Tamriel Online - Skyrim Lan Multiplayer

I've got a friend on my Steam list that's been playing around with it.  I haven't gotten an in-depth report yet, but from what I've gathered, it works but is still a little buggy (again no specific details, yet).

I imagine it would work with Sexlab mods.  The main stipulation is that anybody playing on the same LAN apparently has to have the same mods list.  So without hearing otherwise, I imagine the biggest roadblock to Sexlab interaction would be having the right combo of mods, AND not having both people try to take control of the scene at the same time.

Yep I've seen it and I'm tracking the file, I just wait for the project to be more mature before trying it.

It would be cool to make a list of LL players so we could organize meetings later.

I can only imagine lol. This could seriously bring in new life to the game though considering the many possibilities.

Anyways, what's the issue between this and the Nexus? It wouldn't be surprising for the Nexus to keep this regardless considering that it'll likely be a big, popular project.

Yah know I almost hate to be drawn into this crap again, but the Nexus has no reason to ban it that I know of.  Stuff gets banned there primarily for copyright violation.  Armor from Arkham Asylum may be cute (as a random, made up example), but as I've pointed out elsewhere, it also opens up the Nexus to copyright lawsuits by WB Games.  They also try to protect content from mod authors from being stolen by other mod authors without permission.  Personally I think that's a good thing.

Now can we quit trying to derail threads all over the board with Nexus bashing?  It's beyond really tired and stale.

I saw Gopher test this briefly with his friend Chay yesterday, and its definitely interesting. As others have said, its still buggy as all hell, but that should frankly be expected considering the modder says he only even started working on it a few weeks ago. "Early Alpha" doesn't even come close to describing how early this thing is in its development.

That said, all I'm waiting for is the news of Zen/Bethesda inevitably killing it via a Cease & Desist order the moment it actually begins to look like it could actually work reliably and be stable.

Co-op skyrim would be fantastic; add in all the SL -- crazy fantastic. With hardcore servers, difficulty that is, leading to hardcore other stuff when you're ass gets kicked, it also gets jacked.

I am a bit concerned over that possibility also.  I'm a bit more optimistic than you however, since it's hard for them to justify a cease and desist for modifying their intellectual property when the whole CK is based on modifying it. :)

Maybe if ESO sales get really shitty like close to tanking and they have to consider six months later their servers will be shut down etc. vs killing this to keep ESO alive. I can't stand ESO it looks like the kind of hallucination of a wow player high on drugs sitting in front of skyrim would think up ya know? All those dam icons over the heads of npcs and players spawning in and out all the time it just sucks. If this skyrim online thing could limit each server to four players or each match/game instance whatever it is called to four players at a time, maybe that would be kinda like playing dying light co op? Yeah if it gets fun and ESO numbers show a sharp decline right after the fun starts you can be sure they will try to kill it.

An old ass game from 2011 is gonna adapt some co op and compete against a more recent online only game from the same company? shit they will kill that lol, this sounds like counter strike 1.6 all over again. When the last game of that kind is gone from the interest of most pc gamers, only then can these crap companies make some kind of a profit totally screwing people over because what else would there be to play? we are talking ten years from now though, just think how long cs1.6 lasted before people finally let got and went over to csgo. The industry wants to completely kill games like skyrim and cs1.6 because games with such high replay value destroy profits at least in the minds of these greedy fucks that run things now.

I wonder how a SL server would work?

I would have a huge potential, but it would need a universal modlist to se on the server (could be easily solved by making a "mod complation" on one big archive toi download).

Also it would be nice if it had some kind of new mods pool once a month to decide which mods would enter, something about 70% approval to put the mod on the server, the same for the basic mod for the server.

To me the biggest problem would be to block dragonborn (the MC not the DLC) and civil war related stuff, because it doesnt make sence a 100 dragonborns running around shouting or both sides winning the war or 70 listeners, but this issue could be solved by the explanation that the server is 1 year after the main quest and the civil war was completed, also someon eelse thats not the drangonborn completed the guilds questlines (1 npc for each guild couldbe created as the new guildmaster).

it would be lots of work...

BUT IT WOULd BE AWESOME!!!!

I wonder the different between the file on the Nexus and this http://skyrim.ophelia-core.com/ site are.

The files in the data folder form both places are the same.

The Nexus version has scriptdragon included.

dinput8.dll
Scriptdragon.dll
TamrielOnline.asi
TamrielOnline.ini
DATA
 scripts
  SkyBrothers.pex
  SkyUtilitiesScript.pex
SKSE
 plugins
  SkyUtilities.dll

The file on the other site has

MyGUIEngine.dll
DATA
 scripts
  SkyBrothers.pex
  SkyUtilitiesScript.pex
 SKSE
  plugins
  SkyUtilities.dll

Well, a server-side "MOD-Masterlist" could handle alot of incompabilitys, I guess. Imagine it like joining a modded CSS-Server:

Before you actually get to play on the server you download meshes and textures (you will need client-sided), don't know if it's possible to keep scripts server-sided since that would syncronize the game alot better for the players on a server. And to keep ones Skyrim folder clean there could be some Mod-Organizer kind of "MOD-Pack-Isolation" with a simple folder structure. If you join a certain server you'll load it's folder as your modlist into your virtual Data folder.

I think that would be an idea worth presenting the developer. I'm not encouraged enough to do that myself, meh.

These seems really promising. I came across this mod yesterday in Nexus and its pretty interesting. I'm pretty much contemplating whether to downloading it or not.

Can anyone who has this mod tell me if it works well or not...?

It doesn't really "work" at all right now. People can 'join' each others games, but that's literally about it. The visual representation for those who have joined you is not at all accurate (they appear as either messed up copies of you, or basic NPCs), there is no direct interaction between players (can't damage or interact with each other), and there is basically zero syncing between each player's game world, so one person could be fighting a pack of wolves or something while his friend right next to him is seeing nothing, just the wrong image of his friend moving around swinging at nothing.

It needs to be remembered, though, that at this point this mod is less than a month old (as in, he only started working on it less than a month ago). This will need a LOT of time and development before it becomes anything 'worth' using (if it ever even actually *can*).

From what I see it is the same mod that I have been watching for around 2 years. They only just started making progress again around last December.

PS

Most of it is from Nov/1/2012-Apr/1/2013

Nope, the mod you mean is "Skyrim Online", instead of "Tamriel Online". Skyrim Online didn't even get animations to work for more than two years, the guy who created Tamriel Online got it in a the weeks he used to create the mod.

Additionally, he mentions that this mod is his first try of modding and programming.

Btw, has someone already set up a LoversLab server for this? Preferably in the EU? :D

The name is different but the latest version from both sites use the same files for the Data folder. SkyUtilities.dll in the skse\plugins from both mods have same sha-512 hash. So does every file that is place in the data folder. The only difference is that 7zip reports the nexus files dated Jun/24/2015 vs the Dec/24/2014 from the other site. I find it hard to believe that a new modder somehow made his own version and it uses the same files as another older attempt.

PS

I'm not saying anything was stolen etc. For all we know this new person is just continuing where the other person/team stopped.
