Mod Organizer Profiles

So  a couple of days ago I decided to start a second character in Skyrim to explore a slightly different set of mods (my first character is magic centred and my second would be archery centred).

So I set up a new profile in Mod Organizer for that character and activated all my mods except for the magic related and a few others. But when I get into the game with this profile the animations wont run. My character and all NPC:s animations are frozen in the default pose.

So I suspect it's a problem with FNIS (I have FNIS, FNIS spells, FNIS Creatures and FNIS Fix installed), so I deleted the new profile and tried copying my first profile into a new profile. I deleted the save files fixed the modlist again and made sure not to turn off any animation related mods.

This didn't work. Same problem again.

So I tried making a copy again but not alter it in any way and started the newest save file, the same as for my primary profile. Still the animations don't work.

If anyone have run into this problem, a similar problem or have suggestions to fix this, help would be really appreciated.

I have (way too many) profiles in MO.

If I have a Profile named Elves (where my male PC can play with Elf followers), I activate that profile, then run FNIS.

This will put the files in my overwrite

Right-click Overwrite and select to create a mod.

Name it FNIS-Elves (or whatever your profile name is)

Activate that mod.

Start your game.

By doing this I can have different animations in different profiles and each has their own FNIS "mod".

If you run FNIS again on this same profile, the files go into overwrite again. This time you right-click overwrite, select Information, the drag the files into your FNIS-Elves mod (or whatever you named your FNIS for this profile.)

as i've  explained in another post, you must INSTALL any patcher for each profile to get it right,

Fnis, DSR, DynDoLod etc

reinstall Fnis and all its dependencies properly (rename it as per your profile, don't erase anything )in your new setup, run it, create the mod with the data in the overwrite, done

every time you will run fnis then, just copy past the data from the overwrite in the mod you've created

same for Real shelter, DynDoLod, DSR, Asis or any patcher, this way all profiles works as they should

Thank you. I was unaware that you needed to create separate "FNIS mods" for each profile. Now the animations work properly.

Would be nice to have a Overwrite for each profile.

Tannin PLS!

This isn't something new. TAnnin is aware of it and as far as I understand it this won't be changing. Another option is to keep the Overwrite folder clean... run a patch  and create a mod and name it .. patch "profile name"... or the opposite order if you please. Then move it in the install order to where you please. (usually near the bottom of the list) and done. When you run another one.. just replace the old one. You might end up with several FNIS patches or what ever patch you use, one for each profile but they will be separate and easily maintainable (dated creation date as well) Benefit is if some patch messes with another one you can change the priority. Might be the reason Tannin isn't creating a profile specific Overwrite folder. He wants that to stay clean at all times and mods to be created from the overwrite folder (patches). This is the normal instructions you see when reading about MO and its overwrite folder.

Yes the other way works as well. You can also install multiple mods into one mod as well. However this isnt' how MO was designed.

Put renamed bashed and merged patches into the profile name mod, then put all the stuff going into the overwrite into that for each profile and you pretty much have what you want, to make it easer to know which profile mod you are using apart from its name, re-name the bashed patch and merged patch to that profile name, an example of mine

mod name Patcher-Beastess

Inside that mod are beastessbashed patch.esp, beastess merged patch.esp, and all the lootifcation and any other skyproc patcher outputs, as well as the finis output for that profile, makes it nice and easy when using multiple profiles, you can if you have not changed anything since you last play, simply active the profile specific mod and go.

yes... one thing that is definite with MO's design. It is flexible, powerful and customization. there are dozens of ways to approach a problem and solve them allowing the user maximum flexibility and adaptability to solve his/her problems.
