my two cents.

I use CBBE for the customization options presented by Caliente's Bodyslide tool. If I want a UNP-type body but with a narrower waist, I can do that. If I want a larger derriere, I can do that. If I want wider hips, I can do that. You can't do that with UNP, and so I use CBBE.

CBBE 3.2 is out now and I must say, it's definatley worth switching over.

I dunno, the preview shots of it didn't show it off very well. Doesn't really look much different.

The nipples did look less weirdly button-shaped, if only a bit, though, so that's an improvement.

You can't reproduce the UNP body with CBBE tools cause certains area just have less polygons in CBBE, nipples and vagina area especially.

The UNP is a little flat for me so i use UNPB which has the details of UNP and the curves i like

The level of details in CBBE just can't match the UNP body and never will

Hopefully the recent increasing number of conversion to UNPB make it the best option to me. I just would like to see a bodyslide too for UNP

I use UNP (and sometimes UNP Skinny). Because CBBE doesn't look natural at all to me.

It's like comparing old Lara Croft with the new one in my opinion. ;)

I know that there are other Femalbodys as well but since most armors and clothings are made for CBBE and UNP, I never really checked on them.

UNPB is the best for those who like to play with a more realistic visual experience.

No, just no.

UNP is already at the border of being realistic.

I use UNPB myself (used UNP before but...ya know, bigger boobs'n stuff) and as much as I love the body UNP!B! is a lot of things but realistic isn't one of them.

I have UNPB BBP as the default body, and I have a few custom standalone followers that use CBBE body. That way I can checkout my taste in various clothing mods from both sides of the house. I think I will try an ADEC follower if I see one that is a standalone, cause that body style also looks nice too and has several great looking outfits as well.

I prefer UNPB with BBP which I think is much better than CBBE. The only bad things about UNP is the feet soles, too small breasts on low % end even with UNPB and fingernails which are better on CBBE. I also am finding more complete armor sets with UNP than CBBE which is another reason I stick with UNP.
