Does anyone else here @LL watch this show? I got into it a couple weeks ago and am currently caught up with the series. This show just became my favorite :D

Watched season one and now I'm reading the books. Great stuff.

I watched all of season one and so far of season two.

It's cool the way we're into the second season and it feels like things are still just getting started or building up.

I like one of its themes, too, it keeps touching on; the power of the sword vs the power of words.

My favorite characters so far are Arya Stark (the girl with a mini-sword dressed as a boy) and Tyrion Lannister (the midget who is doing better with his words than his warrior brother is doing with his sword).

I also like how They actually

Kill the Good guys. (For Example, Ned Stark.), That way, You never know what's gonna happen. Unlike most shows where Good always wins.

Yeah definitely, also people who read the books have told me not to get too attached to any character :sleepy:

Still one of my favorite scenes is how the wannabe king Viserys Targaryen gets his golden crown in season one.

If he were a real dragon king (and could not be burned so easily), it would had been a royal golden shower!

I watched Season 1 and bought the DVDs. Preordersd the boxset of the books so far.

I'm holding on til all the Episodrs of S2 are out before watching so I can enjoy it in one big chunk. I hate the 'one a week' shite that they do on TV these days.

All in all I love it as much, for diffreepnt reason, as any of ky other favorite series/franchises.

I was thinking of doing that too, but I just couldn't wait. I enjoy this series too much :D.

As of season 2 this guy is my new favorite character!

Yeah, I too follow it. Actually got into the books now too, and got a bit shocked at just how closely they follow the books. As a general rule most TV-series/movies deviate fairly much from the books they are based on, but a lot of the TV-series is straight from the books, word for word. Appearently the author has worked closely with the filming team. The only omissions I have noted so far, about halfway through book 1, are totally inconsequentual. Rather, stuff has been added, mainly involving nudity that never was in the books, lol, so no one is complaining.

Only thing that has dissapointed me so far is the look of the Vale and the Aerie (sorry if it is misspelled, I listen to the audiobooks, so I don't know how anything is spelled :P ), which I felt should have been more impressive. Also, Tyrion should have been uglier...:P

Aside from the nudity and the fact that I am a total fantasy-fanboy ever since I was a kid, the thing that has really gotten me hoocked on the show is that, as have already been mentioned, you really don't know what is going to happen. Certain characters, who normally NEVER would be allowed to be killed or maimed due to their popularity with the fanbase, live just as dangerously as less popular characters. Personally I have always found that a fault in most american storytelling, especially serial TV shows. Nothing truely bad is ever allowed to happen to the main characters. The fact that the heroes never have to take the consequenses to standing up to the villains makes their heroism lesser, in my eyes, but the fan outcry that occurs every time some character in a TV-show is killed (some people have appearently not yet recovered from the "I'm a leaf on the wind, watch me soar"-incident at the end of Serenity) probably keeps the producers careful with that kind of thing...

One disturbing realisation from reading the books however...

The dragon chick (not even going to try to spell her name) was 13 or possibly 14 when she marries Khal Drogo... Wouldn't that make her nudie scenes illegal or something? She is after all supposted to represent a very young girl,... Although the actor that portrays her certanly looks fully grown...:P

Yeah in the TV show they make sure she's 18 or 19 I believe. The actress (Emilia Clarke) is 25 years old.

Yeah I also love what you mentioned that you can't expect anything from the characters in this show. Typically the protagonist is alive throughout the series, and either lives or dies at the end. Game of Thrones just throws that out the window and kills of Lord Stark early [first book].

I'm looking for a new way to watch the episodes. Before, I was using a P2P filesharing client on the eDonkey network, but a third party pirate troll was starting to hound my ISP with logs of my illegal activities. Currently, my home ISP is no longer in my name, in a roommates name, so I want to avoid getting my roommates in any trouble from anything I do. I don't have cable or satellite, only internet. Is there a legit (I'll pay$$$) way to watch these online?

Thanks. I was really hoping for the ability to pay to view individual episodes or just the one show without having to get DirectTV or HBO or wait a year for the season release to DVD. It makes sense there wouldn't be, since the whole point is to get people joining HBO, and this way I'll just be forced to wait and watch the whole season at once, which is a pretty nice bonus.

Tyrion Lannister is best Character. Not only is he the only good Stark, He's a Smart, Awesome, badass etc. Anti-hero Midget who got introduced while receiving a blowjob.

Indeed, I learned that the hard way. :P

But It's too late and now I sympathize for every Stark. >.>

Tyrion Lannister is NOT a Stark.....he is a Lannister. :s

He IS the only "decent" Lannister (which is probably what you meant).

It was hard reading the first couple of books as they would just introduce folks and then kill them. After they killed off many of the central characters I kinda was numb to folks they started introducing as I wasn't thinking anymore about how interesting they were, but rather wondering when/how the author was going to "off them".

All in all it was rather disturbing and takes getting used to. The HBO series has been surprisingly good thus far. I was surprised and please with how closely they seem to be following the books. It isn't exact but touches the main points fairly well. I am looking forward to the siege of Kings Landing.....:P

Yeah so far Tyrion seems to be the only Lannister with somewhat good morals. I have to admit though, Jaime Lanister's name Kingslayer has an awesome ring too it! Btw does anyone else here love the opening?!?

@d2vis

In books Tyrion is the only "good " (and living :P ) Lanninster, later Jamie seems to change a bit to be more "good " character for example when he decides to disobey he's fater and free Tyrion.

But for now I'm only counting episodes till Joffrey get's what he deserves ^^

Oh yes. Don't bother with a telly, but bought the DVDs of Series 1 when it came out a couple of months back. Likewise, love the way that they stick fairly close to the books ('though in the current climate they have to be careful in some areas). Favourites? Like most folk I suspect, Tyrion and Arya.

I'm tempted to start watching this series. Once House is done the only shows I look forward too are Breaking Bad, The Killing, The Walking Dead and Touch...

I gotta agree with people waiting, following the episodes on a weekly basis get's old real fast, and keeps you pretty confused. I prefer to see them on a rate of 2-4 episodes daily, to keep up with and enjoy the story better.
