Um, yeah, mainstream PC, duh, journalism.

http://www.pcgamer.com/best-skyrim-mods/

Expect some pukes who think otherwise, but for the most part some of the mentioned mods are required in any load list, but others need an update, and then there's the one big mod that splits hairs. And of course THAT ENB preset.

Xenius? wow that's a name I haven't heard for a while.

Ah, two quest mod guaranteed to CTD or bloat your save (or both)

two fauna mods that don't even support 1.9 :V

hey hothtrooper's "more triangles than ladybody and poser5 put together, also 5 diffuse maps for the gauntlets" mod, what could go wrong?

two script lag npc mods

Also bonus points for conflicting weather setups

and of course Duel, the mod guaranteed to fuck your save no matter what.

Games Journalism.

Games Journalism never changes.

Quite understandable why that is:

 - The want a article, nothing more (well maybe, but it is just a simple list of mods)

 - Only overhauled! I do not know what the old version included, but I think it is quite old.

 - The note quoted below makes me think that they only quickly looked over the mods

 - Major Point: How many users (includes PC Gamer) truly understand what a mod is and does ingame? How many have good knowledge?

And how many barely know anything? Thankfully the ratio gets better day by day, but I think it is still very unbalanced.

Its is nice of them to put this note, but it could have made easier to spot:

One final word: some mods on our list require other mods to work, some require special steps to install and use, and some mods conflict with one another. Be sure to read the mod page for each carefully for instructions on how to install and use them.

And some mods should just rest, like "Dance of Death". There is even a message at top that says VioLense is probably better as it is newer.

Not really, because this is a follow up article.

They basically did what Anita Sarkeesian did for her "butts are the devil and women don't actually have them" video when she dated Heavenly Sword (2016), which means she didn't even bother to click the link she (that is to say the person who writes what she says, McIntosh), otherwise she would have known that's the possible might be made movie and not the game, which also pans her premise of "I review and play every game shown on the video in depth" assertion as well, cause said game won't even play on the system she referenced it on except as a PSN+.

I don't think they actually played most of what they proffered, they just looked up the most endorsed mods of a particular category, read the first couple of pages of chat, and called it a day.

There's nothing even preventing them from hitting up reddit or /tesg/ or FacePunch TES and dare I say asking for in depth opinions, which is what users do, so whilst you're right; your average user is just gonna click on a green steam button and call it day, there's nothing preventing them what users also do, ask around and do a little research. I hear good journalists do that on occasion.

I do not believe good journalists exist anymore, they went extinct thousands of years ago.

I usually don't read articles on sites like this, they're mostly made with very little research. Yup, this mod is one of the most endorsed so we will recommend it. We haven't played with this mod for a longer time to see what really happens, but yeah, it must be good.

Oh well, maybe some new people will find LL after searching why "the best Skyrim mods" are making their game even more unstable.

Fortunately some people come up on the comments to have the staff update the info. Yeah, which is why I tagged it for laughs. Because the article was done with little research, something to fill out the page and get more traffic, especially those dopes who don't know jack shit about ENB without realizing they need better hardware than their hand-me-down Core2Duos dating back from 2008.

Not sure about that bit of more ppl understanding what a mod does to their game.  Not a lot know how to look at the excel sheet layout of Xedit and understand what the value integers mean for their programs.

Actually there are not as many ppl that are even aware of modding really....I mean 10 mill that's a lot of ppl but there are a whole lot of gamers for say Fo4 that still don't know what we mean when we talk about mods.
