Mine works with the latest files, are you using the defeat beta?  I highly recommend it.

Also, are you using LOOT and wrye bash every now and again?

Nexus Mod Manager or Mod Organizer or something?

About the MCM issue, why don't you press F5 then press F9 to see if they load this time.

If your issue is with steam why don't you use a crack to by pass steam? You already own a legitimate copy so why torture yourself with steam?

CK is a separate tool I have never seen it forced onto anyone since you have to install it yourself by clicking on it and clicking install after installing skyrim if you want it if you don't want it then you don't install it. I use the Ck a lot so it is one of the main things I install after installing skyrim since many mods especially the ones from overseas have to be loaded and the item names changed to English names so I can get them in game.

I don't understand this mindset of "don't torture yourself with Steam". As someone who's vehemently against DRM, i'm quite happy with Steam and have never had a single problem with it.

Furthermore, nothing in the latest updates of any of those will have broken anything by themselves, either you've installed something else as well, or your install was incredibly screwed up beforehand and it's taken being updated to find it out. I run on the latest SKSE, latest SkyUI, latest everything, and i don't have these problems. If something's not showing up in the MCM and you know you've installed everything correctly, it means you need to sit and wait. Open up the console (to pause the game while still allowing any and all scripts and stuff to load up, i don't know if pausing on the game menu works) and wait for it all to update.

Finally, the CK is separate from Skyrim, updates to it have zero to do with updating anything of Skyrim's.

Ah, just relax and let him rant. Sometimes it really helps to relieve the pressure and let you return to actual thinking and measured actions from frantic trashing.

If he really needs help, he'll ask for it.

Interesting replies... thanks

I don't actually need help, I know full well it is all my fault.  I've been mucking up skyrim for a long while now and these things happen. Since it was asked, I use LOOT, SMCO, WyreBash, TES5Edit, and FNISforUsers, etc.  every single time I change anything.  They don't do a thing to prevent me from being stupid though.

Using my time away from the problems to get some housework done, and am updating everything on my pc  --- once I get settled down, I have a hunch I'll find out what I did and fix it in a matter of minutes.

Just wanted to add 2 things here.

First, cracks are illegal.  It doesn't matter than you own a legit copy of the game - that exception applies to ROMs for console games to play them in emulators and has no bearing on PC games.

That said, right now my Steam library has over 40 games in it - and 7 of them are listed as "installed.  Of those that remain, 16 of them actually are installed, even though steam things they're not.  Yep, pirated copies of games I already bought.  And I have them for this very reason right here - because it is MY decision when I update an OFFLINE, SINGLE PLAYER game, NOT the publisher's.

That said, I haven't seen a mod that won't work with the current 1.9.x version of Skyrim in a VERY long time, so now I just keep running my technically-pirated copy so that when I mod the game to death I don't have to redownload all the files, I just reinstall my already-downloaded pirate copy instead.

So anyhow...just a couple thoughts.  As long as piracy hurts nobody, including the devs who eat off this game, I don't mind doing it, but I wouldn't pretend it's legal, at any rate.

You shouldn't have the CK Forced on you as far as I know? I had to get it manually atleast. Using the latest versions of mods and extensions such as SKSE and SexLab etc requires that your game be at the latest version so you should update when possible. Just some advice.

That's not what you said to Valve ;)

For reasons that include, without limitation, system security, stability, and multiplayer interoperability, Steam may need to automatically update, pre-load, create new versions of or otherwise enhance the Content and Services and accordingly, the system requirements to use the Content and Services may change over time. You consent to such automatic updating.

Coercion is not agreement. Frankly too many clauses in software "agreements" are nothing but coercion.

(Interesting arguments for a rant thread)

Consenting to an automatic update only means you cannot legally say "I don't allow you to update".

It also does not mean someone is forbidden to by pass them, for example staying offline.

its kind of like when you go carting or paintball and they make you sign that document that they are not responsible for bodily injuring you. Thats BS, no legal document can force you to disregard your bodily rights. Like if I make you in signing a document that allows me to rape/enslave/injure/experiment and so on... is illegal and not considered legally binding whether the action is by accident or on purpose.

I did not mean to open this can of worms about Steam updating....

Oh well...

I did a lot of work on my pc and Skyrim, driver updates and much more. After all that I still had to revert to SkyUI 4.0 to get any mods to load, 4.1 is a fail for me with my load up.

I don't know why, and right now I don't care... everything I want is working now so I can play. Sooner or later it will probably bite me again, but until then I am not doing any more.

I am outahere

Plenty of people who want no part of steam does this myself included. All it took was an auto without consent update which mucked everything up never again.

"because it is MY decision when I update an OFFLINE, SINGLE PLAYER game, NOT the publisher's." so are you saying this is why you have boot leg copies or boot leg steam. Either way its the silliest argument for piracy I have ever heard!

Besides you can turn steam auto updates off. I do and I update when I need to. you guys are just being silly and refuse to give steam the credit for offering one of the best game management services on the internet. Programming is hard work and programmers have got to eat too.

Posted

Man honestly get that apologist crap outta here. The programmers are eating just fine and if they're not they should take it up with whoever's screwing them in their profession which is not us considering we still bought the damn game.

Don't like Steam never liked  Steam it is what it is.

We may be an adult oriented community, but don't be stupid, don't post anything blatantly illegal. Meaning no discussion or assistance with illegal content such as piracy, game cracks, models or textures taken from the assets of other games, or any depictions of underage persons with exposed nudity or in a sexual context.

If you find yourself asking, "Should I post this questionably legal content?" The answer is simply no.

looks like this topic is prone for lock.. Meaning [Meaning no discussion of piracy] is even allowed..
